Feng Xuan slowly worked her way through her bucket list. At this point, it hadn't become that tedious. She actually liked aerial yoga. However, with her whole weight off the ground, it only made her think about skydiving… with bullets raining down after her.
"So that was a nice experience," she told Qing Chen about it over dinner one night. But that was the end of it.
When she got the nose piercing paper, she shoved it back down the vase and cheated the day. As much as she wanted to get a new hole on her body, a piercing was not one of them at the moment. The outdoor activities were off the table at the moment as some of them were not for this season and she was getting busier with YANG.
They have started the production of the items that were going to be out on the runway, which meant that Wang Yimin was nowhere to be found in terms of the administration works. It was all passed to Liu Meilien and Feng Xuan's hands.
Their mornings and nights were filled with conceptualizing and choosing the right things while still giving the look of taking on new risks. In part of expanding her perspective to get on spring, she attended a few tea parties hosted by some of the older women. She also made a trip to a local farmer's market and found some of the spices she was looking for. She stocked up their pantry and got curious with a lot of the organic products. She also took a few pots of plants and was watering them. She did not think that they would last a week with her but they were pretty self-sufficient.
At this period of time, she was really feeling like her feet were finally somewhere stable. Although, there was still that buzz on her nerves that she was ignoring. It was the energy that refused to go away even after she had tried everything.
One night, she tried using it all up in the bedroom, but afterwards, while breathing hard and feeling her muscles were about to fall off, she took a few quiet seconds. But it was there still.
She could only roll her eyes as she got up and washed up.
Now, with a cup of steaming coffee in her hand, she was looking over the final plan for the fashion show. It was all coming together beautifully. She had to say that they really did step up from their last show. She was feeling excited as she looked over the production design for it.
"Mrs. Qing?" a voice from the door.
"Yes?" she answered, without looking back at the person.
"There's a woman here to see you."
"Oh, can you send her in?"
"Uhm, actually she said she would rather meet you outside."
That piqued intrigue in her. She didn't place herself in a pedestal but she never thought that there was a peron who would dare pull her out of her workplace when she was busy.
"Alright, no worries. I will be right out."
When she stepped out, she found the familiar car. It was one of the Qing's. Not her husband's. But her father-in-law's.
She felt like she was walking with bricks attached to her legs. This could not be good, she thought to herself. Was Qing Chen okay? Did something happen with the family?
But all those thoughts disappeared when the door opened and she saw that it was actually Qing Chen's mother inside. There was no sign of the grandmother. It was like she was splashed with ice cold water.
"Good afternoon, Mrs. Qing."
The older lady smiled at her. "I told you already, that's not me anymore. Come inside."
She didn't know where they were going but she got in anyway. Her mother-in-law was not going to kill her, right? She was wearing a pair of jeans that were frayed at some parts and a comfortable sweater. Feng Xuan was wearing work clothes, a cream pantsuit, suitable for the day but she suddenly felt like she was overdressed.
"I'm sorry for taking you away from your work," the woman said, still with that kind smile. "I'm sure you're terribly busy."
Feng Xuan found her voice. "No worries, Mrs. Qing. I need some fresh air as well."
"You can call me Suyin."
"Eh?"
"Well, Mother would be kind of overboard, wouldn't it?" she laughed good-naturedly. "I don't fit that description for a long time either. So it's alright, you can call me by my first name."
"Apologies, Mrs. Qing. I don't think I would be able to actually call you just that. How about just 'Missus'?"Find authorized novels in , faster updates, better experience, Please click #'s-rose-married-the-ceo_15939261805465305/the-mrs.-qings_52180587481453322 for visiting.
"Zihao told me that you're a delight and a very nice girl. I didn't think it would be this much."
Feng Xuan strained to smile. She knew that she was supposed to say something. But how do you actually talk to the former Mrs. Qing? Before she could stop it, the words were tumbling out of her mouth. "I'm sorry, Missus. I should have gotten in touch with you. I am very thankful that you are already back on your feet after the… unfortunate events from the past few weeks and I—"
"Oh hush," the woman said. "It's alright. I know that my children are harboring a deep grudge against me. I know that you just don't want to upset Qing Chen."
"Oh," was all she could say. She should've said that she could've contacted her secretly or even just popped up in the house to see how she was doing without her husband knowing—but of course, Qing Chen would know. Qing Chen always knew.
"You must be wondering why I am here."
She nodded slightly, feeling a little nervous as they were driving away from the center of the city.
"I have always wanted a daughter. It wouldn't be so bad if I am going to meet my first daughter-in-law, right?
Besides, we have lots to talk about."
