209 A Morning For Two People
Jing Yan sent He Miao home, then went upstairs to arrange Li Feng’s accommodation before returning.
He Miao was on her bed carefully reading the instructions for the ointment. When she heard Jing Yan enter, she looked up at him and said, “Thank you for being willing to let him sleep in your house.”
Jing Yan was angry. He pinched her little face and used a little force. Only when he saw her grimace in pain did he feel better. “Why are you being so polite with me?”
If she had not asked him to stay the night, Jing Yan would never have allowed strangers to invade his territory.
He Miao brushed his hand away with a smile and got up to put some dog food in Onion’s bowl, but she was stopped by Jing Yan.
“Be good and sit down. I’ll do it.”
He opened a bag of dog food and put all of it into Onions’ bowl. Then, he unscrewed a bottle of mineral water and poured it into another bowl. He turned around and carried the person on the bed.
“What are you doing!” He Miao was shocked by him and looked up at him in a daze. His little hand was still on his chest, and the warmth seeped into his heart.
“Don’t you need to wash up? I’ll carry you there.” Jing Yan answered matter-of-factly, and his hands did not hesitate as he carried her to the bathroom.
“I can walk on my own.” He Miao moved around in his arms, not used to it.
She only had a blister on her foot, not a cripple. How could she not walk?
Unmoved, Jing Yan carried her all the way to the sink before reluctantly letting her go.
He picked up the towel hanging on the other side and was about to wet it to help her wash her face. This time, He Miao rejected him sternly.
Jing Yan hung the towel back dejectedly and watched as she jumped off the sink, took out her toothbrush, and started brushing her teeth.
He pouted his lips and asked with a wronged expression, “Where’s my toothbrush?”
“I have a new one.” He Miao had the habit of buying an extra toothbrush for backup when she bought one, and it came in handy this time.
After the two finished washing up, Jing Yan carried her back to her room.
He Miao wanted to take out a blanket from the cupboard and let him sleep on the sofa, but Jing Yan was too tall, and the sofa was not long enough for him lie down fully. If he were to sleep on the sofa for the whole night, he might feel sore all over the next day.
She sighed helplessly and looked into Jing Yan’s wet eyes. She put the blanket on the side of her bed in compromise. “You can sleep on the outside. I’ll sleep on the inside.”
“Alright.” Jing Yan could not wait to hug her and sleep the whole night. He would feel happy even if he did not do anything.
He Miao changed her clothes and lay inside of the bed, facing the cold wall, waiting for Jing Yan to change his clothes and turn off the lights to go to sleep.
“Miaomiao.”
“Yes.” She felt a sudden depression behind her, and his cold and deep voice was right behind her ears. He Miao suddenly felt a little nervous for no reason.
“Can I sleep while hugging you?” After turning off the light, Jing Yan stared at the back of the girl in front of him in the dark.
He swore that if He Miao refused, he would keep his promise and not touch him for the rest of the night.
However, he did not expect He Miao to turn around and lean her head over. Even though she did not say anything, her meaning was obvious.
He immediately pulled her into his arms in pleasant surprise. Feeling the emptiness in his arms suddenly being filled by a warm body, Jing Yan’s heart beat faster with happiness. Even the arm holding He Miao was trembling slightly.
“Go to sleep.” In the dark, the sound of each other’s heartbeats was too obvious. He Miao said that shyly, then closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep.
“Yes,” Jing Yan responded softly, the corners of his mouth unconsciously curving up. He happily hugged He Miao and slept the entire night.
The next morning, Jing Yan was the first to wake up. He looked at the girl who was still sleeping in his arms and felt so happy that his heart was about to explode. However, he still tried to calm his heartbeat, afraid that he would wake the girl up and make her leave his arms.
When He Miao slowly woke up, it was already eight in the morning.
She suddenly sat up on the bed and lifted the quilt to get out of bed. It was only when she saw a pair of legs under the quilt that she realized that there was an extra man in the room.
She quickly covered herself with the blanket and glared at him unhappily. “When did you share the same blanket with me? I remember bringing you a new blanket.”
“I don’t know.” Jing Yan glanced at the blanket that had fallen to the ground and raised his eyebrows in a relaxed manner. “I was too tired last night. I don’t even remember how I got into your bed.”
Hmph! He Miao scoffed, her face flushed red. She hurriedly picked up her clothes and hid in the bathroom to change. After she had washed up, she managed to calm herself down and called out to him with a calm expression, “You can go brush your teeth now. I’ll go make a simple breakfast. I’ll be late for school.”
“Alright,” he said. Jing Yan narrowed his eyes and stared at her.
So this was the morning when He Miao was around. It was really different from when he was alone.
Jing Yan carefully savored the happiness of the two of them waking up together in bed, and a ridiculous thought suddenly came to his mind.
He suddenly wished Li Feng could stay at his place forever. That way, he would have a reason to hug He Miao to sleep.
