56 Chapter 56: She Knows What She’s Done

She paid no attention and went straight to her classroom. Her face showed no signs of disturbance.

Everyone had their eyes on her as soon as she stepped into the classroom.

Lily Roberts jumped up from her seat excitedly, and she pointed at Nathalia accusingly, "Nathalia Carter. Shame on you! You should be hiding at home and not be here."

Nathalia sat down, took out her books, and said, without even looking at Lily, "Why? Do you own school? Why shouldn't I be here?" her tone was calm and indifferent.

Lily was taken aback. Furiously, she yelled, "You are shameless. You know what you have done, which is disgusting!"

A few other girls joined in. "Yeah. Disgusting. You should get expelled from school."

"Shameless."

"Gross"

Nathalia responded with a lazy yawn. She remained nonchalant and unconcerned as if it had nothing to do with her. What she was actually thinking about was to take a nap as she was feeling a bit drowsy.

However, her friend, Sophie, couldn't take it anymore and she shouted back at them "Shut up. It's none of your business. All you girls do is gossip and spread rumors. No wonder you failed your exams again."

Whatever happened, Sophie stood at Nathalia's side, unconditionally.

She trusted her as always.

The girls were offended by Sophie's comment, and they snapped, especially Lily, "Birds of a feather flock together. Sophie Watson, you are just as shameless as Nathalia Carter."

Sophie was so furious that she was speechless. What a ridiculous thing to say!

Nathalia found in her bag a lunch box. When did he put it in my bag? I didn't even notice.

She was delightfully surprised and felt loved. She put her hand on Sophie's shoulder and said calmly, "Sophie, let's not waste our time arguing with people who make no sense. We have better things to do." She smiled reassuringly.

The crowd was shut up immediately, surprised by Nathalia's indifference.

The angry look vanished from Sophie's face, and she smiled back at Nathalia. "That's so true. They don't worth our time."

However, Lily refused to give up. "We don't make sense?" Doesn't she feel shamed at all? Not even a tiny bit?

"Calm down, Lily Roberts. What are you angry about? We are just saying what it is."

Lily's face turned red with fury. "Nathalia Carter, everyone knows what you have done. We have all watched it. Spencer Davidson is dumping you for sure!"

The bell rang then, and everyone went back to their seat quietly, though reluctantly.

Mrs. Miller, the English teacher, walked in, and she glanced at Nathalia a few times.

The class went on dually. Nathalia was absent-minded and didn't get much out of it.

"Nathalia, you ok?" Sophie had been hesitating, not sure if she should ask.

What has actually happened? She wondered. Why didn't she talk to me about it? It is serious, but she's acting like it's nothing. It's strange.

Yet, at the same time, she didn't want to hurt Nathalia as she understood she was a sensitive person like herself.

Nathalia smiled sweetly, thinking I'm so lucky to have Sophie as my friend.

When she was about to explain, there was some kind of commotion in the classroom, and Nathalia sat up to see Evette walking in, still wearing high heels and the same dress from last night. She was stunning-looking, even though she wasn't wearing her usual happy smile.

All the boys gazed at Evette, sparkles in their eyes.

Evette went straight to Nathalia and said sternly, "I need to talk to you outside."

She looked terribly upset. Everyone could see it; hence, the boys didn't go close to her as they would normally do.

Nathalia lifted her eyebrow and smiled, "What do you want to talk about? Just say it here." She said cheerfully.

Why is she so calm and even cheerful? Did she get away last night? But it's impossible.

Evette was trying hard to hide the aches and pain in her body, as well as the desire to strangle Nathalia. She managed to put on a worried look.

"Nathalia, mum, and dad were sick worrying about you. They have been trying to reach you. Why didn't you answer the phone? And You didn't come home last night."

She said it loud and clear, intentionally, to make sure that everyone could hear her and prove that the rumors were true.

Nathalia knew exactly what she was doing, and she could sense the anger and fear in her.

Evette came to Nathalia in such a hurry only to show people that what they heard was real and she was innocent.

However, no one could hide the truth.

She knows what she's done. She can pretend it didn't happen, but the truth is the truth, and she can't pretend forever. Nathalia thought.

However, what's Spencer plotting?

She thought it over and over and still couldn't find an answer. She was curious, but she didn't want to call him to ask him.

She held her chin with both hands, and looked up at Evette into her eyes, smiled, "Were you worried about me as well? My dear sister."

How are you feeling now? You are getting what you deserve. I know what's happened to you.

Nathalia didn't expect it would happen to Evette herself. She was grateful that she got away from it. How it ended was a bonus. Now Evette was hoist with her own petard.

Even though Nathalia was sitting, looking up at Evette standing high next to her, she felt she had things in control.

Evette trembled slightly. She was nervous and scared, recalling what had happened last night. It was a nightmare to her, and she still found it very difficult to accept.

I lost my virgin to those two basters...

She wanted to strangle Nathalia to revenge, but she had to compose herself as everyone was watching.

She continued pretending to be caring and feel sorry for Nathalia, "Nathalia, this time I have to say that you have made a mistake. You shouldn't have done that."

Evette played her role as the innocent and loving younger sister as a contrast to Nathalia perceived as flippant and lacking self-respect.

I can't let her win. Evette thought. She has to pay for what I went through last night!

Seeing her pretentious face and listening to her fake caring tone, Nathalia couldn't help laughing out loud. "My dear sister, how are you feeling now after last night?"

It stabbed right into Evette's heart. Her face changed instantly, her eyes wide open, flaming with anger, and she lifted her hand out, about to strike "It WAS you!"

The crowd was astonished to see the frighteningly furious face. She was so gentle and loving just a second ago, and now she was a completely different person.

Nathalia saw it coming, and she dodged. Evette lost balance and stumbled forward hands and knees on the floor. How embarrassing!

People gasped. What's happened?

Tut, tut, tut. A spoiled rich girl.

It's true that the Carter sisters don't get along well.
