340 Chapter 340: What A Waste Of Time

Spencer hung up and blacklisted the number. What a waste of time!

Emma called a few more times again but couldn't get through anymore. Enraged, she smashed the phone on the table.

The door was suddenly flung open, and Emma picked up the cup on the table and threw it at the door. The secretary was too shocked to dodge, and it hit him at his shoulder. "Ouch! What should we do? We need the money. Everyone is panicking."

For years, Emma never lacked money or investments. Her staff was proud to work for her and never worried about a thing as long as they got their job done. But all of a sudden, there was no money coming in anymore, and the terrifying news was that the Davidsons had announced that there would never be any connection or business deals with them, which meant that they had lost their suppliers and sales channels.

Emma cursed. He's killing me! He's destroying everything! She had now realized that the fame and title she had meant nothing without the support of the Davidsons. Does she really mean so much to him?! She's fucking dead! Dead for almost two decades! I hate him. I hate her. Anger was flaring up inside her, but she appeared indifferent.

"I know what to do. Don't you worry?" She said calmly. The secretary was dubious but dared not voiced himself.

Just then, the marketing manager rushed in, looking terribly worried. "Bad news! Bad news!" He exclaimed.

Emma frowned, "What is it now?"

The manager was carrying a laptop, and hurriedly, he put it down on Emma's desk and turned the screen towards her.

Emma watched with eyes wide open.

It was Sarah Holland, one of the most famous movie stars in the world, criticizing Emma's product, saying it was of terrible quality, old-fashioned and unprofessional. When asked why the sudden criticism, Sarah turned around to show her back covered with a rash. She claimed that it was the awful material that had caused a terrible allergy.

The news went all over the internet. More and more people started complaining about similar problems and wanted to sue the company.

In despair, Emma ordered her assistant to call Curt, but they could never reach him. Things got worse and worse as more complaints were reported. Most staff resigned; no companies wanted to work with Emma; some rival companies took the opportunity and stole some of her best staff while accusing her as a copycat.

Within just a few days, Emma's company was destroyed, and so was herself. She was once Ms. Fashion and had now become a loser in debt, an outcast in shame. Wrinkles crawled up her forehead, and she looked like she had aged terribly. And that was the worst punishment for her.

Nathalia had learned what happened and was rather impressed by Curt. No wonder. He's Curt Davidson, after all. However, she wasn't interested in it. It was all taken care of anyway.

When Mrs. Davidson called, Nathalia was so excited that she almost jumped up from her seat. She hurried to the hospital immediately.

"Mum, how are you?" She went in with a bright smile. Finally, mum rang me and asked me to see her!

Mrs. Davidson was neatly dressed, sitting by the window, looking calm, and a bit stern. She beckoned Nathalia to sit down. "Take a seat. Let's talk." She said plainly.

The excitement in Nathalia's heart vanished instantly. She had a feeling that it would be an unpleasant conversation. However, she tried to stay positive. With a smile, she nodded, sat down, and said gently, "Sure, what would you like to talk about?"

There was pain and determination in Sue's eyes. "Leave Spencer." She said.

It wasn't a question. It was a plain order.

Though Nathalia had expected it was coming, she felt hurt still, and it was shown on her face. "Never." She said quietly. Her mother-in-law's words echoed in her heart and weighed like a massive rock.

Before they got to know each other and when Mrs. Davidson used to say terrible things to her, she didn't care a bit. It didn't mean anything to her. But now it hurt badly because she loved her because she cared about her.

She understood that one only felt hurt when one loved someone. And despite the pain, she still believed in love; she still believed that it was a beautiful world, that there was always hope.

Seeing the pain on Nathalia's face, Mrs. Davidson didn't feel any better either. She looked away so as not to face her and questioned, "Didn't you say you consider me as your own mother? That you would do anything for me? Huh? I'm only asking you to leave my son. It's not much I'm asking, and you can't even do that?"

Mrs. Davidson didn't know how to face Nathalia. She once loved her so much. She did see her as her own child, but now knowing that she was the daughter of the woman Curt loved, she felt like she had been humiliated, fooled, and betrayed.

Her mother had my husband, and now she has my son! How can I bear it?! Why is this happening to me? Though part of her told herself that Nathalia was innocent, that she was not to blame, the other part of her kept reminding her that it was Nathalia's mother that took her husband's heart.

It was like her mind had been split into two parts, and they fought each other day and night and left her restless. It was driving her mad.

Is it not much? Nathalia sighed. For her, that was the most important. It's my marriage, my love. Spencer and I have been through thick and thin to be together. How can I leave him?

"I will do anything else but leave Spencer."
