212 Chapter 212: Perfect With Each Other

Nathalia returned with a confident smile and said casually, "Wonderful. You two are perfect for each other, both M.A.L.I.C.I.O.U.S and mean. You are meant to be together."

It seems like these two are following me, just like in previous life. But I don't want to die. I want to live.

With an approving smile on his face, Spencer felt proud of Nathalia for her wittiness. Wendy couldn't help laughing out loud. Nathalia is brilliant. I love her wicked directness. If I were not a celebrity, I would have said the same thing in public. Ha.

Though enraged and frustrated, Ben managed to stay quiet. Is this how she sees me?

As usual, Evette barked furiously, "I beg your pardon!" her voice trembling with anger.

"Poor thing, she still can't hear properly. I've asked you to get your hearing checked last time. I guess you haven't." Nathalia said in a sympathetic tone sarcastically.

Be alert and watchful. They didn't come for no reason. They are the ones that killed me in my previous life. I can't have it repeated. I want to live. Nathalia kept reminding herself.

The journalists had been waiting impatiently. One of them finally questioned, "Mr. Ben Johnson, what do you think of the past of Miss Evette Carter?"

Evette's face turned bitter instantly. What have I done to you, bitch?! Why are you pointing your arrows at me? It's Ben Johnson's honor to be with me! I've compromised myself.

Ben had come prepared. He had expected that there would be questions now that he was to show up with Evette. "That was in the past, and who hasn't made mistakes? I trust Evette." He replied calmly, though deep down, he was complaining about the incompetence of Evette. I just hope she's not going to make a mess again.

His good look and gentle manner had won the favor of most of the female journalists, so they dropped the topic. However, some male journalists were not buying it. One commented sarcastically, "Mr. Ben Johnson is very accepting. Very impressive." While thinking, Huh. Who would believe you? You must be either a brainless dumbass, or you are coveting something.

Ben frowned for a second but quickly calmed down. He put on his usual smile and said, "Thank you. I tend not to judge people for their past." He glanced at Nathalia deliberately as he added, "Also, everyone has the right to choose their partner. Anyone's possible, especially before we get married."

Nathalia caught his look and lifted her eyebrows thoughtfully.

A journalist suddenly changed the topic and questioned, "Evette Carter, where are your parents? How have they been? Those two legends."

The laughing ceased and turned into sudden silence. Everyone was too shocked to speak.

After the words sunk in, someone spoke up, "Frank Carter is dead? Hasn't he just gone missing?"

"Nathalia killed Frank Carter? Are you sure?"

"Of course, I am sure." Evette's eyes were burning red. "She killed our father. She ruined the family first, and we had to leave the country; then she set our father up, made him an outcast; the worst is that she got someone to kill him!" she was almost shouting excitedly.

"I have never thought that she could be so evil! How could someone even kill their own father?! It took me a lot of courage to come back here to tell the world the truth. If one day anything happens to me, please know that it will be Nathalia Carter who's done it!"

Talks and discussions exploded immediately amongst the crowd. Some of them found Evette's words rather familiar and wondered whom and where they had heard it from before.

Spencer knew straightaway. Ha, nice move. But just a copycat, and not a very good one. Compared to Nathalia, she's far behind. Was she trying to play Nathalia's game? She's not there yet.

Everyone's eyes fell on Nathalia, expecting. To their surprise, Nathalia looked just as calm as she always did. Her lips tilting up in a gentle smile, she acted like the whole mess had nothing to do with her. She was as pure and innocent as the beautiful white dress she was wearing.

One journalist finally voiced their curiosity, "Miss Nathalia Carter, is it true? Did you do it?"

It was too sudden and absurd for anyone to understand.

Nathalia took a look at the journalist, the smile still on her face, then turned to Evette, "I don't even have a clue where my father is, while you who've been out of the country all this time somehow know better than me. Or have you two plotted this? What game are you playing this time?" She said it with unquestionable confidence, even aggressiveness.

It took Evette by surprise. How can she still be so calm and even confrontational? "There she is! You deny it again. Do you think people are stupid? You think they will believe a hypocrite like you?"

It was obvious that Evette was using Nathalia's old trick to take advantage of the presence of the media and slandering her in public. The accusation of murdering our father will be the death of you! She thought viciously.

"I believe Nathalia."

"I believe Nathalia."

A voice echoed another. Both Spencer and Wendy said instantly. Spencer, of course, would always stand by Nathalia, while Wendy didn't know why, but knew that someone as pure and honest as Nathalia was definitely not a murderer.

The crowd looked at Wendy in surprise. Interesting.

Nathalia remained calm, watched, and waited patiently.

"Spencer, she's bewitched you! How can you protect a murderer?!" Evette glared at the smiley face of Nathalia, then shouted at Spencer, and to the crowd, "Everyone, do you still believe them?"

The journalists exchanged looks, each seemed to ponder over the truth of the accusation. "Miss Nathalia Carter doesn't look like a murderer to me." Someone answered.

"Not to me, either. Also, she doesn't have a motive to do so." Compared to her half-sister, Evette Carter, Nathalia Carter has everything she needs. She's beautiful, smart, rich, successful, and she's got an excellent boyfriend. She's pretty much got the whole world. Why would she commit a crime to ruin herself?

"I agree."

"I agree, too." More and more voices supported Nathalia and despised the accuser.

Evette had done a lot of preparation before coming to start this battle, yet to her disappointment, this was not what she had foreseen.

Terribly frustrated, she exclaimed furiously, "What do you mean by she doesn't have a motive? Her motive is revenge. She believes that our dad and my mum killed her mum, so she hates all of us. Don't be fooled by her pretentious innocence, people." The murderous look on her face was rather frightening.

Nathalia's calmness was untouched. She listened and watched quietly. It seemed like most people were on Nathalia's side and found Evette too absurd to believe.

Yet, some were still doubtful or had the intention of stirring things up. "Miss Nathalia Carter, what do you say to that? It sounds possible..."
