64 The Competition
He Miao rolled her eyes. Why was this person being so weird for no reason?
Jing Yan threw the bag in his hand to her and criticized her sternly, “You didn’t even remember to take your medicine.”
So she had left in a hurry last night and had forgotten to take her medicine along. He Miao’s expression softened, and she smiled. “Thank you.”
Jing Yan turned his head away, his ears turning pink. His eyes were focused and gentle. “Are you thanking me like this?”
“What else?” He Miao blinked and looked at him in confusion.
Jing Yan turned around and said with a wicked smile, “You should say thank you, brother.”
He Miao nodded in realization. Under Jing Yan’s expectant gaze, she picked up the medicine bottle and shook it. “So Grandpa Jing didn’t ask you to come, but you came to give me the medicine of your own accord?”
Jing Yan’s face darkened instantly. He stood up abruptly and looked at her with deep eyes. The milk smell in his nose drilled into his heart. “Don’t be so smug. Of course, grandpa asked me to come. I’ve delivered the medicine. I’m leaving.”
“Take care.” He Miao leaned back against the head of the bed coolly, stroking the dog in her arms with a smile.
Jing Yan’s figure suddenly stopped at the door. He gritted his teeth and turned back to glare at her unwillingly, but he was dazzled by He Miao’s bright and beautiful smile, and he ran out of the He family’s house as if he was escaping.
The weekends always passed quickly. He Miao could barely walk after two days of recuperation. The wound had begun to scab and looked like it had mostly recovered.
When she limped into the classroom, Xu Meng ran to the door to support her. “Goddess! I haven’t seen you in two days, and I really missed you! How are your injuries? Let me take a look!”
“Don’t worry,” He Miao sat on the chair and took a deep breath. but I’ll have to trouble you to accompany me to see Professor Xu after class.
“You’re looking for him?” Xu Meng nodded and placed the fruits she had prepared next to He Miao’s hand. “Want to try some? It’s very sweet!”
He Miao ate a small piece with a smile. “Something happened. The other students seem to be afraid of Professor Xu. Why aren’t you afraid of him at all?”
Xu Meng laughed strangely and lowered her voice, saying mysteriously, “Because he’s my uncle! Didn’t you realize that both of our surnames are Xu?”
He Miao smiled knowingly. “So you two are really relatives.”
Xu Meng waved her hand nonchalantly. “My uncle is too serious, especially when it comes to perfume making. He strongly urged me to choose this major.”
“You don’t like to make perfumes?” He Miao could see the desolation in her eyes and asked worriedly with a frown.
“No, it’s just that I can’t meet uncle’s requirements.” Xu Meng sighed. Seeing He Miao’s concerned expression, she smiled nonchalantly and her eyes lit up. “Oh right, uncle really likes you. He even mentioned you when he was having dinner with my dad.”
“What did he say about me? ” He Miao asked in surprise.
“He said…”
Before Xu Meng could finish her sentence, Xu Heng stood at the door and coughed. He pushed his gold-rimmed glasses up and walked into the classroom with a serious face.
The classroom, which had been noisy just now, suddenly fell silent.
Xu Heng had always been a serious person. He Miao was the only one who had seen him smile once in the laboratory.
Xu Heng’s morning class only took up the first period. After the class, he left in a hurry. He Miao saw that he had something urgent to attend to, so she could only wait until lunch break. Then, Xu Meng helped her out of the office to see Xu Heng.
“Professor Xu, I’m sorry to have delayed your lunch break,” He Miao said politely. “But I’d like to ask, when will our major have a competition?”
“You want to participate in the competition?” Xu Heng pushed up his glasses and looked at her through the thick lenses with dark eyes.
Even Xu Meng was so shocked that she could not help but interrupt, “Goddess, we haven’t learned how to make perfumes yet. How can we participate in the competition?”
He Miao took out the perfume she had developed and handed it to Xu Heng. “Sir, can you see if I’m qualified to participate in the competition with this? If possible, please give me a slot.”
Xu Heng was shocked when he saw the ingredients. He frowned and looked at He Miao in confusion. “You’re talented, but I want to know why you’re in such a hurry to participate in the competition.”
“It’s because I need spending money,” He Miao said sincerely with her eyes lowered.
