Old Master Jing knew that Jing Yan did not want to talk about it, so no matter how he asked, it would be useless. He sighed deeply and stood up. “You’ve always been very opinionated. I won’t tell Miaomiao, but if you really can’t get better, you must tell me. You can’t hide it from Grandpa, understand?”
“I know.” Jing Yan stood up and sent the old man back to his room. After telling him to rest early, he closed the door.
Old Master Jing nodded in agreement with a tired face. Suddenly, he thought of something and grabbed Jing Yan, reminding him, “Miaomiao asked you to see her after you come back. Don’t let her find out.”
“Yes.” Jing Yan nodded slightly. After closing the door for Old Master Jing, he turned around and walked to He Miao’s room. He took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
He Miao had not slept until now because she had been waiting for Jing Yan to come back. When she heard the knock on the door, she immediately got out of bed and rushed to open the door. When she saw that Jing Yan was safe and sound, the heavy stone in her heart was finally lifted. “You’re back. Are you hurt?”
“No, I’m not.” Jing Yan remembered He Miao’s suspicion and his attitude unconsciously became distant. “It’s late. You should sleep.”
“You came just to tell me this?” He Miao could not hide her surprise as she grabbed his hand. She could not help but ask, “Are you hiding something from me?”
“No, I’m not.” Jing Yan turned his head away, his dark eyes hidden in the shadows where the light could not reach. He gently pulled his hand back. “I’m a little tired. Let’s talk about it tomorrow, okay?”
“Alright,” she said. He Miao nodded, thinking that he had really driven after the person who had threatened her. Worried about his health, she could only watch as he turned around and walked back to his room.
It was only when the door to her room was shut that He Miao squatted down in disappointment. She picked up the adorable Onion and gently rubbed its head, mumbling to herself, “What is he hiding from me?”
A woman’s intuition was sometimes so accurate.
Jing Yan knew that he would become Onion sooner or later, but he did not want to tell her the truth.
After he had become a dog, he had crawled into her bed to sleep with her. He had seen her take a bath naked. He had even licked her chin, palms, and slender neck. He had touched her body parts that no one else was allowed to touch.
He had done too many things that he could not do even if they were in different positions. He was afraid that He Miao would be angry at him if she connected the dots, so he could only try his best to keep it a secret and wait until it was inevitable before she found out the truth.
However, he did not want to lie to her. Even though he had used Butler Li and his grandfather to lie about what happened tonight, he still felt guilty. For a moment, he did not know how to face He Miao’s undisguised worry.
He felt that he had let her down.
After a sleepless night, Jing Yan did not fall asleep until the next morning.
He Miao had wanted to wait for him to have breakfast with Old Master Jing, but she waited in the dining room for a long time without him coming down. She had no choice but to have a hasty meal with the old man. After that, she walked to the door of his room in a daze and knocked on it.
Jing Yan had just fallen asleep. He was so exhausted that he did not even hear the knock on the door.
He Miao turned the doorknob and knew that the door was not locked. However, after a moment of hesitation, she gave up on entering his room without permission. She turned around and walked to the laboratory on the top floor, trying to divert her attention by making perfumes.
When Jing Yan woke up, it was already noon. He looked at the time on the clock and suddenly woke up. He got up, washed up, and rushed out of his room to find He Miao.
Butler Li was already waiting at the door of his room. When he finally came out, he said with a worried face, “The old master would like you to go to his study room.”
“What’s the matter with grandfather?” Jing Yan furrowed his brows slightly. He was worried about He Miao, but he had no choice but to follow Butler Li to see Old Master Jing.
Butler Li shook his head gently. “Maybe he’s worried about your health. He called a private doctor over.”
Seeing Jing Yan’s shocked expression turn into worry, Butler Li immediately understood and explained, “I didn’t let Miss He know. Miss He went to the laboratory upstairs after breakfast and hasn’t come out yet. Don’t worry.”
Jing Yan nodded, but he started to worry about how he was going to deal with this.
In the study, Old Master Jing was still worried about his grandson’s health. He secretly asked Butler Li to bring the private doctor to the study. This way, even if He Miao found out, he could explain that it was just a routine physical examination for him and not let her suspect Jing Yan.
As soon as Butler Li opened the door, Old Master Jing turned around and waved at Jing Yan to come over. He then introduced the old doctor sitting on the sofa to Jing Yan, “This is my comrade-in-arms, Old Chen, since when I was young. Let him have a look. He’s better than those medical equipment in the hospitals!”
