151 Emergency Rescue
“I just called. He’s already on the way back.” The butler re-brewed the tea and advised with a frown, “You should rest for a while. Your body has not been well recently.”
“It’s okay. Don’t mention this to them when they come back later.” Old Master Jing’s heart was pounding. He stood up slowly with the help of the butler and said, “I’m going to lie down in my room for a while. When they arrive, call me.”
“Alright,” he said. The butler sighed. Unable to change Old Master Jing’s mind, he helped him to the bed.
When Jing Yan and He Miao returned home, the butler was in the courtyard, organizing some people to trim the trees in the garden. When he saw them, he immediately narrowed his eyes and smiled. “Young Master and Young Miss are finally back. The Old Master was just talking about you.”
“Where is Grandpa?” Jing Yan led He Miao into the living room first. Seeing that there was no one inside, the two of them went upstairs to look for him.
The butler quickly and unnaturally stopped him. “Young Master, you should sit with Miss He in the living room for a while. I’ll call the Old Master over.”
“Is Grandpa not feeling well?” He Miao sensed something unusual. She exchanged a glance with Jing Yan and could not sit still any longer, so they both went upstairs.
Outside the room, Jing Yan raised his hand and gently knocked on the door. He pushed the doorknob and entered the room. The old man was sleeping soundly on the bed. He did not react when they entered the room.
He Miao looked at the butler, who had lowered his head guiltily. She pursed her lips and walked to the bed. When she saw the old man’s pale lips, she knew that something was wrong. She lifted Old Master Jing’s eyelids to check and tested the old man’s breathing. She quickly called the hospital.
“What is this? The old man was still fine just now!” The butler knew that something had happened to Old Master Jing and was pacing around the room anxiously.
“Don’t worry, Grandpa will be fine.” Jing Yan forced himself to stay calm and cooperated with He Miao. After the two of them performed first aid on the old man, the ambulance finally arrived.
They helped to put the man on the stretcher, and Jing Yan drove to the hospital.
The lights in the emergency room were on for two hours before they finally went out. He Miao rushed to the doctor who opened the door and asked, “How is grandpa?”
“Fortunately, the patient has been given emergency treatment and is now out of danger. He just needs to stay in the hospital for observation during this period of time. Be careful not to let the patient overwork herself.” The doctor smiled and gave a few instructions before leaving.
Only then did He Miao’s heart finally relax. She fell to the ground weakly, and Jing Yan quickly pulled her into his arms.
He heaved a long sigh of relief. The heat on his face was unbearable, but he still forced himself to cheer up and comfort He Miao, “Grandpa is fine now. Let’s go to the ward with him.”
“Alright,” she said. Only then did He Miao stand up, supporting his hand. After the intense numbing and nervous feeling, her senses returned, and she noticed that Jing Yan’s palm was burning hot, and even his face was ruddy. “Jing Yan! You’re running a high fever!”
“I’m fine. I’ll go see grandpa first.” Jing Yan shook his head nonchalantly. He took He Miao’s hand and made way for the emergency room. He followed the doctor all the way to his grandpa’s ward before he sat on the sofa, panting heavily.
“Jing Yan, I’ll accompany you to the outpatient department.” He Miao resolutely pulled up Jing Yan, who was still in a daze, and dragged him downstairs.
Jing Yan took back his hand and shook his head. “Grandpa can’t be alone. You go and accompany him. I can go by myself.”
“Can you?” He Miao grabbed his sleeve in self-blame.
If she had not lost the bracelet, it would not have taken so long. Perhaps Jing Yan would not have been so sick after taking the medicine.
“I know you can’t bear to part with me, but I don’t have that much self-control now. If you continue to be like this, I won’t be able to help but collect some interest from the gift.” Jing Yan grazed the tip of her nose with a smirk and pushed her back into the ward before she was provoked. “Alright, just wait for me here. It’s not a serious illness. It’s just a common cold.”
He Miao walked back to the ward helplessly and sat by the bed, staring at Old Master Jing’s pale face in a daze.
She was right. Grandpa Jing was indeed going to have an accident in the near future, but fortunately, it was not life-threatening.
However, there were no more words about the old man in the later parts of the book. Was it because the author had neglected to write?
She did not think that an author would make such a big mistake for no reason. The book must have explained the whereabouts of the male protagonist’s grandfather at the end. Perhaps she had missed this detail. After all, she only took a quick glance and did not look at the characters other than the male and female protagonists.
When he mentioned He Wei, the female lead in the original book, He Miao immediately thought of another difference between her and the book-her attitude towards Jing Yan.
In the original book, the female protagonist’s attitude towards Jing Yan was not very favorable, but now, He Wei seemed to be very close to Jing Yan.
