246 Chapter 246: More Bad News

Jeff shook his head in disapproval. "Katie, seriously, Spencer loves his wife, and she's a tough one, I tell you." She got me just then. She's nothing like the usual rich girl from a rich family. There's something about her that makes you want to respect her. That's probably why I misunderstood her.

When Spencer and Nathalia got back to their hotel room, Nathalia pinched his cheeks playfully and demanded, "Now, tell me the truth." There was a hint of jealousy in her tone.

Spencer couldn't help giggling but managed to stop himself quickly, and slowly and clearly, he told Nathalia about Katie, which was nothing worth worrying about. Spencer and Jeff were classmates in university, and Katie was Jeff's sister, who fell in love with Spencer, at first sight, pleading to be his girlfriend from the first day.

Spencer rejected her every time. He was not interested at all. Later on, when he started work, they had rarely met again.

Nathalia did trust Spencer, but she was just curious, and a bit jealous like any other girl would be. "Alright, I believe you."

Spencer's face lit up as if he had seen the light of hope, and tentatively, he asked, "So tonight, we can..."

"It still feels sore there." Nathalia blushed. He is like a hungry wolf.

Just then, Spencer's phone rang. It was his mother. "Spencer, where are you two? I haven't seen you for two days. Have you watched the news?" She sounded upset and worried. She had not expected Curt to be so cruel and disrespectful.

She had now become a joke. She could not even do anything about it. The mistress' son had now taken over one of the main companies.

Spencer's spirit turned down instantly, "No. I haven't. I'm not interested." He said sulkily. What's done is done. What's the point in thinking or talking about it? He has always been selfish and never cares about us. Now he's got us into this trouble.

"Your father is determined this time. No one can talk him out of it. He's given that boy the Davidson E-Net Group!" Mrs. Davidson exclaimed emotionally. It wasn't uncommon that men cheated on their wives and had children with other women, but making it public without considering how his wife and children would feel was crossing the line.

He shows no respect for us at all. What the hell is he doing? She thought desperately.

It hurt Spencer to hear the worry and disappointment in his mother's voice. "Mum, forget the news, forget the whole thing. Why don't you come to join us in Switzerland?"

"Switzerland? What are you going there for?" Mrs. Davidson thought about it and discarded the idea, "It's alright. I will go back to Italy and see what I can do."

The headquarters of the Davidsons used to be in Italy, and they had a lot of connections there.

Curt was the real owner and the master of the family. Everyone listened to him. Mum is only the wife of the owner, and she has rarely communicated with any of the people there in the business. Who would listen to her?

Of course, Mrs. Davidson understood Spencer's concern. She was just feeling too shocked and desperate, thinking she should at least do something. Seeing how close Matt and Curt were on TV, she felt so unjust for her son, Spencer.

"I have to at least do something, give it a try. I can't just leave it and do nothing about it." Mrs. Davidson insisted.

Spencer sighed helplessly, then he thought of something and said, "Mum, there's something I want to tell you." He said solemnly, which made Mrs. Davidson nervous.

The more bad news? She thought. "What is it?" She asked worriedly.

Nathalia sat up straight, biting her lips, waiting nervously.

Spencer noticed and patted her shoulder gently. He said in a cheerful voice, "Nathalia and I got married..."

"What?! Why didn't you even tell me? You just ran away and got married. Spencer..." Mrs. Davidson was so shocked that she exclaimed in a high pitch. They didn't even tell me? I'm their mother! She felt even worse hearing the news, thinking that her husband didn't care about her and now so did her son. What am I to them?

Spencer had put his phone on speaker, and Nathalia heard Mrs. Davidson's reaction. She felt terrible and quickly apologized, "Sorry, mum. We should have told you in advance and asked for your opinion. Please don't get mad..." Mum has just got better recently, and now she's getting emotional again. It's not good for her. Nathalia thought anxiously, hoping to calm her down.

However, Mrs. Davison was too shocked and angry to listen. "Why did you two do that to me?" It was my husband first. Now it was my son.

Nathalia was about to say more, but Spencer placed a finger on her lips. Gently he spoke on the phone, "Mum, it was because of me. I was really upset, and I wanted to bring something good into our life. I made a decision. I didn't even tell Nathalia in advance. I asked her to just say yes or no after I took her to the chapel. I made her make the decision within seconds..."

Nathalia realized that Spencer was trying to make it clear to his mother that if it was anyone's fault, it was definitely not Nathalia's. She was touched.

As expected, Mrs. Davidson was shocked, and now she was angry with Spencer for Nathalia. "You, naughty boy! You are unfair to Nathalia. She's a good girl..."

She understood that Spencer was also upset because of what Curt did, and only Nathalia could make him feel better.

"Anyway, you are a married man now. Don't be like your dad. You have to be good to your wife. You hear me?" Mrs. Davidson said calmly. It's good news. At least now he is with someone who loves him and understands him, who shares his joy and pain.

Spencer had guessed his mother's reaction. He replied solemnly, "I will, mum. I will love Nathalia and take care of her. I will never ever mistreat her, and when we have children, I will love them as you love me."

Nathalia listened quietly, and tears filled her eyes.

"Good. Remember what you said. Now pass the phone to Nathalia."

Mrs. Davidson accepted it quickly. One was her only son and the other a girl she loved and cared much about. How could she not accept them? She had wanted them to get married anyway. It was just the fact that they didn't inform her that upset her.

Nathalia took the phone and said gently, "Mummy." Her voice softened Mrs. Davidson's heart.

"We are a family now, Nathalia. If Spencer ever treats you unfairly, you just let me know, ok? And I will give him a good telling-off." Mrs. Davidson said lovingly.

Nathalia smiled happily. Her face said, love and gratefulness. "Yes, mummy. But I know Spencer won't do that." She was now defending Spencer, which brought a content smile to his face. He hugged her and pecked a kiss on her forehead.

It made Mrs. Davidson pleased too. Then all of a sudden, she asked Nathalia, "So, when are you thinking of having children. I know you are still very young, but there are a lot of good things about being a young mother. Also, there are just you, me, and Spencer now. Imagine if we have a bigger family." Her tone was cheerful. She grinned while imagining having grandchildren in the family.
