245 Confirmed Time
He Miao raised her hand and patted its head. She stared into its dark eyes for a long time, letting its smooth little tongue lick her fingertips. She could not help but smile and say, “If Jing Yan sees you wake up, he’ll be very happy, right?”
The dog’s body on the hospital bed suddenly stiffened. Jing Yan retracted his soft little tongue and lay back on the bed with a dazed expression, staring at He Miao expectantly.
Chen Zhao did not know what was going on, so he quickly added, “You’re right. If President Jing knows that your beloved puppy is out of danger, he will be happy for you!”
He Miao raised her eyes and stared at him with a smile. “Then quickly give him a call and tell him the news!”
Chen Zhao was slightly stunned. He nodded hesitantly. “Alright, I’ll make the call now.”
In the afternoon, Butler Li had said that President Jing might not be able to come over because something had happened at home. However, it was already eight o’ clock in the evening. No matter how busy he was, it should be time for him to rest.
He dialed Jing Yan’s number with uncertainty, but no one picked up after a few calls. He had to put down his phone and look at He Miao with a guilty and uneasy expression. “Miss He, President Jing might still be busy. Should I leave him a message and ask him to call you as soon as he’s done?”
“Alright,” she said. He Miao deliberately showed a disappointed expression in front of Onion. The joy in her beautiful eyes from Onion’s awakening had faded slightly, and Jing Yan’s heart clenched.
He hurriedly moved forward a short distance. The wounds on his body were in pain from being pulled by him, but he did not care at all. All he wanted was to be a little closer to He Miao’s hand. Then, he stretched his neck as far as he could and rubbed his furry dog head against her fingers, silently comforting his Miaomiao.
He Miao lowered her eyes and looked at Onion calmly. It was just like before, as if it could understand her words and made some unexpected cute movements.
Feeling the warmth on her fingers, He Miao retracted her hand. Under Onion’s shocked gaze, she got up and walked out.
Chen Zhao hurriedly asked the people waiting outside to take care of the puppy. He jogged after her, afraid that something would happen if she left his sight.
“Miss He, where are you going? Aren’t you going to stay here with little Onion?” Chen Zhao found her attitude strange. ‘Wasn’t she worried the whole day? Why was she leaving now that the dog had just woken up?’
“Let’s go back to the hospital.” He Miao finished speaking expressionlessly and walked out of the hospital. She let Chen Zhao open the car door for her and resisted the urge to turn back. She did not look back. She let Chen Zhao drive her back to the hospital and obediently wentback to recuperate as everyone had expected.
Jing Yan stared in shock at the girl’s back as she turned around and left without hesitation. His heart felt so uncomfortable that it seemed to have been broken into pieces. The inexplicable grievance made his eyes tear up.
The last time he was injured, He Miao had stayed by his side all the time. Why did it seem like she did not care about him that much in the blink of an eye?
Then again, Jing Yan was not completely unconscious the whole day. It was as if he was locked in a cage of unconsciousness. Although he could not open his eyes or move, he could still hear the voices outside.
He knew that He Miao had been with him for the entire day and should have returned to the ward to rest, but he still felt disappointed at her sudden indifference.
Did she ask Chen Zhao to send her back to the hospital because she suddenly felt unwell?
Jing Yan was shocked by his own thoughts. His heart thumped, and he wished he could turn back right now so that he could rush to the hospital to see He Miao.
Finally, Jing Yan woke up at nine o’ clock.
Since his consciousness had finally returned to his body, Jing Yan did not waste any more time. Recalling He Miao’s dejected expression, he hurriedly took out his phone and dialed He Miao’s number.
On the other end of the phone, He Miao looked coldly at the caller ID on the screen. After confirming that the time was nine o’ clock in the evening, she heaved a sigh of relief. Then, she pretended to be pleasantly surprised as she picked up the phone, and her voice was deliberately filled with joy. “Jing Yan! You’re finally awake! Is your body alright?”
Jing Yan’s consciousness had been in inside Onion the whole day, so he did not know that He Miao had come to the house. When he heard her ask about his body, his mind went blank, but he quickly recovered and said calmly, “Yes, I’m fine. How did you know I was sick?”
“I went back to the Jing family house,” He Miao said, pretending to be relaxed. “Butler Li said that you were feeling a little unwell because you were overworked. So, he asked me to come back.”
Jing Yan heaved a sigh of relief when he heard that. He got up, put on his coat, and walked out. “Wait for me. I’ll go to the hospital to see you now.”
“You don’t have to come,” He Miao advised softly. “It’s cold at night, and you’ve just recovered from your illness. You have to rest well.”
“I’m fine now.” Jing Yan said with certainty as he quickly got into the car. He drove fast and arrived at the hospital in a hurry.
