Feng Xuan also had an unexpected guest this morning. She was already back in her office after the morning meeting at Qing Chen's. She still could not believe that an organization out there was trying to weed out the mafia.
She went right back to work and a few minutes passed before there was a knock on her glass door. She didn't need any visitors today but she just changed her mind.
"Wang Yimin!" she said and got up from her seat. She immediately wrapped her arms around her cousin's slim figure.
But her cousin was not happy. She was glaring.
"What's wrong?" Feng Xuan asked.
"You're already back in the city and you didn't tell me?"
Feng Xuan cringed. She gestured to the amount of work on her table. "I've been really busy." She rounded back to her seat and gestured for her cousin to sit down also. "How are things at YANG?"
"Oh, Meilien's a great help. Really good addition in our inner team." Wang Yimin pulled open the box that she was holding.
"Hey, you stopped by Gretel's," Feng Xuan smiled, grabbing one of the glazed donuts inside.
"Yeah, that's exactly what I want to talk to you about," Wang Yimin said.
"Gretel's? Why?"
"Well, in case you forgot, you're about to launch your big branch next week."
Feng Xuan stopped mid bite and cursed in her head. "The secretary here only writes down the things about The Kingly. I completely forgot!" she pulled some drawers and finally found her planner under a pile of paper.
"I'm way behind my schedule. Know any good organizer? I can't really squeeze preparing for this at the moment. I'm swamped."
"I know someone. Me."
"You have YANG."
"I know," Wang Yimin nodded with sugar on the corners of her lips. "But YANG is doing so great. I don't really have any problems right now. I need something to stress about."
"And I'm the workaholic." Feng Xuan took a closer look at her cousin, chewing. "Are you okay?"
There was a slight panicked look in Wang Yimin's eyes. If Feng Xuan did not know her cousin that much, she would've missed it.
"You don't look so well."
"I don't know what's going on with me," said Wang Yimin, averting her gaze. "I think I'm pregnant."
Feng Xuan almost choked. "That's great news! We should throw a party!"
"No, no, no!" said Wang Yimin in a hushed voice. "I'm not even sure yet. I missed my period. I think it's the stress that's getting to me."
"Why don't you take a test? You shouldn't be stressing yourself!"
Wang Yimin shook her head. "I don't know. I don't want to know yet."
Feng Xuan felt nervous for her cousin. "Hey, if you're growing a little human inside you, you should know. You have to take care of it and of yourself."
"That's the thing, couz! I don't think I'm ready to take care of someone else other than myself and my husband. My business just started."
Feng Xuan nodded her head. There was now a wild look at Wang Yimin's eyes, like some rabid animal was going to bite her. "Why don't we calm down. Okay?"
She grabbed the phone and ordered water. Once it was there, she made Wang Yimin drink the whole glass.
"You feeling better?" she asked.
Wang Yimin nodded at her. "I'm fine. I'm just getting panicked."
"Does your husband know that you're panicking?"
She shook her head and looked at her lap.
"Do you feel like talking about it with him?"
"I don't know," Wang Yimin whined like she was about to cry. "It's been crazy."
"Do you want me to stay with you for a test?"
"I don't want to test yet. I don't want to know," Wang Yimin said. "I think… I'll wait at least another week."
Feng Xuan nodded. "Okay. Let me know if you need anything."
"What I need is something that would take my mind of my possible pregnancy." Wang Yimin groaned at the hard look Feng Xuan was giving her. "I promise, I won't overwork myself. I'd even do everything from home. I'm not going to take in alcohols either."
"Okay," Feng Xuan said.
"Oh, that's great!" Wang Yimin's face already brightened. "I'll make sure it would be the best party. I'll invite celebrity families to be your guests."
The old Feng Xuan would've loved the thought of having to plan a party. But now all she wanted was to break some bones. "Do your magic, cousin. I know you can do it."
Wang Yimin did not stay that long. Feng Xuan got back to work for another hour until she was called by her secretary for a meeting. She and Qing Chen had to go to the main office to meet with the board members.
"Are you okay? You were quiet the whole ride," Qing Chen said while they were in the elevator.
"Just thinking about Wang Yimin."
"Why? Is she okay?" Qing Chen held her hand and she leaned on his shoulder.
"She thinks she's pregnant."
Qing Chen was quiet for a second and squeezed her hand. "Do you also want to get pregnant?"
Feng Xuan slapped his arm.
"What?!" he laughed and caught her wrist before she could land another blow.
"Why did you ask that?" she laughed too.
"I don't know. It felt like the only thing I could ask you."
"You could've ask how far along she thought she was. Or if her husband knew already. Or what are her plans."
Qing Chen shrugged. "Well, answer my question. Do you?"
Feng Xuan shook her head and hugged Qing Chen. "We'll get there when we get there. Right now, we have too many problems to even think about being parents."
"Right," Qing Chen replied and pressed a kiss on her lips.
She slapped him playfully. "What are you doing? We're in a workplace."
Qing Chen acted along. "You're the one who hugged me!"
Feng Xuan laughed with him.
