68 Chapter 68: Has She Gone Mad?

They demanded excitedly.

Frank and Anne both turned pale-faced, sweats dripping down their foreheads, entirely at a loss.

Evette was so angry that she was stomping her feet. All of a sudden, she came up with an idea, and she pointed at Matt.

"Officer, Mr. Spencer Davidson is insulting me. You should arrest him."

She couldn't help thinking herself higher than others, and she talked like she was the queen demanding her servants.

The serious and stern look still remained on Matt's face. He glanced at her indifferently. "You'd better prove yourself innocent first. If we find out that you are the one behind the whole incident, you will be sentenced three years of imprisonment, at least."

Evette shivered, frightened by the thought of imprisonment, but she held up her head proudly.

"Don't you try to scare me. I'm Evette Carter. I'm not afraid of an officer. Or, you are scared of Spencer Davidson yourself?" She thought naively that she could still have what she wanted because of her family.

Matt wasn't slightly affected at all. He said calmly, "I am an officer. I don't threaten or scare people, but I do my work, fulfill my duty. Anyone who breaks the law shall be punished according to the law. Anyone." He looked into Evette's eyes as he said every word clearly.

It sounded like an unbreakable curse to Evette. Her face went pale.

Anne's heart ached for her precious daughter. She glared at Matt. "Officer, are you threatening my daughter here? I need to speak to your supervisor."

Frank took out his phone and commanded, "Who's your supervisor? I'm going to call him."

Matt didn't even bother taking a look at him. He said nonchalantly, "Go ahead. But, Evette Carter, are you going to show us you are innocent here, or would you like to go to the office with me?"

He couldn't care less about the Carter couple. He despised them.

Anne was taken aback, so was Frank. They had not met an officer that showed no respect for them. Matt was the first. He's losing his job!

"Evette Carter, you are accused of drugging two boys to have sex with them!" Someone suddenly shouted! It changed the scene. Everyone then remembered the excitement.

"Hahaha. How horny are you!"

"Be careful, people. Don't get too close to Evette Carter. She's a hungry one. Hahaha."

"I don't mind. Evette Carter, come find me next time. I'll make sure you have a good time!" More and more people mocked and teased.

Evette glared at the crowd and screamed, "Shut up! All of you shut up!" The more she screamed, the more excited the crowd grew, and the more they mocked her.

With no self-respect. Bad-tempered. Cruel to her sister. Lier. I don't want to be close to her anymore. Who wants to be her boyfriend anymore?

People were shocked, and they stared, wondering, Has she gone mad?

Anne was heartbroken to see her daughter in such a distressed state. She was indeed a loving mother.

"My poor girl. What have they done to you? My poor girl. You haven't done anything wrong, and they make you suffer so much..."

"Everyone's equal. The law treats everyone equally. It doesn't matter if you are the Carters or the poor. The law is the law." Matt said indignantly. It gained him a lot of respect from the crowd, except the Carters of course.

Frank threatened with rage "Officer, I know your supervisor. I shall make a phone call. Please wait a second." How dare you go against me! You are not only losing your job, but you are also losing your life!

He would not accept the insult of having his daughter taken away in public. That would be a great shame for him.

Matt understood what Frank meant, but he wouldn't back up; instead, he said, "Sure. But I'd like to remind you that obstruction of justice is a crime."

Nathalia couldn't help taking another look at Matt, impressed by his sense of justice. It's good to know that there are still people there that understand and fight for justice. There's still hope.

Just then, a palm stretched out from aside and blocked her sight. "Who are you looking at? Is he better looking than me?" Spencer said sourly, looking irritated. He looked very different from the usual cold and proud Spencer Davidson that people perceived.

Nathalia felt a sudden joy of sweetness. She covered her mouth with one hand and giggled as she held his hand with the other hand.

You are in my heart. Sweetie. I love you. You are my love.

Spencer was at first jealous. How can she stare at another guy like that? She can only look at me. However, as soon as he saw her smiley face, the feeling of jealousy melted away, and he smiled. How beautiful she looks now! That sweet smile. No more tears for her, please.

They gazed at each other, both hearts filled with love. Matt caught sight of them. He felt his heart sink a bit, and a sad smile appeared on his face.

The crowd condemned the Carters.

"You think you have money so you can do anything?"

"Shame on the Carters! Except for Nathalia Carter."

"Poor girl. What is she going to do now? Who knows what the Carter couple will do to her!"

"Are they going to kill her?" Someone gasped at the thought.

Frank, Anne, and Evette's faces turned pale with terror, then red with anger. Anne then recalled what Nathalia said earlier and realized what she was plotting. She was outraged. You little devil! You've become too smart. You've tricked us!

The crowd confirmed her realization. "We are the witnesses. If anything happens to Nathalia Carter, we know it's the Carters that do it! I will report to the police straight away!"

Anne shivered with terror. Nathalia Carter. I've underestimated you. You've planned this very well. Very well. All these years, you pretended to be obedient, and I didn't even realize anything. It's too perfect. It's frightening. Her body trembled again as she thought.

Evette was infuriated. She couldn't hold her anger anymore, and she bellowed, "You will all go to hell. All of you! How dare you go against us! We are the Carters..."

Her furious screaming was stopped by a sudden loud slap on her face. She dropped her jaw, eyes wide open, and stared at her father.
