116 Chapter 116: Are We A Family?

The chief guard stepped forward and gestured, "Mr. Frank Carter, please take off your shirt."

Frank's face turned red, embarrassed, and enraged. He yelled, "Nonsense, don't you dare. I have the right to say no." He refused to take off his clothes, thinking he was the rich and powerful president Mr. Carter, and people should obey him. However, he had not thought about the occasion, having forgotten that all the cameras had their 'eyes' on him.

The judges grew more and more annoyed. Frank was defying the law and the judges.

Nathalia smiled and said casually, "It seems we will have to get the police involved and do a thorough inspection. I don't like to think that I've been set up or lied to."

Fury was flaming inside Frank. You're a piece of shit. It was all because of you! He cursed silently. However, he had then realized he needed to compose, and he softened his tone, "Nathalia, its just misunderstanding. There's no need to make a big deal of it. We are a family. We can talk about it and sort it out at home."

Are we a family? Did he actually say that? How disgustingly pretentious! The crowd thought.

"I guess we don't have to have the police involved, but you need to be honest and answer three questions." Nathalia lifted her eyebrows, and a mysterious smile appeared on her face.

"Nathalia, you can't..." Fear flashed in Frank's eyes, but he didn't have another choice, "Ok. Go ahead."

In a loud and clear voice, Nathalia asked, "Did you really get attacked?"

"Well..." Frank frowned, regretted, but he had to keep on lying, "Of course, it was true. I got attacked."

It was an answer Nathalia expected, so she wasn't surprised to hear so. She went on with the second question, "Is it true that you had been in a coma until just about half an hour ago?"

And Frank went on lying, "Yes. It's true. It was the phone call from Zack that woke me up."

He was so good at lying that his face had not changed, his tone natural and calm. Even if the proofs were all against him, he would still be able to lie righteously.

He's indeed an experienced and calculating, business-minded man. Sean thought and sighed. People like him don't understand shame or dignity—the most annoying kind.

Nathalia asked her last question straight away, "Are you going to return the 10% of shares?"

Frank nodded immediately and said, "Of course, I am, but just give dad some more time. You know what the shareholders are like. I need the shares to..."

Sounds polite and sincere. Hmm. Nathalia sneered and said, "I've heard this many times. It seems to me you will never return the shares. We will have to leave it to the judges to decide." She then turned around to face the judges, bowed, and said politely, "Respectable judges, as you've seen, the fact is clear."

Nathalia didn't even take a look at him. She smiled and replied, with her back facing him, "It's unnecessary. I believe in the justice of the law. The judges will decide." Then she turned to Sean, "Sean, please have the paper ready for the press meeting later. By the way, please invite all the shareholders."

"No problem," Sean answered.

The determination and self-assurance in Nathalia were truly impressive. The Carters' faces went pale. Frank questioned in a shivering tone, "What, what are you doing?"

Nathalia paid no attention to him, but said to the judges respectfully, "I would like to request to have the recording of this case."

And paler their faces grew. Frank had just remembered there were cameras recording the whole case. "No." He snapped. He didn't behave the best he could, and he would not like that to be shown to the public. To begin with, the fact he showed up in the court was a mistake. However, he couldn't stay calm when it was related to the safety of his son.

The judges didn't acknowledge his objection, but answered Nathalia without hesitation, "Sure."

Being ignored, Frank grew mad and yelled at Nathalia, "Nathalia, what are you doing?! How dare you?"

"Dare me then." Nathalia tilted her chin up and glanced at him coldly, "You pretended that you were attacked, then you pretended you were in a coma. You put cameras up in the hospital. You spread rumors about me on the internet. My dear father, do you really want me dead so much so that no one will ask you for the shares back?"

He had never treated her as his own daughter. After all, these ugly and cruel things that he had done to her, he still thought that she would just let him take advantage of her.

Nathalia had said the truth and the truth only, which was the most powerful. The truth. The Carters panicked. Ann had a quick think and then forced a smile on her face and said softly, "No. No. No. You misunderstood your father."

Nathalia took a cold glance at her and turned to Frank, "The company had a problem, but you hid in the hospital and had your wife to speak for you. Isn't it obvious that you are too much of a coward to deal with it? Someone like you is not qualified to be the president of the company. I'd suggest you resign."

Now it was not just a 'family' issue. It concerned the profits of the company and all the shareholders.

The shareholders would be the last people to displease, especially when money was involved. Despite how angry she was, Ann was speechless, while Frank glared at Nathalia and shouted, "You are defaming me. I'm suing you." Who does she think she is?! Accusing me! Calling me a coward?!

Nathalia shrugged her shoulders and said, "Go ahead." Then she turned to Sean, "By the way, Sean, please give all the proofs and material we gathered to the authorities, and they will do a proper inspection." Let's see who's suing whom.

Frank couldn't hold the anger back anymore. One could see the fury all over his face as he swung his arms, running towards Nathalia, "You piece of shit. I'm going to kill you..."

Seeing that his father was taking action, Zack grew excited and joined in to help. The court turned into a chaotic circus.
