"Father," Theodora steps forward and raises a hand to her heart. Everyone in the room, including myself, was surprised this was the first time that she had called him Father.
His violet eyes look towards her with a mixture of surprise and love, although he did his best to hide it. He was defiantly a father-con, the look in his eyes reminded me of when Salem looked at me.
"Hollis and I have entered into an agreement. She will help us to repel the goblins that are coming for us. She will be a great addition to our power. I would say that she is at least as strong as General Devos!" She says her eyes burning.
Wow, that was a nice compliment. Although, she was not wrong, I was actually probably a little stronger than him. Even though my level was lower than his. I still had a lot of tricks up my sleeve. It would be safe to assume that I could defeat him, but at the cost of some bloodshed on my part.
They all turn and look at me. Everyone except the Drunk man, he seems to be just fine with her explanation.
"Why would she possibly be willing to help us? Even if she's a Vampire with the information provided by the scout. Her help wouldn't make much difference," Lowell huffs.
Bitch…
"I also want to refuse. She is but a child. I can't put a child in front of harm's way!" Devos says resolutely.
I try my best to keep myself from glaring at Lowell. But she was a nightmare of a woman. She wasn't classy at all. Nothing about her made me feel warm and friendly towards her. I didn't really care if her affection or favorability towards me rose or not.
Out of the three of them, the one that I wanted to befriend was the Guild Master. I knew that wasn't his name but that's what appeared above his head. Not to mention the fact that he has question marks for the important information.
He was either going to be helpful to me, or he would be the knife in my back. I hope for the latter.
"Those are very narrow-minded views don't you think?" I ask.
"What do you know? You were enslaved to the dark teaching of the Black God before this, were you not?" She retorts sharply.
Well, it seems that she was just being prejudice towards me.
"That was before, and this is now. Your standards of judging if you want my help are idiotic. I have already entered into a contract with Theodora," I say grinning.
"You spiteful little child," she growls.
"Now you don't really know how old I am. Please refrain from treating me as if I am a child. I assure you that I just look like one. My thoughts are far from childish," I sneer at her.
Her orange eyes burn bright as she glares darkly at me.
"Stop!" The chilling voice of the governor washes over my body. Those violet eyes are burning into my body.
"We don't have time for childish bicker from anyone. If you intend to help the city then you are welcomed but remember that your leash is short. The only thing that's keeping us from slaying you right here, and now is the goodwill of my Daughter," he explains with a menacing glare.
"I understand," I reply back simply.
Lowell makes no move to respond, but she turns her nose up at me and returns to her seat.
"Now let's get back to the pressing matter at hand. We've got the potential invasion of three thousand goblins," he speaks urgently.
I felt my eyes widen. They are gravely underestimating the amount of goblin that could descend on this place at the moment. This was some sick joke that someone had played on them.
"Our scout has returned and found that those estimated might be a little low. It seems that there has been more activity. The five towns to the north have been completely wiped out and destroyed. All of the supplies in town have been picked clean as well," Devos explains.
"Those disgusting creatures have also taken all the women. They even went so far as to take the young girls. No doubt, taking them to bluster their ranks. They killed all the men and young boys. Leaving their bodies on display throughout the villages. Almost as if it is some sort of warning," Lowell says clenching her hand.
It was an unpleasant thought to think that women and even young girls are currently experiencing all sorts of terror at the hand of those disgusting creatures.
"We should operate under the assumption that there is a Goblin Champion at least in their ranks," the drunk man says.
It was the first time I'd seen his face. He was handsome, although a bit scruffy. His face had a short beard and his eyes are as dazzling as a river. His features are sharp and angular, and it almost made me forget that he was drunk.
"Odd you're over assuming their strength just a bit, don't you think?" Devos speaks with a frown.
The drunk, whose name is Odd, lowers his head again and look towards me.
"Well then we shall see whose prediction come true, don't you think, Devos?" He retorts.
I couldn't see his eyes any longer, but I knew that they were looking dead at me. It was a little unnerving to say the least.
"We can't rule out either of those scenarios. It's safe to assume that the worst might happen and there could be a Goblin Champion. If so then that would mean that we'd also be facing Trolls or even a Hobgoblin," Governor Yor says darkly.
Thankfully someone is starting to see reason.
"Theodora, you said that you were assaulted by Mages and Healer?"
"Yes! We were attacked by Mages and Healers, that was leading a small hoard of goblin soldiers," she says quickly.
"You also reported that Hollis was the one that took care of the mage and healers. Along with the stragglers of the small hoard?" He asks.
"Indeed, she managed to completely eradicate the enemy's mages and healers," she responds.
Governor Yor looks at me again. However, this time I don't sense any hostility or distrust. It just seemed like he was purely interested in me.
After a moment of him looking at me, he speaks. "I will assign you a task."
"I'm honored, but I will have to ask that this task be presented as a request. I've made it clear to Theodora that I will only be taking a request from her. If by proxy this is a request that she will approve then I will gladly accept it," I say with a small bow.
A strange expression appears on his face, but he takes a deep breath.
"You imp-" Lowell starts. But Yor raises his hand and she quiets down.
"It would seem that you knew, I would make a request of you. You've planned ahead, it would seem," he says.
I just give a smile. I'd indeed planned ahead.
"Very well, then by proxy I'd like to request that you help with the teaching the guards and soldiers how to properly slay goblins," he states.
[Formal Request: Teach the Guards, Rally the Troops]
[Do you accept both of the requests?]
"I will carry out the request that you've asked of me," I say softly.
[Request Accepted: Teach the Guards]
[Request Accepted: Rally the Troops]
[Details of the Request will be outlined for your convivence.]
[Teach the Guards: Train the 30 Guards under Governor Yor's Banner. The time limit that you have is three days. The guards must become proficient enough to slay Hobgoblins!]
At the same time a new counter appeared underneath of the goblin meter.
[Guards Trained: 0/30]
[Rally the Troops: Train the 800 soldiers under the cities to command to withstand the on slat of goblins that will threaten the wall. The requirement for the soldier's being able to slay soldier level goblins. Time Requriment before the City is under siege.]
Again, a new meter appeared.
[Soldiers Trained: 0/800]
I wanted to curse out the damn Governor. He had all these soldiers, but they weren't able to handle at least a mere soldier level goblin. The guard was a different story, that made sense that they didn't know how to take down a Hobgoblin.
Wasn't this a little bit too much to ask for?!
