Chapter 103 - Envy of Every Girl (Camille x Wei. Can Skip)

Camille had probably daydreamed way too much on how she would see Wei again. She had wondered almost every morning on how her not-so-prince-charming would come and sweep her away from her boring tiring life.

More often that not, she had pictured the event would be like how she first met him. That she would be awakened by her grandmother and Wei would be there on the same patch of grass, eating strawberries.

Sometimes, she would think that he would suddenly show up in her workplace, with black clothes and that beautiful face of his, making her the envy of every girl in their floor.

Over the weeks that she had not seen him, she had created fantasies that were so far out of reality. Unfortunately, none of which happened to her.

Camille had taken the Friday off, calling in sick even though she was not. She just wanted to sleep in and find peace in her bedroom, maybe cry over a drama and stuff her face with sweets. She got up with that plan and took her time in the bathroom.

Her grandmother was preparing rice rollers for their late afternoon snack and Camille could hear her speaking with someone outside. She pulled her hair up and toweled herself. She was in the middle of brushing her teeth when she heard her grandmother screaming her name.

"What?" she asked.

"Camille!"

"What?!"

"Camille!"

In annoyance, she wrenched the door open and saw him getting inside their house, lowering his head to not hit it on doorframe. It was Wei.

Is this real? Did I slip and am dead?

She almost choked on her toothpaste when his eyes landed on her and his lips formed a smile.

"Ah!" groaned her grandmother. "I thought you were already getting dressed."

With that, Camille looked down at her skimpy-towel-covered body and immediately slammed the door shut on Wei's grinning face, her heart pounding.

"What is he doing here?" she asked the mirror and found in horror that Wei saw her without eyebrows! Suddenly, she just wanted to flush herself in the toilet. Before it could seem such a great idea, her grandmother's insistent knocks rapped the door.

"What are you doing there?! Get out already!"

"Yes! I'm coming!" Camille got dressed and thought about making herself pretty but then realized that it was Wei's fault that she did not have time to prepare for him. "Eh," she shrugged and threw the first pair of clothes she had gotten her hands on. She did not even touch her face. "He gets what he deserves."

Her grandmother was already back in the kitchen. "He's waiting for you on the porch."

She only scowled and slid the wooden door open. "What are you doing here?!" she hung her towel. "You're not welcome here."

Wei only grinned at her and bit on leftover youtiao from breakfast. Camille sat and got herself a stick to chew on.

"Why are you here?" she asked.

"Isn't it obvious?" he sighed. "You miss me already. That's why I'm here."

She fought the urge to swat him with the stick. "I don't miss you."

"You do."

"Ha!" she scoffed. "How are you supposed to know that, huh? How did you know when to come?"

"I didn't."

"Then what the hell are you doing here?"

"Because I missed you."

Camille felt like her heart melted in a puddle at her feet. For a moment it was the only thing that rang in her mind. He missed me? But words came tumbling out of her mouth as her hands started slapping him on the arm. All those weeks of pent-up frustration. "W-What did you say?! You missed me? Just now? It's been weeks, Wei."

"Well, I didn't know," he said and raised an arm to shield himself from the blows. "You were pretty mad when I left you that night!"

"Yes! Because I knew I was going to miss you but then I had no choice but to wait because you didn't leave me anything!"

Wei lowered his arms and she stopped. She crossed her arms on her chest, her nose was flaring and eyes were glaring at the trees.

Grinning, he poked her cheek. "You missed me? You said you wouldn't."

Camille turned away from him, her face heated with embarrassment from her confession. The first few days she wanted to deny it. But there was no point anymore. She missed him even though she did not really know why. Maybe it was his face, maybe it was his voice always laced with teasing, or maybe it was because he was a mystery she wanted to unravel. Maybe it was just his presence—the feeling of annoyance that he gave her and yet she couldn't get enough of.

She felt his fingers took her elbow and spun her to face him. "Come now," he said softly and she almost backed away from his hand when he reached and swept hair away from her face. "I missed you too."

Camille's heart leaped but she continued to glare at him. Stop making me weak! she wanted to scream at his face. It was not enough. She needed a reason. Seeing that she waiting, he said, "Things got busy with the family. We needed all hands on deck."

"Do you manage your business?"

Wei shrugged. "Sort of."

Camille had tried looking for Wei at social medias. But with only three letters to accompany her, she did not get really far. "Who are you really? What's your name?"

"I told you already, it's Wei."

"Your last name."

"Does that matter?" he asked. "If you knew my family would that make you feel better?"

Insecurity stroke her heart. Would she really want to know how miles apart they were in social status?

"Hey," Wei said, pulling her closer with her leg. His finger slid under her chin, just the barest of touch but it sent her shivers. She was getting lost again, getting pulled with those black eyes that she didn't think she would miss looking at. "Don't be so mad. I told I'd come see you again. Right?"

She turned away from him, feeling her heart slowed.

"How about this," he said, withdrawing his hand and Camille suddenly wished he hadn't. "Let's spend the day together."

"But it's almost nighttime!"

"Well, then, we better get moving."

Camille glared at him again. "I want to watch a movie."

"No. I'm not sharing you with a silver screen. Not today. We're going somewhere we could talk." Camille's eyes only narrowed at him but Wei only lifted an eyebrow. "Less suspicion, less doubts, more talking. Remember?" Camille lowered her gaze and Wei suddenly stood up. "It seems like you don't want to come with me. I'll leave then."

She knew Wei was only joking but she couldn't help not getting infuriated with it. "Take one more step and I'll kill you."

Wei laughed and sat back down. "Chop, chop," he said, his eyes blinking slowly like he was going to fall asleep. "Please, we've not a minute to waste."

Camille stood up. "If I come back out and you're gone…"

Wei chuckled. "I'll be here. I promise."
