136 Chapter 136: Why Is He Helping Her?

Still panicking, Maria shouted without thinking, "Who do you think you are? It's only because you have someone on your back..."

Nathalia despised her thoroughly. "What about you? You have been doing a very good job of securing the consistent support from Mr. Frank Carter and maintaining your reputation at the same time, well, just until now. Do you know how I think of you? Disgusting."

Having multiple partners at the same time before her marriage wasn't something to be proud of, but having affairs when she was someone's wife and a mother, then it was completely unacceptable.

It was greed. She wanted everything, and now she might end up having nothing.

"Nathalia Carter, you..." Maria was furious. No one had ever insulted her like this in public. "Get the fuck out of here!" She must be thinking that she was somebody.

"Who are you to talk to me like that?" Nathalia said calmly.

She didn't really care much about Maria, but mainly focused on Frank Carter. You don't want me here? Do you want to control me again? Let's see what you get from keeping me away then.

"Apologize, or I will sue you." Nathalia continued. "Or your husband shall enjoy the good show you and Mr. Frank Carter put on."

The crowd exclaimed silently, impressed by Nathalia again. They had definitely understood now that she wasn't someone to mess with.

"Nathalia..." Maria couldn't take it anymore. At a loss, she burst into tears and turned to Frank for help, "Mr. Carter, your daughter is behaving like a mafia. Doesn't she know how to respect others?" She was thinking now that everyone knew anyway, why not ask for help from her lover. However, Frank had no idea how to deal with Nathalia either. Instead of helping Maria, he yelled, "Shut up. Apologize."

"Mr. Carter!" Maria was shocked, her eyes wide open. They two of them are enemies. Why is he helping her?

However, as soon as she saw the look on his face, she understood straight away. "I, I am sorry, Miss Nathalia Carter. Apologies. Can you please delete the video?" She swallowed her pride and anger, changed her tone, and apologized.

"If you make the same mistake again, I won't forgive you so easily. In this world, it's nature's rule that the strong survive while the weak extinguish. We, the shareholders here, play a bigger role in decisions if they have more shares, right? Father?" Nathalia reasoned.

Nathalia smiled a victorious smile and said, "Just a little reminder. Business is business. Don't bring personal issues to the board."

The shareholders exchanged looks and nodded in agreement. Another wave of anger was brewing in Frank again, but there was nothing he could say to defend himself anymore. He said in a defeated and annoyed tone, "Let's start the meeting."

Nathalia glanced around and asked casually, "Where am I sitting?"

There wasn't a seat arranged for Nathalia at all. Frank frowned. He intended to make Nathalia embarrassed, but he had learned that nothing could really embarrass Nathalia. Helplessly, he waved his arm and demanded, "Can someone get a chair here? There's something we need to go over today. Let's focus on the important things first."

Nathalia took the chair to the back, away from Frank. "I'm rather easy-going. This time, I don't mind, but if you forget to inform me again, whatever decisions you make during the meeting, I will not approve, or you will take full responsibility."

Impressive. She's confident, and she's in control. The shareholders exchanged looks, and all understood the message Nathalia was sending. She had stated her position on the board, and she demanded respect.

It annoyed Frank even more. "You are still a student. You should focus on your study. Business is not for you, not now. Why don't you just let us run the company? And you will still get your profits and shares every year." He was still trying to persuade her.

Nathalia sat down, put her bag on her lap, and calmly, she said, "I would love to just focus on my study, but the thing is I can't trust the person that's running the company now." She didn't say the name of the person, but she had clearly stated the incapability of Frank.

"What do you mean by that? You are questioning me?!" Frank snapped, trembling with anger.

Others might comprise and say something nice to end the awkwardness, but not Nathalia. There was nothing to hide, and there was no point hiding.

"Yes, I am. What you have done was unbelievable. Your selfishness is extreme and incredible. All the cunning and evil things you have done is all for your own benefit." Nathalia said calmly and clearly.

The shareholders turn doubtful and worried, wondering, Frank Carter has kept his position for many years, and he has pretty much everything in his control. It's not unusual that he's done what he's accused of doing.

However, they would not dare to confront openly normally. Nathalia was an exception.

Seeing the shareholders' faces, Frank grew even more enraged, and he was picturing himself, stitching Nathalia's lips up. "This is defamation."

"You can sue me if you want. I believe there's still honesty and justice in law. By the way, can we get down to the important things first so as not to waste everyone's time? I have a tight schedule, as well."

Frank took a few deep breaths to calm himself down finally. "As we all know, the real estate industry has pretty much reached its limit. Before it happens, we need a plan. I'm thinking of investing one billion in the electricity industry in Europe. This is a great opportunity, and I believe it's of huge profit. Here are the details we've gathered. Have a look and see if you have any opinions."

One billion? The shareholders took a look at the file, looked at each other, some confused, some doubtful, some thoughtful. It's a lot of money. It's worth half of the whole company's assets.

"We don't know much about this industry. I'm afraid it's not a very good idea." Someone voiced their doubt.

Bang. Frank slapped the table and threatened, "It's because it's an innovation. We dare. We risk it. That's how we can lead and gain. I'm sure we can make at least a few billions out of it."
