183 Fired
Jing Yan’s cold gaze could almost freeze a person. He looked at Li Xi, who was talking non-stop and still had evil intentions, and said impatiently, “You’re going to resign tomorrow. Don’t let me see you again.”
“President Jing!” Li Ci stood up in disbelief and raised her hand to clutch onto him, but he avoided it in disgust.
“President Jing, you can’t blame me for her not eating the food you sent. She was the one who didn’t know what was good for her. Besides, you only took care of her because of Grandpa Jing.”
Jing Yan coldly avoided her hand and said in a firm tone, “Who are you to call Grandpa Jing? Also, I don’t want to repeat myself. Disappear from my sight immediately!”
Li Xi was shocked by his cold tone. She shivered and walked out of the company building with a sad face.
After taking care of Li Xi, Jing Yan quickly drove to He Miao’s house and knocked on the door.
He Miao knew it was him from the sound of footsteps outside the door. She opened the door angrily and looked at him with a pout.
“Miaomiao, I was wrong. I’ve already fired her. Don’t be angry anymore, okay?” Jing Yan wanted to hold her in his arms as soon as he entered, but the obedient little girl in front of him refused to let him hold her.
He Miao pouted and glared at him unhappily. “She said she was very good friends with you when you were young! Childhood sweethearts, innocent playmates?”
“I really didn’t. I didn’t even talk to girls when I was young. It was all her nonsense!” Jing Yan was afraid that He Miao would misunderstand him, so he hurriedly explained.
Seeing his nervous and guilty expression, He Miao sighed softly. She was not angry at all. She just wanted to take the opportunity to tease him and scare him, but when she saw his wet eyes that looked like Onion’s, she suddenly could not bear to do it.
When he hugged her again, she stood still and let him hug her. When he was done, she gently pushed him away and rubbed her tired eyes. “Go back and sleep. I’m not angry anymore.”
Jing Yan confirmed it again and again. Seeing that her expression was normal, he finally relaxed.
However, he was reluctant to leave just like that. He pulled her to sit down on the sofa naturally and asked gently, “Where do you want to go this weekend? We haven’t had a proper date yet.”
“Anywhere is good.” After He Miao admitted that she liked Jing Yan, his words and actions became much bolder than before. It was already midnight, but she trusted Jing Yan and was in no hurry to chase him away.
Jing Yan’s eyes suddenly brightened, and he suggested, “You haven’t been to my house, have you? I’ve redecorated the unit upstairs. Do you want to go and take a look if you have time this weekend?”
“Alright.” He Miao nodded and smiled. “Then I’ll finish my work over the next few days. I’ll go to your house on the weekend when I’m free.”
At the mention of this, Jing Yan looked at He Miao with admiration. I heard that after the party, the waiting time for to place an order with you is all the way until next year.
“You’re very well-informed.” He Miao took out her phone with a smile and showed him the comments. There were so many that she could not read all of them. “But I’ll do what I can. When I’ve saved enough money, I’ll start my own company.”
“Actually, you can tell me if you need start-up funds.” Jing Yan couldn’t help but hold her hand in his to warm it. He asked with a wronged look, “Are you too embarrassed to ask me? I’m your boyfriend now, so it’s my duty to help you.”
“No, and even if you transfer the money to me, I won’t take it.” He Miao shook her head.
The aggrieved look in Jing Yan’s eyes shattered his heart into a few pieces, and his bright black eyes made her heart flutter. “You’d rather work with Xia Yan than me.”
“Because she’s an outsider.” He Miao explained in a low voice, as soft as a mosquito’s buzz, but she still remembered to hold back the shyness in her heart. In order to stop Jing Yan from overthinking, she continued, “I only want to work with her because she’s an outsider, but you’re different. I want to be independent enough to make everyone think that we’re a good match.”
In fact, this was not the only reason He Miao had chosen Xia Yan. However, from Jing Yan’s point of view, this might be the easiest reason to convince him with.
“If our relationship goes public in the future, people will naturally notice my family background. Once it’s revealed that I grew up in the countryside and that I’m an unloved daughter, people will inevitably gossip. I don’t want to hear those words, so I choose to rely on myself.
“And I also want to prove that I can do it.” She took Jing Yan’s hand with a sincere expression and blinked at him. “Do you understand me?”
“Silly girl,” Jing Yan heaved a long sigh and held her tightly in his arms.
How could he not feel heartache for such a strong and independent girl? Perhaps He Miao’s character was what attracted him to her.
He liked this smart and capable girl, so much so that he wanted to pluck the moon and stars from the sky and give them to her.
“Alright, I’ll go back first. You should sleep early.” Jing Yan’s voice was low and hoarse as he moved closer to her ear and breathed carefully. “Can I kiss you before I leave?”
He Miao was stunned for a moment, and his face turned completely red. The moment Jing Yan lowered his eyes in disappointment, He Miao wrapped her arms around Jing Yan’s neck and planted a light kiss on his lips.
