Chapter 51 - How did You Know?

One second, the man lunged at Liu Xiaodan. The next, his stomach exploded.

Blood painted his prison uniform and even escaped out of his mouth. His hands dropped the knife and went to hold his tummy. However, it was left looking like a pit dug by multiple stab wounds. The man fell to the floor with a plop, blood pooling underneath him quickly.

The other thugs stopped the attack they were planning to make. Their eyes were locked on that man who just died as soon as he left their safety of numbers. Soon, they dragged their gazes at the man standing not far away.

Liu Xiaodan still held out his hand, but his lips were already pursed. Those dead eyes didn't lock on anyone in particular, but they were still menacing just the same.

Qin Rong started backing off in fear. It was very different from what he had experienced before. He had killed two people after tormenting them for betraying his trust. However, he could always feel them around him, whispering inaudible words to his ears every time he was in Liu Xiaodan's company.

This very moment...

"Run... Rong'er, run. That's a demon..."

Bang! The voice of his old love whispered into his ears, and Qin Rong s.u.c.k.e.d in cold air. His entire body froze while he felt like he was having spasms all over at the same time.

He stepped back again, but he felt hands holding onto his shoulders—a cold breeze that felt out of place and very familiar. It was as if the two people were holding onto his shoulders.

What made it worse was that Liu Xiaodan slowly turned his head to Qin Rong. He stared at him without his eyes blinking even once. Right now, he spotted two people that were out of place in the crowd. Not only was one of them a woman, but they were dressed for an occasion. Someone seemed to be murdered on her wedding day.

"Hey, what's going on here?!"

The voice of a guard from outside broke the trance. Qin Rong was like a startled animal that ran swiftly without regard for his reputation. Soon, the group followed.

Liu Xiaodan was left with that dead man on the floor. He would panic, but he saw Guangru next to the dead when he turned to look. In a blink of an eye, both figures were gone.

Liu Xiaodan wondered where that body would show up again. He then took a deep breath and walked out of the place without a care for the pool of blood that was still on the floor. He met the guards, but he only stuck to the wall and was ignored by the confused officers.

The man managed to get back to his cell, and he decided to close the door. He then sat on his bed and looked at his hands. He did it again. If Guangru wasn't there, he didn't know how he could avoid such a disaster. He was only in prison for four days, and he had caused a lot of commotion already.

"Oh, I'm not hungry anymore." Liu Xiaodan exclaimed softly as he felt his hunger was not there. In that state of constant hunger, he was relieved to feel content for a while. However, he frowned his brows immediately. "Really? I had to kill to stop feeling hunger?"

"Xiaodan." Liu Xiaodan lifted his face and saw Tang Mingming holding the bars of his cell. "Are you okay?"

"Ming... ah, come in." He got up and swung the door open, but Tang Mingming didn't even move any closer. He threw a glance at the big bear before shaking his head. "I'm scared of entering other people's cells. If it's Jun's, then I might reconsider..."

"Jun...?" Liu Xiaodan pretended he didn't notice Tang Mingming's glance at the protector. He just stepped out of his cell and leaned against the bars to join Tang Mingming who just did the same. "You've said that name before as well..."

Tang Mingming's eyes twinkled before pulling his lips into a big smile. "Jun is my friend. Well... so much more since you've discovered it..."

When he said that last line, he lowered his head a little and blushed faintly. At this angle, it was so easy to be dazzled by such a pretty boy. He looked like he was so weak and begging to be dominated.

However, Liu Xiaodan felt like something was wrong. There was a sinister feel oozing from him. He just shrugged it off and smiled back. "Yeah, I guess. Is he taking care of you? Back in the shower, it sounded like he wasn't letting you off."

The other man retracted the seductive look and proceeded to just be a cute face in the crowd. "Hehe, did Xiaodan not have a girlfriend before? I'm pretty sure it's normal..."

"Girlfriend..." Liu Xiaodan's eyes dimmed as the image of Chuan Nayi immediately came to his mind. He didn't have the chance to be an actual boyfriend to her… now that he had chosen Liu Guangru over her.

To be honest, he didn't want to choose anyone... it was Chuan Nayi who made the choice. He only chuckled. "I don't know..."

"Ah, sorry about that. Forget I said anything." Tang Mingming was shocked to see that kind of expression. However, he did make a whimpering face. "Xiaodan... are you okay? I saw you getting ganked by those thugs. Didn't Che—he... didn't he try to strangle you?"

"Wow, you saw that?" Liu Xiaodan was pulled back to reality and chuckled as he rubbed the back of his neck. "That... well, it didn't really hurt so I should be okay."

Really hurt? He didn't even feel anything aside from budding resentment for the black thug. Then again, he realized he had said something strange...

Cheng pig? Liu Xiaodan wasn't actually someone who would insult others that way...

"That's strange." Tang Mingming pouted. "Anyway, you shouldn't probably get inside any of their cells in the future. I heard that they're all cold-blooded murderers. Be careful around them, Xiaodan."

Liu Xiaodan brought his gaze to Tang Mingming before pulling his lips to a smile. From his perspective, he saw the four guards approaching. Moreover, he didn't know what to say to Tang Mingming as an answer.

Cold-blooded murderers? Shouldn't he be clumping himself with them for that label?

The four guards arrived, and Tang Mingming only walked to the side. They then collected Liu Xiaodan for another visit. This time, it was not so shocking... but Liu Xiaodan still wished he didn't go.

The detainee sat on his chair and stared at the man before him. The man across him was still in his normal fly fashion, but aviators were on his face to conceal his identity a little. Moreover, he had lines across his cheeks like he was scratched by a cat, but the distance between the lines was impossible for a cat. Perhaps it was a lion or a tiger instead.

"You only have thirty minutes to talk to me. I don't think you should stay quiet now... Li Feng." Liu Xiaodan made an apologetic smile to the man. However, he was answered by a flash of anger in Li Feng's eyes. "I'm sorry about Ren Ditian..."

"Enough of that bull. You could touch everyone else left, really." Li Feng almost snorted. "What's this, Liu Xiaodan? Getting in prison and taking all of it with you? Is this your—what? Answer to being liable to us?"

"Yes."

"Where's the demon? I don't see him..."

"Demon?" Liu Xiaodan lifted his gaze to meet Li Feng's. He only blinked at Li Feng's glare. Did he mean Guangru?

A smile pulled on his lips as he remembered that sight in his nightmare that night. Such a very grotesque creature... that was the real Guangru. Saying that he was a demon now didn't shock Liu Xiaodan anymore.

His eyes then flashed with a strange glint. Liu Xiaodan stared at those glaring eyes again. "Li Feng, how did you know?"

"What? How did I know?" Li Feng almost raised his voice in mockery and shock. "Liu Xiaodan, keeping a mogui as a pet was one thing; knowing that it's a demon... you still kept it? What were you expecting to happen? What was it promising you?"

"Nothing... I was the one who made a promise to Guangru."

The man then g.r.o.a.n.e.d as he remembered that he had healing wounds on his back. He then straightened as he reached behind him to console his back. "Listen here, you rascal.

"The Ren family is suing, and my father wants a piece of you, too. When you die... what do you think is going to happen to... to Guangru?"

The father evaded his glare and reached up to rub his nape. "I don't know... he'll find another father, I guess..."

"Wrong. It's going to kill. You had already given it too much power. It will hunger for blood again, and it will kill all over the city." Li Feng sighed before he pulled out his phone. He glanced at the guards and showed the other a photo of a scripture page. "This... this thing is your so-called sweet innocent child."

Liu Xiaodan stared at the page that spoke of a demon who had been ravaging the city since the old times. It had the appearance of a dead tree, with a mouth deep enough to hold a dozen people.

His eyes then moved to the notes written on the page, saying that this demon followed young men into the night and would slaughter them. Most of its victims were actually exorcists that tried killing it.

Li Feng then took his hand back and flipped it for another page. He showed it to Liu Xiaodan again. "It was sealed successfully by my grandfather, the one you met.

"Just now, we discovered that it escaped and had been spreading miasma onto everything it touched." He then pulled on his sleeve and showed a whip wound to Liu Xiaodan. "I had to be purified for that..."

It was as if Liu Xiaodan's heart sank when he saw that wound. He didn't want anyone to suffer because of Guangru anymore, and yet Li Feng had to endure lacerations from a whip because of a miasma.

"I'm sorry..." he muttered. He slid his finger away to stop the touch, but when he did... the wound vanished.

"F.u.c.k!"
