The awkward silence only lasted for a few seconds before Oliver stood up and came forward to greet the young King. By doing so, he also gave time for his disciple to calm down and become presentable.
"Um, Your Highness, it's good to see you finally. Thank you for the kindness that you have shown us, even though we participated in this war as your enemy. We will forever be indebted to you."
"No need to feel indebted to me, Mister Oliver. A friend of a friend is naturally a friend of mine too. Anyway, please excuse my tardiness; I made you wait for me; something important came along when I was coming here." Danny said and showed through his speech and action that it wasn't something fret about.
They were his friend too.
Danny then turned to look at the two girls. One of them was helping the other to wipe off the tears.
"Um, they must be your disciples, Melinda and Elaina, right. Is there any problem?" Danny asked the old man as he pointed at one of the girls.
"Ah, It's… um, she couldn't help it. Before coming to this place, Elaina, my disciple, had lost a relative of hers. If it weren't for the clan orders, I would not have brought her here when she is still in grief."
"Lost a relative? Who?" Danny asked, very much shocked. He didn't think the girl would lose someone when she left the Seashell-Island. Something awful must have occurred during their travels or after they reached their destination.
Suddenly, Alex remembered the hatred he had seen and the intense killing intent that he had sensed from Elaina when she heard the term Second prince in the last battle. Alex was sure this matter had something to do with that royal prick.
"It's my father, Your Highness," Elaina replied instead of her Master. She had already regained her stern look, but her red eyes and cheeks still betrayed that she had cried not long ago.
"…I'm sorry for your loss, miss Elaina," Danny said after a momentary silence.
He then continued, "There's a saying. Death is not the end. There is life after death, and it is not what everyone thinks; it's better! Death is, after all, the next great adventure. I hope your father finds peace in this new life and has his own great adventure."
'I'm a prime example, after all,' Alex thought about his reincarnation. Even though his circumstances were a little different, it was still the truth that he had 'died' on earth.
"Thank you, for your kind words, Your Highness. I feel better already," Elaina said. It really did seem like that. Her mood was definitely lifted, though how it was still unknown.
"So, tell me, is there something I could help with? No need to hesitate, as long as it is within my ability, I would definitely help you guys." Danny said after he sat on the opposite side of Elaina with Oliver and Melinda sitting on either side of his.
No one spoke immediately. Maybe it was because Danny had already helped them leave the safely and also because they didn't know each other very well, it didn't feel right to ask for more help from the young King. At least, that's what Oliver and Elaina thought, but Melinda seemed to think differently.
She said, "Your Highness-" but was interrupted.
"You can call me by my name when we are alone. Not to mention, I'm talking to you here as a friend of Alex so that we can ditch all those annoying formalities," Danny said with a small smile.
"If that's how you want. Um, Danny, we do have a little problem. I guess you can't call it little; it has something to do with the second prince." Melinda said before she started talking about how they got on bad terms with such a kind of a prick.
Oliver didn't like asking a person who he hadn't known for long any kind of help. Still, since he was already indebted to him and this matter concerned the fate of his disciples, he stayed quiet when Melinda revealed their feud with the Second Prince of the Armen Kingdom.
Elaina just sat there listening. Even Alex was having a hard time reading her face.
"He really is a shameless and insidious royal prick. I should have killed him in battle yesterday. That leech is a burden to humanity…" After listening to the whole tragedy that had befallen Elaina and his family, Danny said.
When Oliver had brought the Yandell family and his entourage to join the Clan, they met that god of nuisance and disaster there in the Clan's compound. It seems that he had come over there to meet the young Master of the Eberhart Clan.
And when he saw Brenna, the mother of Elaina, he became bewitched by her even though she was married, older, and with a kid of the same age as him, it didn't stop him from using his position to try and get her sleep with him. He first tried the gentlemen's manner, which was to ask her with the whole family, of course, to come to a small party that he organized at the famous Red Rose Restaurant.
At first, even though they didn't want to and got to know the dark history of the second prince from Oliver, the Yandell family accepted the invitation since they didn't want to offend such a big guy just as they had arrived in a new place.
Oliver and Melinda also tagged along for the small party. At the start, Willy thought that Prince Ronald Armen was after his daughter, and that's what everyone else thought so too. The second prince introduced a few of his friends and wealthy business
They had the dinner and the drinks and all the talks about how wealthy, and powerful the second prince is.
Oliver and Willy were talking to some businessman, while Melinda and Elaina were besieged by a group of young masters, while the second prince was constantly bugging only Brenna. Thankfully, there were other ladies who stood around her, or else she would not have dared to stand alone with him.
At one point in time, a lady standing next to them accidentally poured her wine cup onto Brenna's clothes.
And as anyone could guess, when Brenna went to the restroom to wash the sain, someone followed behind her.
Elaina got really suspicious about the prince's intention, and that is why she too followed him and found him sneaking into the restroom after using some kind of a noise-canceling talisman; he also placed some of his thugs at the entrance.
Elaina understood and immediately walked over to enter. The thugs tried to stop her but she bashed their heads against the wall causing a commotion that even reached outside.
Inside the restroom, the second prince who was about to kidnap Brenna using a restraining talisman with paralyzing effect got startled hearing the noise and was also found out by Brenna. Seeing the talisman that was about to be ripped in the boy's hands, Brenna kicked him into the face without hesitation.
The events that followed were not good for the second prince at all.
He was beaten black and blue by Brenna and Elaina and may have been permanently disabled if Oliver and Willy had not come to stop them.
Oliver took the Yandell family back to the Clan before the matter got any more out of their control.
Then, of course, the next day, the second prince came outside the Clan's entrance with an army of soldiers, demanding them to hand over the Yandell family.
But there is a thing called 'face or reputation.' And the Clan has to keep that face, especially in front of the royal family. The Clan patriarch didn't agree to do so. How could he, the matter that had happened inside the Red Rose Restaurant, had already spread far and wide? Letting the second prince take his revenge would really undermine the Clan's reputation and make them appear weak in their rival Clan's eyes. Not to mention, Oliver was a very important part of their Clan's strength, he couldn't afford to give up the people that he had brought over so easily and without being in the wrong.
The Clan patriarch went to the King and somehow formed peace and ended the matter.
Oliver and the rest were relieved that the matter was over. One day, news came over from the capital that Willy Yandell died in a life and death challenge, the one that he had issued against the second prince himself in front of a crowd.
Since it was a life and death challenge, the Clan refused to help Elaina seek any kind of revenge or any help to further look into the matter.
Why would Willy issue such a challenge to the second prince? How come he had gone to the capital when he was supposed to have gone to handle some issue at some private property of the Eberhart Clan in a city far away from the capital. Why would the Clan even give such a task to him? It was not normal.
Elaina wanted to find the truth, but five days later, the Clan ordered Oliver to go to the east border to participate in the invasion. He was told to bring his disciple with him too.
Who knew that Ronald Armen would follow them all the way from the capital to here.
