Feng Xuan was just about to walk away from Da Xia when she remembered something. She pulled something out of the pocket of her dress. "We're launching tonight. You might want to come and see what would destroy you. Ciao!"
Da Xia stared at the small marble bracelet with a tag hanging.
The Kingly Hotel. 6pm.
- Yang Fashion
Da Xia almost threw it away but it was such a pretty thing. An invitation in the form of a free bracelet? The Society issue came out a week after New Year's eve. Then it had only been a week or so and they already done so much.
They didn't need a lot of time. They already had a lot of money.
Da Xia sighed and dropped the bracelet inside her bag.

Qing Chen was already dead tired. If he would just close his eyes for five minutes, he would wake up the next day. He splashed water on his face and took his time regrouping in the bathroom.
When he came out, he stopped in his tracks when he saw Da Xia waiting for him at the corridor, looking over at the party below. Qing Chen decided to keep on walking and ignore her.
"How could you do this to me?"
He spun on his heel. "Excuse me?"
"You act like you're the victim in our break-up but you're the one who got married the same year we were over."
Qing Chen laughed without humor. "It could've been you and I. I could've married you, Da Xia. But thank heavens I did not." He stepped closer to her. "Our break-up… hmmm… what do they call it? A blessing in disguise?"
Da Xia gritted her teeth. "You knew your wife was a threat to the new investment The Kingly was making and you let them say yes."
"In case you've forgotten, I voted no," he chuckled. "It's on you, Da Xia, if you're going to fail. Don't try to put this on me."
"That was why they are looking to replace you as CEO."
"I don't really care what they have to say. I just want you out of this city." Qing Chen looked down at the party and saw that his wife was talking to a group of women, a huge smile on her face. "Your impulsive decision of staying here is not going to end well. I honestly don't know how you decided on that."
"It's because I can't take this," she said.
"Take what?"
"That you…" she pointed her finger at him accusingly. "That you're happy. I thought you'd be miserable without me."
Now, Qing Chen laughed. She was being funny. "I was, Da Xia. No denying that but…" he shrugged. "I'm happy now. You're angry at Xuan because she's living your supposed life. But you made that choice."
"I'm going to trample your wife."
Qing Chen shook his head. "Xuan is going to crush you. I don't even know where you're getting all this energy and what made you think that you could win this? You should be backing away by now. Feng Xuan's father is a developer. He has a property every half mile or so. His sole heir is my wife. She owns this city. If I were you, I'd leave while she's still being nice."
With that Qing Chen turned away and left Da Xia.

Da Xia stayed at the second floor long after Qing Chen went back to the party. It was a woman's party and there were only a number of men present.
Thinking back, she had always liked Qing Chen. He was such a sweet person. True, he was a little demure, like he was afraid to touch women and somehow oblivious of how you were feeling for him that you have to make the first move… but that was also only one of the things that she liked about him most.
Watching him now with his wife, other men would've stolen the spotlight away but he was there, letting his wife drag him to groups of women. He was just nodding at the side, occasionally adding a comment that made the older ones smile. He let her bask in all her glory.
Qing Chen was right. She was targeting Feng Xuan because she wanted what the other woman have now. She should've been the one there on his arm, fixing his coat and hair.
A pang of jealousy hit her square in the chest.
It was not like she had wanted to leave Qing Chen before. But it was too hard for her. She was used to having him around. They were together almost everyday and when she moved to study fashion and he stayed here in Chengshi, it was the only option to keep them both sane.
Her emotions was getting in the way of her dreams. She was doing poorly at school because all she does was miss him and think about him. He had visited her as much as he could but she could not live like that. She had to preserve her mental health.
Her mother had come with her and thought it would be a good idea to start her career and add to her portfolio right away. She had been taking modeling and commercial jobs since she was young. To jumpstart her career, her mother paid a B-list model to pose with Da Xia for a few weeks, just enough for them to stir rumors.
Within a week later, an A-list model had asked her to go out and she agreed. The fans of the B-list model immediately shunned her at social media. Then it was the fans of the A-list model when she left him for an actor who took her to the red carpet on the opening of his movie. Then so on and so on until she reached this position.
It hadn't been rainbows and sunshines for her either. She was going to die first before everything she worked hard for crumbles.
