Mu Yuchen interrupted before Gu Qiwu could finish his sentence, so the latter turned over and noticed his dangerous gaze.

"Don't try to compare my woman with yours. Doris is way out of her league," Mu Yuchen warned.

Gu Qiwu smiled as he gave Mu Yuchen a meaningful glance. "It seems like you're pretty dedicated to Xi Xiaye. Aren't you afraid that she might be in danger by showing me this side of yours? Have you forgotten what happened a few years ago?"

Mu Yuchen's expression darkened. "Only people without confidence would think that way. Didn't you just tell me how much you loved Doris just a moment ago?"

"Our situations are different, Ah Chen," Gu Qiwu squinted his eyes and said quietly.

"That's just your excuse. From what you've just said, you did all of that just to protect your children, didn't you?" Mu Yuchen's eyes were hard as if he was treating Gu Qiwu like some sort of a joke.

Gu Qiwu's expression froze. "I won't deny that I want to be freed from Doris' control, but the main point is about the siblings. Believe it or not, I have no reason to lie. Lingtian is my only son. No one could've felt worse than me when he died."

"Do you think I can trust you?" Mu Yuchen glanced over as he grinned. "Both you and your wife are brilliant! Using your own children as gambling chips, I believe you're still a notch better than me in this aspect, and so is Qi Feng."

"Ah Chen, you're not me. You wouldn't understand what I'm going through."

"Perhaps I really don't. No matter what your reasons are, it doesn't justify your lie. Those shouldn't be the reasons for you to betray a woman and even abandon your own children. I've told you before that I've given you chances, but you gave them up."

Mu Yuchen took a deep breath and looked away. "You shouldn't have looked for me today." His chest tightened as he was reminded of how Wang Hui had died with regret in her heart.

"You should've expected my arrival! You kept Doris' matter a secret. You were just waiting for a chance to strike me down, weren't you?! And there's the matter about your aunt too. You're forcing me to make a choice now!" Gu Qiwu's tone turned chilly.

"Don't think that everybody is as cunning and shameless as you! Do you really think Qi Feng would've missed this chance if I didn't tell anyone? I'm just a little bit quicker than him."

"What do you mean?" Gu Qiwu asked coldly.

"You know very well what I mean. There's no need to ask me again."

Gu Qiwu's expression darkened and he did not say anything.

"As for Doris, I'm just telling the truth. You can act as if nothing happened if you can stomach it. Continue your life as it is."

"Do you really think I can still continue my life as if nothing happened? Do you know that Doris has already filed a divorce? Not only did she betray me, but she's also ripping me off!" Gu Qiwu's anger was rising within him.

"She thought she was in control of everything. I'll make sure she knows that everything she's trying to protect is nothing but a joke."

"You should really tell Doris what you just said."

"No, Ah Chen, I know what your aim is. Lingshi is my daughter after all. I won't owe her what she deserves, but…" Gu Qiwu's voice turned grim.

"Are you saying that you intend to officially tell everyone that Lingshi is your daughter?" Mu Yuchen squinted his eyes at him.

Gu Qiwu remembered the moment when he met Mu Lingshi in the hospital. Her eyes had been filled with sorrow. "I met with Lingshi once in the hospital, I'm sorry for your loss of your grandmother. I know it's somehow related to me, but it's all in the past now and I can't do anything to change that. You should know this better than anyone else."

"She has an extreme bias against me now, so…"

"So, do you mean she should be very grateful for you?"

Mu Yuchen smiled. "Lingshi never hoped to get anything from you. She's the Mu family's treasure, and we're not any worse than the Gus."

"I don't mean that, Ah Chen! I just hope she can forgive me. I was wrong." Gu Qiwu took a deep breath as he gripped the railings tightly and stared at the cemetery for a while before he continued, "Don't doubt my feelings towards the two of them. I've been keeping a watch on them closely although I know they might be better off staying by your side. I don't think you're going to believe me, so I'm going to stop talking about them. The reason I asked you to come today is that I want you to convince Lingshi to forgive me. Besides, I believe you wouldn't want Doris to win the lawsuit against me, would you?"

"It doesn't matter who wins. Don't even think about using Lingshi or me. I just hope you can give my aunt and Lingshi a responsible answer. You owe them that," Mu Yuchen said casually.

He felt rather pressured. Although he found out about Lingtian's reason from Qi Feng, after talking with Gu Qiwu, he realized the matters he prioritized might not be that important in the eyes of others.

"I won't interfere anymore if you stop hurting the people I care about. I'm respecting Lingshi's wishes. However, if you're going to try something funny, I'll definitely play the game with you, but now, we will leave each other alone." Mu Yuchen then left as he felt tired.

"Ah Chen!" Gu Qiwu called out to him when he was leaving.
