66 Confrontation Between Father And Daughter
He Miao glared back at him expressionlessly and stood at the door to confront him.
Neither father nor daughter was willing to speak first. They were at a deadlock, and the atmosphere in the living room became more and more tense.
Zhong Fei walked over to He Feng’s side and tried to calm him down. However, she glared at He Miao, who had not said a word. “Miaomiao, you’re too rude. Why didn’t you tell us that you were out with your friends until so late? Look at how worried your dad is about you.”
He Feng snorted coldly. He had thought that he would hear He Miao admit her mistake, and then he would make her apologize to Zhou Zhu and treat him to a good meal.
Who knew that He Miao had a face that was even more serious than his, without a trace of regret on her face.
“I didn’t go out to play. I’ve been at campus the whole time. If you don’t believe me, you can call the professor to confirm.”
He Feng glared at her and did not expect her to say anything soft to him, but he still had a use for her, so he could only sigh and persuade her sincerely. “You’re not a little kid anymore, and your grades are not good. Unlike your sister, you can’t have your own career. Mr. Zhou is a talented man, and he is deeply in love with you. You have to think about your future.”
Zhong Fei quickly chimed in, “That’s right, Miaomiao. Girls have to get married sooner or later. Young Master Zhou is good to you. Why do you have to be so tense with him? It’s not easy for your father to run the company. You have to help the family more.”
He Miao suddenly chuckled and nodded. “Did you choose to follow my dad because you wanted to help your family?”
“What are you saying!” He Feng kicked the chair beside him in anger. He was completely incensed by He Miao’s mocking smile. “Are you trying to rebel?! Who do you think you are? Since Young Master Zhou has taken a liking to you, what more do you have to be satisfied with?”
“Hubby!” Zhong Fei saw that He Feng had gone mad and quickly gave him a look. “Calm down. The child is insensible. You can talk nicely and sit down first.”
She could tell that ever since He Miao changed her major, she no longer paid any attention to them. The little girl thought that she had grown wings and was going to fall out with them!
She would never agree to it!
He Feng had invested the inheritance that He Miao had inherited from her maternal family into his own company many years ago. If He Miao really wanted to split from them, it would remove all his dividends he wanted to claim. If they were to file a lawsuit, they would be at a disadvantage.
Before He Miao signed the agreement and transferred the dividends to He Feng, none of them could act rashly!
He Feng’s eyes were wide open as he took a long time to catch his breath before he managed to regain his rationality.
Now was not the time to drive this girl away. He had to be patient, but as her father, how could he stand his daughter’s provocation?
He Feng angrily threw the things on the table and pointed at the stairs. “Go, go back to your room. Don’t let me see you!”
He Miao rolled her eyes indifferently and went to the kitchen to heat up a glass of milk nonchalantly. Then, she returned to his room while staring at He Feng’s greedy gaze.
Did they think that she was a soft piece of dough like the original host, that they could knead as they pleased?
She was capable, and her fragrance-making skills were enough to support herself. She was just keeping a low profile now. When she got the prize money, she would have the money to move out and rent her own house. She would no longer have to look at this disgusting family.
Onion seemed to have noticed He Miao’s bad mood. It obediently held onto her leg and looked at her with wet eyes.
He Miao’s heart instantly softened. She picked up Onion and rubbed its forehead affectionately. She had been going out early and returning late every day, so she rarely got to spend time with the little guy.
He Miao grabbed a piece of beef jerky and put it in its mouth. She hugged it and mumbled softly, “I’ll be leaving for a while in two days. I don’t feel safe leaving you at home, so I plan to put you in a pet hotel, okay? Onion?”
Jing Yan looked up at He Miao in a daze, even forgetting to chew the beef jerky in his mouth.
She was going to leave for a period of time? Where were they going? With who?
Even though he had a hundred questions in his heart, Jing Yan could not bring himself to ask.
He waited for He Miao at home for a long time. Finally, the joy he felt from his long-awaited return disappeared without a trace. Jing Yan chewed on the beef jerky in his mouth, not knowing what it tasted like. After swallowing it whole, he threw a tantrum and jumped out of her arms. He then shrank into a corner and shut himself in.
