As I landed with a helicopter on top of a hill around 2 kilometers away from the Magus Tower like structure, I see 150 robots that were in a formation surrounding the helicopter. Of course, I didn't forget to bring the newer type of robots with me.
Five other helicopters descend to the side and from inside appear 10 'Battle Robot' that had knight posture and the exact same that I fought before, 5 'Animal Robot' that had the spider form, and of course 3 'Assistance Drone Robot' that will be helping on scanning and scouting the area ahead. I decided not to bring the 'Bomber Robot' as it wasn't effective in this kind of place.
Then, I ascend the hill to see the Magus Tower that I previously see in the hologram screen in the base. I take out a sniper rifle with a scope from my bag that I already prepared for this expedition, I decided to give my mithril sword to one of the robots as it was a burden to bring, I also don't want to risk my life going melee in an unknown place. Then, I point the sniper to the Magus Tower and use the scope to see it clearly.
From it, I see an Ancient Magus Tower in the middle of a circular ravine that had a waterfall encircle it from the slope of the lake above. The waterfall was filling the ravine but never filling it up. There was a path leading to the tower in the middle of the lake as if cutting it half.
It seems that the lake sometimes emits haze, which makes anyone that ever come cross here didn't find anything peculiar in this place. The only reason I could even found this place was the map and the advance reconnaissance unit I had.
"What a wonder of this world.." I mumbled to myself in amazement of the unnatural thing I just see in this world.
After savoring the beautiful scenery from above the hill, I decided to come down and start the campaign of the ruin.
Then, I ordered all of the robots to lead the path in front. This time I will be joining on the offensive instead of just observing from afar like before, though I will still be in the very back of the formation, safe from all kinds of danger that might come.
The path that leads to the tower was only around 15 or so meters wide, making only 10 robots that could past at a time. As I intrude on the path in the middle of the lake behind the formation, I feel that this was too easy.
The path wasn't that long, only around 50 or so meters, we pass through it without any disruption and dangerous until we reach in front of the stone bridge that connected the slope to the tower.
At each side of the bridge, two stone statues around 5 meters tall were displayed, and as the robots advance closer and closer, a crack starts to appear on the two statues.
From inside of it, emerge a stone golem in the shape of a giant cyclops around 5 meters tall. It had one eye made of stone that could roll in the middle of the face and an inscription around its body.
"A golem? A genuine magic golem?" I shout in shock from the sight I just see.
Then, a sound of hoarse voice could be heard from one of the golems,
"Intruder detected, it shall be eliminated!" it said in a hoarse voice, as it takes a chunk of rock around it and starts swinging it like a club.
Then the cyclops golem swings its club sideway swiftly as if swinging a racket. The robots in front was smashed flying without getting a chance to use the electromagnetic shield. It shattered as the remains of the robots fall into the lake at the side.
"Shit so fast, from its speed and strength alone, it's equal to a peak Knight expert!" My face got ugly after just seeing the first attack of the magic golem.
'I need to make the robots to back off a little and use range attack, as melee attack is simply impossible in this narrow place.' Then I began commanding the robots to do as I plan.
As the robots back off a little, the front robots begin to use the electromagnetic shield. As for the one in the back, it used all kinds of explosives weapons such as RPG and bazooka. Unfortunately, I only bring a few explosive weapons.
I also directed the 'Battle Robot' to be the frontline as it has stronger strength than other robots. As for the spider robot, I put it in the back since it was useless in this kind of warfare, and for the 'Assistance Drone Robot' I ordered it to fly near the enemy to scan the weakness and give support.
Just then, the robot in the middle starts shooting with the explosives weapon and pulse rifle. Sadly, the attack wasn't too effective, it only manages to crack them slightly as the Cyclops golems block most of the attack with its club and hand. Even if it can't block all of it, the sporadic shoot isn't doing enough concentrate damage.
Subsequently as if being rage, the Cyclops golems swing their club downward straight to the 'Battle Robot' in front. Instantly shattering the shield and crushed two of the 'Battle Robot' that was just right below the club.
"Shit, that was a robot that capable to knock me 5 meters away easily!! This golem is way too strong!" I cursed in dread.
After the 'Assistance Drone Robot' finished scanning the weak spot of the golems. I ordered all of the golems in the back to start firing at its weakness.
The Cyclops golems didn't just stay, it began rampaging and attacking the robots in front and start pushing the robot army again and again.
Although the robots in the back keep firing their weapon, it only damages the Cyclops slightly as if it doesn't matter if it was being attacked at its weakness spot.
As the battle progress, I noticed something peculiar. Despite pushing my robot army, again and again, it starts showing a hesitation attitude. That makes me realize something and start ordering the robot to retreat.
As the robot started to retreat around 40 meters away, the Cyclops golems stop its chase and got back to the platform of the statue before.
"Ahh.. stupid golem, they aren't programmed to chase." Well, the golem was used to drive away medieval army anyway, even if archers were to shoot it from afar, the arrows won't damage it in the least.
Not even a Knight rank powerhouse capable to damage it with an arrow and throw weapon much less a mage with magic that wasn't concentrate on force. Even advanced weaponry only manages to crack the golems.
As for expert even stronger? They wouldn't need to trouble themselves to fight it on the range, they could just blast the golems into smithereens with their power.
Unfortunately, I didn't bring tank or artillery with me to blast the golems from afar. My greatest chance is to use an explosive trap that I bring but that needed certain confirmation before being able to use.
Then, I ordered one of the robots to approach the golem slowly to measure the distance of the golems being active.
As the robot getting closer and closer, it passes 30 meters distance without activating the golems. It still getting closer slowly as if it is scared to wake up a sleeping beast.
Just as it was about to cross 20 meters distance between the golems and the robot, the golems suddenly got activate again and start moving. One of the golems jump and crush the robots with its body weight before going back to the platform.
"So, the safe distance was between the range of 20 to 40 meters from the golems. I need to position some of the robots at 35-40 meters distance as bait to aggro the enemy after baiting it and of course, spread them out to minimize damage. As for the land mines, I placed them between 20-30 meters, so to not damaged the robots." I said in deep thought, as I start to regret not bringing a 'Bomber Robot'.
I also decided to use helicopters to aboard robots that will use explosive weapons so as to not being blocked by an ally in front. As for the rest that wasn't used as the bait, I position them at 60-meter distance as if it was placed too far, it won't be as effective. After deciding the plan, I ordered the robots to start planting the land mines.
After that was done, the robots that were on position began aiming their weapon to the golem. Charging the ammunition and preparing to shoot.
"Begin!" I decreed for the plan to begin.
Then all of the robots fire their weapon simultaneously at the golems, instantly causing an explosion that definitely damages the Cyclops golems.
As the Cyclops golems start activating again, it marches to the robots that were within range and was getting closer and closer to the landmines that had been planted between them.
'Boom'
A sound of an explosion was heard as a cloud of small mushrooms appeared around the vicinity of the golems. Sadly, the golems appear out of the smoke with only one missing arm for the left Cyclops golem and a big crack for the right one.
"Shit, just how hard they are?" I growled in frustration and began aiming the electromagnetic sniper rifle that I carry and start shooting its eyeball.
The robots were continuously firing weapons damaging the Cyclops Golems bit by bit. As the golem got near the robots, it starts swinging its club and send the robots in the frontline flying everywhere.
As I feel the situation became ugly, I ordered the robot to retreat behind the 40 meters perimeter but strangely this time, it doesn't work.
"Such bad luck, if it still works the previous plan could still be implemented again," I spoke in dejected expression.
After two minutes passed, as more and more robots were sent flying, one of the Cyclops Robots that had a big crack shatter into pieces as it was bombarded by a rocket again and again. The other one didn't last long, as it got shattered into pieces following the first one.
"Finally, for god sake, this is crazy! Vonix, scan the reason why this Golems is so tough and the report for the causalities of the robots." I ordered in relief for the battle finally over.
["Affirmative, Scanning Initiate… Scanning Completed… from the data gathered, the raw material used to make this golem wasn't a normal stone but a moonstone. As for the causalities, we lost 4 'Battle Robot' and 47 'All Purpose Robot']" Vonix replied in a monotone voice.
"Damn, that's a third of our force. Moonstone? From what I know, it was a rare stone that got its power by absorbing the light magic of the moon." I said in deep thought.
["That wasn't all, there is also magic inscription at the body of the golems, possibly enhancing its capability by many folds. This indicates that there might be a magic stone in its body that used as a core to power up the inscription"] Vonix added.
"No wonder it was so strong, even equaling a peak Knight expert. Then, what are we waiting for? Start searching the magic stone!" I ordered the robots on the side to start scavenging the remains of the Cyclops Golems.
Ten minutes after, the robots manage to uncover two fist-sized magic stones from inside the remains of the golems.
"A medium-quality magic stone!!" My eyes shone in greed, as I touch the two magic stones carefully.
A medium quality magic stone is so precious that only a real Magus had them. Even if someone were to offer 100 low-quality magic stones, no one would accept that as it was simply too rare.
Just then, I realize that the magic stone was already dim by more than half of it, indicating the exhaustion of the magic stone.
"Well, the golems had been standing in there for millennia, I should consider myself lucky to get this much. The reason it still even had some was because the golem almost didn't use it at all." I sighed in acceptance, as I carefully put the magic stone in a case and deliver it to the base.
"Now it's time to open the 'pandora box'" I ordered the robot to take the lead and open the door of the Magus Tower.
