143 Chapter 143: A Productive Day

Mrs. Davidson glanced around a big smile on her face. It was obvious that she loved the room, but as soon as she thought of Nathalia living next door, she sulked and said, "I don't like it..."

"Oh. Really? I've spent a few weeks preparing everything, just hoping to give you a surprise." Spencer said. It wasn't something that he would say normally, but since he met Nathalia, he had changed and learned a few tricks from Nathalia.

Mrs. Davidson heard the disappointment in Spencer's tone, and immediately she shook her head and said, "No. No. No. I mean, I like the place, really. I love it. But it's too small. What about our doctors and nurses and maids? Where will they stay?"

"Don't you worry, mum. You have me here. I will look after you." Spencer assured her.

Surprisingly, Mrs. Davidson had a great sleep for the first time since years ago. When she woke up, Spencer had already prepared breakfast for both of them. They talked and had breakfast together in the morning sunlight shining through the open windows. She felt content.

She could hardly remember moments like this from the past. Though she used to have the company of Anna, being with her own son was different.

Before Spencer left for work, he had arranged the schedule for his mother. She had a drawing class in the morning, an appointment at the beauty salon in the afternoon, with the company of a maid and a doctor. With a full schedule, she had no time to think or worry about anything else.

She spent a delightful day in town and was now waiting for her son to come home for dinner excitedly. However, her face dropped as soon as she saw Nathalia. "What is she doing here?"

Like an innocent child, she showed all her emotions completely. She was incapable of hiding, which made her different from other adults. It was not such a bad thing as one didn't need to guess her thoughts.

Nathalia sat by the table, looking at Spencer and Mrs. Davidson quietly. She was in a good mood today as she had spoken to the French company earlier and handled a lot of stuff—a productive day.

"I invited her over. She lives alone and has no one to cook for her. And the more, the merrier, right?" Spencer said cheerfully.

He knew how stubborn his mother was and the way to persuade her was to be patient and sweet talk her.

Mrs. Davidson frowned, "I don't enjoy having dinner with her." The way she behaved and spoke wasn't like a normal adult at all. She was more like a spoiled and innocent little girl.

Nathalia extended her hand out, indicating that Mrs. Nathalia should leave and said, "You are welcome to leave if you don't like it."

"Huh? What?" Mrs. Davidson was taken aback at first, then she reacted, "This is my son's house, why should I leave? You should leave instead!"

The housemaid brought a few plates of lovely food. There was roasted beef, mashed potatoes, Greek salad, and more. All were Nathalia's favorites. The lovely smell greeted her nose.

"Bon appetit!" She said excitedly and picked up the fork and knife.

"Bon appetit!" Spencer replied with a bright smile.

Nathalia quickly filled her plate and started feeding her tummy. "Yum. Yum." A bright smile on her face. Seeing how much Nathalia was enjoying her food. Mrs. Davidson joined in as if she was in competition with Nathalia to show who enjoyed the food more.

"I love food, too." She said as she shuffled a spoonful of mashed potatoes with roasted beef in her mouth.

Spencer watched the two women he loved the most and felt content.

There was a peculiar dish on the table that Mrs. Davidson had not seen before. Nathalia forked a small piece, put it in her mouth, and delight appeared on her face. Mrs. Davidson watched curiously. "What is it?"

Somehow the question and the way she asked it made Nathalia giggle. She's like a kid. I suppose it's a positive thing. Childlike people don't often feel hurt.

"It's pickled veggies," Nathalia answered. "It's a dish from Asia. It's more for common people like me. I don't think you will like it."

Mrs. Davidson had her eyes wide open, simply happy to learn something new and excited to take the implied challenge. "You want to eat it all for yourself. No way. Spencer, can you pass me some, please?"

Spencer managed not to laugh out and passed the plate to his mother. "Here, give it a try." Mrs. Davidson scooped a big portion of it, picked a big piece, put it in her mouth, and an uncertain look appeared on her face.

Nathalia giggled, watching her face, then Spencer followed. Mrs. Davidson looked at Spencer, then Nathalia, and started laughing herself.

Soon they started a little battle fighting for pickles, and laughter echoed in the room. "Why are you stealing my food?" Nathalia teased. It's so much easier to get along with her than most adults. Nothing complicated. Nathalia thought.

"Why are you stealing my food?" Mrs. Davidson echoed. "This is our house. I eat whatever I want. You are welcomed to leave if you don't like it."

Somehow it feels like arguing with a little kid. Nathalia thought amusedly.

Later the maid brought a blueberry cake. Nathalia exclaimed at the sight of it, looked up at Spencer to see his bright smile, like the morning sun shining at her. It was Nathalia's favorite cake.

"Yes, it's real. Enjoy." Spencer said with a cheeky wink. He felt so much love with the two women he cared about the most.

Feeling a bit jealous, Mrs. Davidson cut in, "I would love to have some blueberry cake, too." Spencer and Nathalia exchanged a cheerful look and said, "You should." Spencer cut the cake, and Nathalia passed a plate to Mrs. Davidson.

After the fun and delightful dinner, Nathalia and Spencer stayed in the living room while Mrs. Davidson went back to her bedroom with a cup of tea. Stroking her little belly pot, Nathalia walked around the room, trying to help digest the food, while murmuring to herself, "I ate too much. Look at this big tummy pot."

Spencer giggled. Nathalia glared at him, "What are you laughing about? It's not funny. I'm so full.", pouting her lips

Spencer pitched her cheeks gently and said, "You are so lovely. I adore you, baby."

Stunned and embarrassed, Nathalia slapped Spencer on his shoulder, and Spencer just took the chance and grabbed her into his arms. He kissed her hand and said, "I'm so happy, Nathalia. It felt so good to eat together as a family. You know mum doesn't normally eat much, but tonight! You saw how she wolfed the food down." He said with excitement.

Nathalia saw the sparks in his eyes, and somehow she felt emotional. Tears wetted her eyes.
