179 Back To The He Family
He Miao had just arrived at Old Master Jing’s ward and had not spoken much when she received a call from He Wei.
“What happened?” Jing Yan looked worriedly at He Miao, who had a serious expression on her face after hanging up.
“Nothing much. Grandma just came back and wants me to go back for dinner.”
“Do you want me to go back with you?” Jing Yan furrowed his brows slightly. He could not help but feel angry at the thought of He Miao’s treatment in that family.
“No need,” He Miao shrugged and said indifferently, “It’s just a meal, there’s no need to make such a big fuss.”
“Then you have to be careful on your own. If there’s anything, just call me.” Jing Yan was still worried and did not want to let go of her hand.
Old Master Jing could not help but cough. “Jing Yan, why do you keep holding her hand? Let go.”
He was afraid that Jing Yan would scare her off if he kept being clingy.
However, when Jing Yan heard this, he grabbed her hand and pulled her into his arms as if he was declaring his ownership. “Grandpa, she’ll be your granddaughter-in-law from now on.”
“Who agreed to marry you?” He Miao shyly pulled herself away from her embrace, then looked at the old man’s joyful expression. Her face instantly turned even redder, and he hurriedly said, “Grandpa, I’ll be leaving first. I’ll come and see you next time.”
“Alright, go do your work.” Old Master Jing chuckled as he watched her escape. He finally felt relieved.
The He family house.
By the time He Miao arrived, there was already a wave of laughter coming from inside the house. There was no one outside the house. The He family had not arranged for any servants to welcome her, as if she was not even a part of the He family.
He Miao pushed the door open. As she entered, the laughter in the room stopped abruptly, and everyone’s eyes fell on her.
After leaving for so long, no one recognized this Second Miss from the countryside.
Especially Grandma He.
She had wanted to wait for He Miao to come back and teach her a lesson, but when she saw He Miao in person, she could not help but exclaim.
When she was first brought back to the He family, she was so uncouth and ugly. She did not expect that after being raised in the He family for so long, she would actually become so beautiful.
She looked up at He Wei and then silently at He Miao. She actually felt that He Miao was so much better looking than the eldest granddaughter she had always doted on.
“Why did you come back so late? You don’t care about an old woman like me?” Grandma He held her walking stick in an imposing manner, and the first thing she said was to reprimand He Miao.
The people in the living room who were still smiling just now immediately fell silent, waiting to see this joke.
He Wei happily took her grandmother’s hand and acted politely. Thanks to He Miao, her reputation on the internet had been ruined. She only hated that she did not have a better way to deal with He Miao.
Who knew that the heavens would give her such a good opportunity? Grandma He had just returned from her overseas trip. She could help her teach He Miao a lesson and not let her get too smug!
He Miao looked up at Grandma He, her eyes devoid of any of the kind of respect she had for Grandpa Jing. “I rushed over as soon as He Wei called me. It’s the peak hour now, so I’m already here as fast as I could.”
Grandma He snorted coldly and glared at her harder and harder. “You’ve grown a larger nose. You dare call He Wei by name? She’s your older sister! Do you even understand the order of seniority and respect?”
He Miao slowly sat down on the empty sofa across from her and poured herself a cup of hot tea. “Grandma, if we really talk about it, I’m the only legitimate daughter of the He family.”
“You’re impudent!” With a furious expression, Grandma He raised her walking stick and was about to hit He Miao, but the butler quickly stopped her.
He Wei was waiting to see He Miao get beaten up. She glanced at the butler in dissatisfaction, her eyes questioning why he had to be a busybody.
The butler smiled helplessly. If President Jing had not ordered him to take good care of He Miao without any mistakes, he would not have dared to stop Grandma He from disciplining her granddaughter in public.
Grandma He angrily pulled back her walking stick and glared at the butler. “Great, you’ve grown insolent in the days I wasn’t around! Are you trying to rebel?”
“Mom, don’t be angry.” Zhong Fei considerately walked over to help her up and patted her back to calm her down. “Brother Feng will be back in a while. If you have anything, just let Brother Feng handle it.”
Grandma He pulled her hand back unhappily and sat back on the sofa. Her cloudy eyes glared fiercely at He Miao, who was sitting opposite her.
Zhong Fei knew that the old lady did not like her much, so she gave He Wei a look to persuade her to stay.
He Wei smiled sweetly and poured the old lady a cup of hot tea. She said obediently, “Grandma, this is some good tea that dad specially found when he heard that you were coming back. Try it.”
“Weiwei is the best.” Grandma He sipped her tea, and her disdainful gaze finally moved away from He Miao.
This unfilial granddaughter of hers was becoming more and more like her insensible mother. Back then, she had disliked that woman very much. Not only did she always talk back to her, but she also tried in vain to interfere with He Feng’s company affairs. She must have been thinking about their family’s money!
