Chapter 67 - Two Friends on Your Shoulders

Li Heilong's eyes lit up before he could even mask his amus.e.m.e.nt. A hundred percent? Really? How would a small child like that do so? Even if it's an ancient entity that had long roamed the land, how was it able to track down multiple people?

The father only hummed. "I see, I should be expecting good things from him then." He chose to leave now as Li Feng was more important than his justice.

Liu Xiaodan only watched him go along with the nurses that had left long before. He was then collected by the four escorts and walked him back to his cell.

The man lay down on his bed and stared at the ceiling as he thought about things. Somehow, he couldn't believe that Guangru would be looking for those people. Why would he go through such trouble? What did he want from Li Feng?

"Guangru, come..." Liu Xiaodan called out, hoping to see the child that he hadn't seen for a very long time. Two days was too much for him actually, especially that the ghost child was capable of dealing death to multiple people at once.

However, no one came to him. Liu Xiaodan only g.r.o.a.n.e.d and rolled in his bed. Before he could even fall into sleep, someone pushed his cell door open. As he had inhuman abilities, Liu Xiaodan didn't need to look to know who came inside his room.

"Liu Xiaodan! Aiya, wake up!" Qin Rong kicked the bars of his cell instead of the bed or the man itself. He was actually scared to touch him again. "We've been looking for you all morning. Gangster came back and didn't even say hi."

"Qin Rong..." Liu Xiaodan only spoke his name, but it was enough to send a chill down the other's spine. Why did this coward risk too much just to look cool in front of his henchmen? The film student then sat from his bed. "What is it?"

"Don't think we didn't know you did something to Boss! Where's this secret exit that you told him, ah?" Qin Rong didn't believe the Black Boss left them without a word.

The last they heard was that the black man fled and was never seen again... same with a few of his loyal subjects. Qin Rong was a loyal subject as well, but why wasn't he busted out along with the others?

Simple! Liu Xiaodan must have told them about an exit, and they weren't allowed to tell anyone else!

Right, Qin Rong believed he was a genius who cracked the mystery of Black Boss's disappearance. So he stood inside Liu Xiaodan's cell right now, hoping to be able to bust out through the same path Black Boss took.

"Oh, that exit..." Liu Xiaodan only chuckled. What exit? Death was Cheng Hei's exit, and so was the rest's. "Trust me, it's nothing you'd like to find."

"Cut the bullshit! Why didn't you let them find us first so we could all bust altogether? Did he promise you money?" Qin Rong growled. What else could motivate an inmate to share a guarded secret?

"Qin Rong..." Liu Xiaodan called him again, but his voice was like a whisper of a ghost calling out to the man. "That exit is off-limits. Unless you want to die, be my guest."

"Die?" Qin Rong's eyes quivered as he felt terror rising from inside his c.h.e.s.t. To his ears, two distinct voices of a man and a woman kept on whispering faintly. They were so certain that if he went with this Liu Xiaodan to the exit, he would certainly die.

He then shook his head to get rid of the voices he couldn't escape. "What nonsense! Black Boss didn't die, so why should I?"

Liu Xiaodan only smiled, but the curl on his lips was so cold Qin Rong felt something was amiss. The father then spoke after a few seconds, "No one said he didn't die."

The five men that Qin Rong brought with him all stepped back, even itching to lock the person inside so he couldn't get out. Even if it meant locking Qin Rong with him, they would do it. If Black Boss was really dead, then who's their backer now?

Qin Rong was doing much worse as he froze in his spot. The voices had long said the Black Boss was eaten by the pretty boy, that he was killed by this cold-skin maniac first before being fed to the hungry ghosts.

He s.u.c.k.e.d in air before trying to chuckle as if dispelling his fear. "D-Don't be stupid, L-Liu Xiaodan. There's no way Boss is..."

"You have two friends on your shoulders. Why don't you ask them about what happened in the audio-visual room?" Liu Xiaodan even pointed with his hand. "They weren't there, but that didn't mean they're not talking to others in here."

"Two friends?" The thugs outside the cell looked at Qin Rong's direction. There couldn't be two friends... since no one was behind him from Liu Xiaodan's perspective. Then again, what did he mean by what happened in the audio-visual room? Wait, wasn't that the place the Black Boss was last seen?

"T-Two..." Qin Rong's face was white and green and then white again. By two friends... did he mean the owners of the voices he kept on hearing ever since he came across Liu Xiaodan? Wait, that's very impossible, right? The two voices were just his imagination.

Then again, Liu Xiaodan reached for something on the floor and tossed it at Qin Rong. "What? Why are you giving me a pen?"

"Just take a look."

The high-ranked thug frowned at Liu Xiaodan before bringing the silver pen to his eyes. It was this kind which was coated with silver paint just for the style. However, instead of looking for any engraving, Qin Rong realized why he was given a pen.

Liu Xiaodan wanted him to take a look at his poor reflection on it!

Uncontrollable shaking in his knees came from his heart that wanted to escape from his ribs. It was hard to make out, but he could certainly see two people on either side of his body.

One was a woman with long dark hair with a white veil on. She seemed to be wearing a Western bridal gown, but the face under the mesh was already gray. The other side was a man in a dark blue suit; he didn't seem to be the groom, but he was wearing formal attire as if attending someone's wedding. Moreover, this man also had gray skin.

"F.u.c.k!" Qin Rong threw the pen back at Liu Xiaodan, but it missed the film student's face by a couple of centimeters. The high-ranked thug then ducked down and held on his head, his hands cupping his ears. "Holy shit! Get them away from me!"

The five men inched away again. They were so ready to run... more when one of them somewhat saw something incredible on Qin Rong's reflection against the cell bars.

There seemed to be... two people standing next to him. As they were wearing a white dress and a dark suit, they couldn't be inmates. It was as if visibly not seeing them wasn't enough proof that they shouldn't be there.

Qin Rong then realized something. He then quickly lunged at Liu Xiaodan's feet and held onto his leg. "Liu Xiaodan! B-Boss Liu! Help me! I don't want to hear them anymore!"

Bang! As if gunfire, his action sent a cue for the five men to run. Liu Xiaodan only gave Qin Rong a pen, and he grew insane! They couldn't stay there any longer! Besides, there was no point in following Qin Rong if the Black Boss wasn't backing him up anymore.

Liu Xiaodan watched the thugs leave before looking down at Qin Rong who was hugging his leg. "Don't hug my leg; I don't swing that way." He moved his leg as if shooing Qin Rong. "You don't have to hug my leg; sitting on the floor is enough."

"Boss Liu, help me!" Qin Rong detached from the leg and kowtowed at the man sitting on the bed. What made him shudder was that on his peripheral vision while prostrating, he could see a glimpse of a white dress and a dark suit on each side. They seemed to be... prostrating alongside him!

"Okay, stay down." Liu Xiaodan sighed. He then looked at the two friends who were also kowtowing. "You two, you do realize he wants you to go away, right? Why are you begging me to help him?"

Indistinct whispering came from the woman, and Liu Xiaodan only knew it was her since it was a woman's voice. The female ghost wasn't strong enough to convey words he could make out; probably so was the male.

"Qin Rong, did you have a fiancée?" Liu Xiaodan spoke, and it made the man shudder. Qin Rong kept his head down and closed his eyes. "Yes."

"Is she dead?"

"...yes..."

"Did you kill her?"

Qin Rong froze. Actually, that was his crime. He caught his bride fooling around with his best man, and he killed them on the spot.

What sent him to the maximum-security prison was that he broke their bodies and forced them into bags so he could sneak them out of the venue. He then tied rocks around them and dropped them into the river. Months passed before the crime was given light, causing him to be sent to prison.

He then shook his head. "That doesn't matter! Please chase them away from me!" The moment he saw the woman's eyes through the pen, he knew it was his fiancée who was clinging onto him. Actually, their voices were familiar, but he didn't want to acknowledge it.

"En, it does. They seemed to be sticking around to say something to you... and to protect you... from me." Liu Xiaodan remembered when they first appeared next to him.

They were very protective, but because they were weak and not resentful, they couldn't stand up against Liu Guangru. They could only force Qin Rong to flee.

"Say something to me?" Qin Rong bitterly chuckled.

"Please speak clearer... I can't understand what you're saying." Liu Xiaodan turned to the woman, and she tried to speak louder. However, her voice just sounded like interference against Liu Xiaodan's ear.

Suddenly, Liu Xiaodan caught sight of a black shadow seeping the walls of his cell. Before he could react, he heard the woman's voice clearly: "Rong'er did nothing wrong. It was our fault... we should have told him. As long as he's here, he's safe from that antique bitch..."
