Navaya soon left Becca's office to go back to hers and when it was time for lunch, she stood by her door, watching Becca leave to go have a meal with that she-monster.
" You sure you don't need backup, or reenforcement?" Navaya asked, watching Becca lock her office door.
Becca finished locking up and turned to Navaya with a smile on her face.
" I will be fine and besides, you know I can't trust you to be anywhere near Raquel or you might land your ass in jail this time." Becca giggled and hugged Navaya.
" Prison doesn't scare me, having Raquel misuse your kindness and hurt you again does." Navaya patted Becca's back and broke the hug.
Becca, unaware of what to say, just nodded. What could she say? She couldn't possibly say Navaya was overexaggerating or that she was incriminating Raquel because both of them knew the horrible things Raquel had done in the past, what she was still capable of.
Raquel was the meanest of them all, the equivalent of an evil witch in a children's book.
She was arrogant, selfish, self-centered, bitchy and so many other bad adjectives.
The things Raquel did in the past ruined a lot of people's highschool experience, hell it ruined Becca's but what Navaya still couldn't understand was why Becca was willing to forgive the whore just because she shedded a few drops of tears.
Beforehand, Becca called Leo and told him to send Martino with the car but all he told her was there was no need.
Becca furrowed her brows in confusion when she heard Leo's response. What did he mean by 'there was no need'? Wasn't he going to send the car?
She was about to ask what he meant but Leo ended up changing the topic to something else. His little way of prolonging their conversation. Just six hours without her and his brain had already began to spin, missing her like crazy.
It didn't take long for Becca to realize what he was doing, recalling that she was still supposed to be angry at him and ended the call. But still stood on the spot for a while, smiling at her phone. Correction, smiling at Leo's number.
Okay, maybe she wasn't really angry at him. Maybe she was just feigning annoyance, which she was, but it still didn't stop her from acting like a lovestruck teenager.
She then walked to her company's parking lot and saw her car parked there with Martino leaning on it, waiting for her. Once he saw her approaching from a far, he straightened to full length and smiled.
" That was fast, when did you get here?" Becca asked as she approached him.
She stopped right in front of Martino and looked up at him. His height and physique as beautifully scary as Leo's but the smile he had on made him look more approachable. Less frightening. Nothing like Leo's other bodyguards whose faces are made of stone.
They always looked so tough and broody all the time, like they were afraid heaven would smite them with it's fury if they smiled even once.
That was actually the reason Leo picked Martino to guard Becca in the first place. He knew Martino would guard her well without making her uncomfortable and plus he was a top notch assassin. One of the best in the job.
" I never left." Martino answered and Becca's jaw dropped.
" You have been here since you dropped me off?" Becca asked, surprised. Has he been waiting here for hours?
Martino nodded, his lips stretched with a smile. " Yes, madam." He answered and Becca frowned.
" Why?"
Like why? Why would he wait so long in a parking lot? Why didn't he just go home?
" Honestly, I had nothing else to do and plus, the boss pays me extra for guarding you." Martino responded and Becca blinked at him before shrugging her shoulders, not wanting to dwell on the issue anymore.
Martino and his boss were both weird and hard to understand so why try to comprehend their actions. Becca had already lost enough braincells from the hot sex she had with Leo that morning and didn't want to lose anymore that day so she chose to drop the matter.
Martino went ahead to open the backseat door for Becca, who gave him the stink eye before getting in which made him chuckle.
On seeing the cute glares she was sending him, intimidation was the last thing he felt. Instead he was rather amused.
Everything about the woman was just so cute, even her anger. Probably because he had seen Leo angry before and realized that nothing else could scare him more than it did.
Leo was like an erupting volcano when provoked, who wouldn't be scared? Even his own family members were scared of the wrath he unleashed when angered.
And when Becca's anger was compared to Leo's, hers looked extremely adorable. It was no wonder Leo was so amused and fascinated by her. With a woman like Becca by his side, he would never lack a source of humor in his life.
Martino walked over to the driver's seat door and got in.
" Where to, madam?" Martino ask, starting the car while Becca rolled her eyes at him for calling her 'madam' again.
" It's a restaurant at the other side of town. I'm just hearing of it for the first time." Becca took out her phone and tapped on it. " This one. Do you know where it is?" Becca asked, showing Martino the name of the restaurant on her phone.
" Yes, I know the place."
Becca sighed in relief. " Good, please take me there."
Without a word of objection or even a follow-up question, Martino followed her orders and drove out of the parking lot. To him, just as Leo insisted, Becca's orders should be taken just as serious as the boss's. The same importance and respect that was allocated to the boss should be given to her as well.
Protect her with your life. No slip ups will be tolerated and make sure she comes home safe and happy or your salaries gets it.
Leo made sure to drill it into the heads of all his men, Martino included. In fact he even got the most warning because he was going to be the one guarding her and he did well to heed to them, not just because he wanted his full salary but also because he loved his head on his body.
They got to the restaurant and Becca stepped out of the car. Her curiosity filled eyes looking literally everywhere and the way she was behaving stretched a smile on Martino's lips.
He had to admit that guarding Becca was indeed a breath of fresh air compared to what he was used to which was assassinating people and the more he spent time with her, the more he understood why his boss was so obsessed about her.
Becca was a drug. It was a little hard not to like her and if not careful, one could get addicted to her. Probably what Leo was experiencing right now.
" I have to meet someone inside, you can leave if you want and come back when I'm done." Becca suggested and Martino fought hard not to chuckle at her words.
She was adorable for trying not to inconvenience him but the only thing that could inconvenience him was Leo breaking his bone for not taking his job seriously. What Leo did to Alfonso was something Martino didn't want to experience.
" Don't worry." Was all he said and flashed her a smile.
Again, Becca shrugged her shoulders. For the sake of her braincells, Becca chose not to ask him any questions or even try to understand what he meant. He wouldn't even give her a straight answer anyway so why ask?
That was the most infuriating thing about the way Leo's robotic bodyguards behaved. They never gave answers that were actually answers.
Becca turned her back to Martino and stared at the restaurant. She inhaled a lung full of air then exhaled before stepping into the place.
Once she got in, her eyes scanned the place for Raquel and finally found her. She had already picked a table for them and sat waiting for Becca to arrive.
Becca took another deep breath as she ambled towards Raquel, who had her eyes fixed on the menu, forcing a smile on her face.
" Hey." Becca said as she got to the table and pulled out a chair for herself.
" Hey." Raquel answered and put down the menu. " I'm glad you could make it."
Becca placed her purse on the table and sat down on the seat.
" Yeah look, I know I arranged to meet up with you for lunch to finish up where we left off last time but I still have work to do and would really appreciate it if we make it quick." Becca said a little curtly and Raquel blinked, taken aback.
It wasn't Raquel's intention but for some reason after her encounter with Becca on Sunday, she kinda almost thought they were friends now. Perhaps she was wrong because the tone Becca just spoke to her in wasn't one you would use while talking to a friend but while addressing someone who was wasting your time.
How pathetic of Raquel to think Becca would ever forgive and want to be friends with her after all she did in the past.
" Yeah, we should make it quick then." Raquel muttered softly, casting her eyes on the table and sighed before returning her gaze to look at Becca. " So—"
" I already told my mother about it. She is willing to cooperate and partner up with your family's company but it's still left for your parents to impress when they have the meeting with her." Becca announced, cutting Raquel off in the process. But Raquel didn't mind. The news Becca was telling her now was way too exhilarating that Raquel couldn't even bring herself to get offended.
" For reals?" Raquel put her hands on the table, leaning slightly forward.
" You are twenty-three, Raquel and for reals is so sixteen." Becca said but Raquel was no longer listening. She was too distracted by the fact that she wouldn't have to marry that rich snobbish fiance of hers anymore.
" Are you serious right now? You really helped me?" Raquel asked in disbelief. " Why?"
" I promised I would, didn't I?" Becca cocked a brow while Raquel kept staring at her in disbelief.
" I thought you were going to tell me how it was impossible to help my case." Raquel once again dropped her gaze to stare at the table, unable to look Becca in the eye.
" If that was my intention then I would have done it through the phone. Why waste my time coming here?" Becca leaned back on her chair and folded her arms.
Raquel just kept staring at Becca. Words eluded her and all she could do was stare.
The person in front of her was the same one she used to bully in highschool, the same one she made cry so many times. The same one she loved hurting. Now that same person was the one lending her help to her. The only person who actually agreed to help and that too without asking for anything in return.
The person she hurt and ridicule in the past was now helping her.
No, that couldn't be right. Becca should have been happy and celebrating Raquel's downfall but she wasn't.. She didn't feel the need to, instead she was helping her out.
