399 Chapter 399: What Is It About?

"It's not about that. I trust you anyway." Curt said plainly. He thought Nate had been trying to get close to Nathalia for a certain purpose, and he had requested to investigate, but nothing was found.

Now Nathalia was curious. "What is it about?"

Curt stroked his forehead and said in a tired voice, "I'm thinking of taking your mum for a holiday. Would you like to join us? It will be good for you as well, I think, and the baby. We can come back when the baby is born."

The journalists had been very annoyingly persistent indeed. It had been a while, but they still wouldn't give up.

She had not really thought that far ahead yet, but now thinking about it, she realized that she would actually have to stay at the house for months till the baby was due, and even then, the journalists would probably be even more enthusiastic. She didn't want anyone to make any news and fuss about the baby. She wanted peace and calmness. Also, Nate had been acting too strangely, and it would be better for her to stay away from him till the baby was born, at least.

Nathalia went quiet, then muttered, "But mum..."

"As long as you want to join us, I will sort out everything else. Don't worry." Curt said reassuringly. He didn't want Nathalia to stay at the house where everything would remind her of Spencer.

"Ok. Yes, I will join you." Nathalia nodded after some consideration.

***

Two months later, at a café at the airport

The owner of the café was staring at the screen, completely oblivious of anything around her. He's so charming and good looking and talented!

"So, Mr. Matt Davidson has taken over the Davidson Group." She exclaimed. He has money, power; he has a look; he has everything!

Her partner threw a disdainful look at her, but he didn't turn off the TV and was watching attentively as well. "Well, it's expected, isn't it? Spencer Davidson never returned. Curt Davidson has to look after his sick wife and has no time for the company. It's also a great loss to him too. And it was about time he retired anyway. Matt Davidson is the only choice. Who would have thought he would be so lucky, though?!" He commented.

The Davidson Group was now having a press meeting, announcing that Matt had now taken over the company officially.

Various opinions were expressed on this decision.

"Yeah. So unexpected. Life is full of surprises. Poor Mr. Spencer Davidson." She heaved a sigh. Then she turned to look at her partner suddenly and asked, "Honey, do you think it was just an accident? I mean the plane crash. I don't think it's that simple."

"I know what you mean, but no one knows the truth. By the way, there hasn't been any news about Mrs. Nathalia Davidson. I wonder where she has gone."

"Some say she's gone abroad. It must be difficult for her. She was once the happiest woman that everyone envied."

Death was probably the cruelest way to set two lovers apart.

"Well, there are plenty more men for her to choose for sure." He responded casually. She has money; she's still very young and good looking. "I've heard that two certain men got into a fight for her." It won't be a problem for her to remarry at all.

"But she won't find any man as good as Mr. Spencer Davidson!" she retorted. She actually liked Nathalia a lot and always remembered her as the girl with a sweet smile, a kind heart, and a strong will. She recalled the happy face of the young girl she saw on TV and felt really sorry for Nathalia.

There was only one Spencer Davidson. No one could ever compete with him. He was the man that charmed thousands of women's hearts.

They were so involved in their conversation and thoughts that they didn't realize that two customers were standing at the counter.

They turned around to see them and apologized. "I'm sorry for keeping you waiting. What would you like?"

Lisa and Sophie were both staring at the screen as well. "Two latte's, please." Lisa turned away from the screen and said quietly.

"Sure."

They waited for their driver while sipping coffee. Lisa had just had her annual holiday and was in a good mood, but the news came as a dark cloud, blocking the sunlight in her heart.

She had many questions in her head. Within just two weeks, great changes had happened in the business field. The Davidson Group had affected the world business on a scale that no one had expected. She wondered if and how it would affect The Trend.

Sophie was knitting her brows, deep in thought. Suddenly, her eyes grew teary. "Mum, I'm feeling so bad. Why does Matt have to take over? I don't like it. It's not what he wants. It's Spencer's place."

"Sophie, it's not for any of us to decide. There's nothing we can do about it." Lisa replied gently. I wonder if Nathalia knows. She didn't even mention it. Or she doesn't care? But surely she should. I mean, her baby will be the heir in the future.

"But..." Though Sophie agreed with her mother, she couldn't help feeling bitter. "It just hurts to think about..." she muttered and started weeping. She felt as if there was a heavy weight on her heart. It was good for the Davidsons that they had got Matt at least, but she didn't know why she felt so upset.

Lisa cuddled her and stroked her hair gently, speaking softly, "It's alright. It's alright." She herself wished she could cry it out, but no tears came.

Just then, a few people suddenly rushed over. "It's Ms. Lisa Watson! Where have you returned from?"

"And Miss Sophie Watson! Have you heard anything from Mrs. Nathalia Davidson? Where is she?"

"Has she left because she was not happy about Mr. Matt Davidson taking over the Davidson Group?" The paparazzi wasted no time and grabbed the rare chance to ask all the questions possible.
