213 New Year’s Greetings
“Yeah.” He Miao did not deny it.
The reason why she agreed to move into the Jing family house so early was because she wanted to spend more time with Old Master Jing.
Ever since the old man was discharged from the hospital, He Miao could clearly feel that his body was getting worse day by day.
The old man was getting on in years and could not afford to wait. She could not be so cruel and let the old man regret not seeing her more often.
Jing Yan patted her head and forced a smile. “Don’t worry. At least for this new year, Grandpa will be happy to have you by his side.”
“Then let’s spend a good new year with Grandpa.” He Miao’s lips curled up into a sweet smile. She pulled Jing Yan back to the living room, not daring to leave for too long, afraid that the old man would be worried.
The new year was just around the corner and the entire Jing family was immersed in joy.
Old Master Jing gave red packets to all the servants who were not at home and the family sat together happily for the new year.
The courtyard had already been decorated with red silk by Butler Li, and He Miao and Jing Yan had personally pasted couplets and the word “Fortune” outside the door. The Jing family was in a jubilant mood.
Old Master Jing was so happy that he could not stop smiling the whole day. He raised his glass and suggested, “This year is a reunion year for our family. I’m very happy that Jing Yan and Miaomiao can be together. Today, let’s all sit down and have a few drinks together, shall we?”
The servants at home nodded in embarrassment and sat around the table. Seeing that Jing Yan had no intention of disagreeing, they smiled and raised their glasses.
After a few glasses of wine, the atmosphere gradually became lively. Everyone was bustling with excitement when suddenly there was a sound from outside the door.
Butler Li put down his wine glass and went out to see He Feng with his wife and daughter. They were carrying a lot of things to congratulate Old Master Jing on the new year.
As soon as he entered, He Feng saw He Miao sitting next to Jing Yan, and his eyes widened in disbelief. After exchanging glances with Zhong Fei, he suddenly came to his senses and walked over to Old Master Jing with a smile. “Old Master, we’re here to see you. How’s your health recently?”
“It’s alright. I won’t die so soon!” Old Master Jing glared at them, showing no intention of inviting them to sit down and talk.
When he entered the room, he could clearly see that He Wei and Zhong Fei were winking at each other because they saw He Miao spending the new year here.
This group of people’s consciences had long been eaten by dogs. They were living a good life, but they targeted their daughter. Were they not afraid of being laughed at?
Zhong Fei received He Feng’s signal and quickly put down her pride. She placed the carefully selected gift in front of Old Master Jing. “It’s just a small gift. It’s Weiwei’s idea. Please don’t mind it. As long as you get better, we’ll be at ease.”
“Yes, that’s very thoughtful of you.” Old Master Jing replied indifferently, and then looked down at the wine in his glass. His attitude of driving her away could not be more obvious.
However, He Feng had not achieved his goal yet and refused to leave. He immediately approached Old Master Jing with a smile.
The servants of the Jing family knew that this was a guest of the Old Master and even if the Old Master didn’t like him, they had to serve him carefully. Seeing He Feng coming over, the servants immediately stood up and stepped aside to make room for He Feng to speak.
He Feng sat beside Old Master Jing with a smile and poured himself a glass of wine. He said respectfully, “I came too abruptly and delayed you and your family’s meal. I apologize to you here. Miaomiao has disturbed you too much. This girl didn’t come home for the new year and is bothering you and Jing Yan. I’ll take her back and teach her well.”
“Who said that Miaomiao is disturbing me?” Old Master Jing snorted coldly and raised his arm to wave at He Miao. “Come here, my good child. Sit beside Grandpa.”
He Miao glanced at Jing Yan, then both of them got up and sat down on the other side of Old Master Jing.
Old Master Jing took Je Miao’s hand and smiled with relief. “You’re such an honest child. You knew that I wasn’t in good health, so you came here to take care of me early in the morning. You’re much better than those people who only know how to care for me and give me useless gifts.”
He Feng could not help but glare at He Miao and say, “You have moved to the Jing family house for a while? Don’t forget, you and Jing Yan are no longer engaged. Even if you are, you can’t just move in like that. Do you still have any shame as a girl?”
“Uncle He.” Jing Yan frowned unhappily and asked in a cold voice, “Are you implying that the Jing family doesn’t have any manners? Since you’ve mentioned my engagement with He Miao today, I’ll inform you that I’ll be re-engaged with Miaomiao next year. I’ll inform you of the time and address in advance.”
