Chapter 377 - She's Coming

It was a good thing that Xie Changying was not in the room, because she would've already screamed. Or slap their faces one by one with a fan.

Qing Zihao was off his feet in a second and then Wuming was down on the floor with a hard flop. From the corner of Qing Chen's eyes she saw that her mother flinched from her seat, like she was going to move but she stayed put, nails digging under the armrest of her chair.

"Wuming!" Qing Lok said, kneeling down his brother in worry.

Qing Chen only gave a disapproving look at his father's enraged face. "What are you doing?"

"Your disrespectful brother!" Qing Zihao pointed at Wumng's face. "If this is going to be how you're going to act towards your mother from now on, then you should just leave! Pack up your bags and go back to your mountain!"

"Oh wouldn't I love that?" Wuming answered, getting back up, a hand wiping the blood from the corner of his lips. "I would very much like to get back there."

"Yeah, you should go to that and—"

"That's enough," Qing Chen said, tiredly. "Can't we all just calm down? Dial down your emotions just a notch. How are we supposed to be able to talk if this is what we're going to keep on doing? We just keep on wanting to bite each other's head off."

As if to prove a point, he sat down and looked at his older brother and father. Qing Lok wiped his hands on his pants and sat down next to him. They both waited for the next thing the other two men in the their family do.

Finally, shame overcame the both of them and with a hard glare at each other and Wuming shrugging his jacket, they both sat down opposite each other across the room.

"Thank you," Qing Chen said with a hard warning look in his eyes to Wuming. "Now, shall we get down to business?"

"Business?" his father scoffed from where he was sitting. Both his elbows on his knees. "You're siding on your brother on this?"

Actually, Qing Chen hadn't decided yet on which way he would go. But somehow something clicked inside of him. "Yes, I am going to side with Wuming on this. I want mother gone when we're done with Checks." He shifted on his seat and gestured to their mother to start talking. "Please give a brief summary for these two."

Hao Suyin was taken aback by the formality of her son. He had never been like this to her. But who was she kidding? Of course he would side with Wuming. She had been gone. She deceived them. Why did she expect that they would go running into her arms just like how they did when they were younger?

She was nervous to tell her sons. Qing Chen had called her stupid last night—well, not her but what she did. Nevertheless, it sounded the same in her ears. She cried all night because of it.

There she was… just wanting to touch them… to get close to them after all these years. They were, at last, within her reach but she had never felt farther from them. It felt like she was grasping at thin air.

The words came out of her mouth like she had already memorized it. She had thought long and hard on what she would say to her sons when she would be able to talk to them. She wanted to know what was happening in their lives. Have a good conversation.

Then all they wanted to talk about was what happened in her past life. Like they couldn't wait to get things over with and get rid of her again.

Hao Suyin gasped lightly at this realization. It was like a needle slowly making its way to the middle of her heart. It was slowly killing her.

"You were saying?" Wuming asked. He looked bored but at least he was looking at her. Qing Lok was staring at one of the biggest vases in the room like it was the most interesting thing in the planet.

"I killed most of them already, but with Checks leading The Order, he had been able to produce his own assassins over the years."

"So they're active now?" In all the years that Wuming had spent assassinating people, he had never heard of this ORDER. It was a weird thing that he didn't know. He should ask Addison about it.

"Yes, they are looking for me."

"I'm pretty sure they already found you," inserted Qing Chen. "They are just not attacking because we are a prominent family in the society. If we all just suddenly mysteriously died, the whole country would be bent on finding who did it. Is that why you came back here?"

"No!" she said. "Of course not."

"Okay," Qing Chen said. "Well, that's all that we needed to hear. Because honestly, we couldn't care enough for the rest. We are going to get started today." He stood up from his seat and looked at his brothers. He pointed at Qing Lok, "Assemble your team." Then to Wuming. "You too. I need eyes everywhere."

Both just sighed. Both of them didn't realize that they were really going to help their mother until Qing Chen gave them the orders. He turned back to his parents, both looking like empty shells. "I'll meet everyone in the other living room. You can come if you want."

His mother pursed her lips like she wanted to say something but she held it back. Qing Chen could tell as much. He almost wanted to ask her what it was because she looked troubled.

But the moment was gone and his mother nodded in agreement. "We'll meet you there."

Feng Xuan, Addison, and Liu Meilien waited anxiously in the other living room. The happy night was over and now they were going to be on a new mission wherein they are going to try and find the person that their special someone's mother couldn't catch for the past few years.

"Do you think she'll like us?" Liu Meilien asked, her nervousness evident in her voice.

Addison was biting on a thumb. "I don't think that really matters right now."

"Right, right," she answered, shaking her head. "Why am I even thinking about it."

"I mean, I get it. I got a pretty ugly feeling in my stomach right now too."

"What about you, sister?"

Feng Xuan turned her head. "I'm not feeling anything," she chuckled. She was scared that she was not feeling anything. She should be nervous but she just felt hollow on the inside.

After all, despite everything, she was going to meet the mother of her husband.

And speaking of, the doors of the room opened and Qing Chen walked in. There was not a thing that you could tell from his face.

"She's coming," was the only words that he said.
