Chapter 104 - Just Kill Whoever You Want

Lunch would normally span from 11:30 AM to 2 PM in the asylum. Their patients didn't have much to do so they were allowed to eat slowly. Moreover, their treatments might churn their stomachs so they let the patients digest their food well by giving them a long lunch frame.

During this time, the patients were allowed to interact with others. However, some patients were banned from eating lunch and interacting with others in the food and leisure hall. For now, even if security had tagged Liu Xiaodan, he was behaving properly by not hurting anyone in his area.

Moreover, the people at his table were starting to converse normally. He was the youngest among them, and it must have had an effect on these people to see someone who was around the age of their children.

A figure sauntered across the tables, and the nurses eyed at her with a mix of interest and caution. Even Yun He straightened his back when this girl passed by, getting alerted by her presence.

The people at Liu Xiaodan's table then noticed her eyeing their direction. They instantly grew apprehensive as if not liking the next few things that would happen. Liu Xiaodan noticed the looks in their eyes before he used a spoon to get a reflection of what they were looking at.

However, he was too late as the woman got behind him and wrapped her arms around his neck, her bosom pressed against his head. Even Anna glared at the sight.

"Big Brother, do you remember Mango?" Mango chuckled as she shifted her weight against him. She ignored the gazes of others on her.

"Ah, it's you." Liu Xiaodan wanted to take the woman off, but he saw weird marks on her arms. She seemed to have been disciplined, judging from the scars on her arms. "Why won't I remember you? You tried to stab me."

"Mango didn't try to stab Big Brother!" Mango twitched as if offended. However, she didn't speak more about it. "Big Brother, Mango's scared."

Liu Xiaodan only sighed and reached out to pet her head. "It's okay to be scared. You should sit down at your own table now."

She scanned the people around them and noticed that most of these people were not really insane. They were more human than the ones on her floor, and that scared Mango even more. "Why is Big Brother sitting with them? Big Brother isn't old..."

"We don't have to sit according to age. These are people I like talking to." Liu Xiaodan was beginning to feel strange the longer Mango held onto him. Something about her was making him… hungry.

'Strange… my hunger is resonating with the thing inside Mango. Then again, shouldn't she be with us if she was also plagued by a spirit?'

"Doesn't Big Brother like talking to Mango?"

Liu Xiaodan then chose to look at the direction of the nurses watching over them. Yun He was looking at them as if he was being prepared to spring up and fight someone. The father then scanned the hall and saw some vacant tables.

He then took a small plate of the leftover fruits. He tried to get to his feet, and so Mango let go of him. Liu Xiaodan gestured at Mango to follow him to another table, leaving the rest with strange looks on their faces.

They weren't offended that Liu Xiaodan chose her company over theirs, but they were concerned that the woman would do something to him…

Given that she tried to stab him before?

"Here, eat some." Liu Xiaodan fed the few slices to Mango, his eyes seeking the changes in expression of the nurses. "Does Mango remember what happened during our meeting?"

"O-Of course, Mango does..." The girl hesitated, her hands trembling as she held onto the slice. "Does Big Brother want to ask Mango something?"

"Mango, why did you try to stab yourself?"

Mango froze, but she only giggled. "Mango isn't trying to stab herself. She just wants to use the fork to..." Her lips wriggled before she suddenly changed seats from across Liu Xiaodan to beside him. She leaned against him and hugged his arm. "Big Brother, don't you think Mango is pretty?"

Liu Xiaodan began to have a stronger whiff of whatever he was feeling from Mango. Whatever was inside her and tried to curse him yesterday was making Mango subject to its will—orders she could only refuse in her heart. "I think Mango is also cute."

Her hand then slid down his arm, pressure coming from her fingertips. "So does that mean Big Brother… could help Mango? Last time, you didn't even watch Mango. Mango gets hurt if no one watches..."

"Is that what it tells you? That it'll hurt you when you fail to humiliate yourself?" Liu Xiaodan casually popped a slice inside his mouth and chewed on it.

"Mango—"

"The last time, it already tried to curse me. If it's really strong, then why won't it come out and play?"

Mango's eyes quivered before she grasped at the sleeve of Liu Xiaodan's arm. She didn't say anything, but she only pressed her forehead against his arm.

In the distance, Yun He frowned at the scene. With how Liu Xiaodan was in their session earlier, he had his own way of assuring people. Even if it was synonymous with saying 'I will blow off for you', it was quite convincing that he was capable of taking away the pain.

Not to mention 'willing'.

He couldn't help but recall his conversation with Fan Meiling. He then massaged his forehead to keep the headache from forming. "Mother in Heaven..."

A pen fell off of one's hand and made a crisp loud sound against the floor. It woke up Hung Guangjian who didn't even realize that he had fallen asleep. He groggily pulled himself from the awkward lean against his chair and g.r.o.a.n.e.d as he hammered his side a little.

Reaching forward, he cast his unfocused eyes at the computer screen; it was still on the profiles of the girls that died in their dormitory.

"Damn, I thought we'll be able to rest from these kinds of murders after throwing that guy in jail." Hung Guangjian took a look at the empty cup and g.r.o.a.n.e.d as he had to get up and make one for himself.

"No matter how much we tried, we can't find evidence that his friends had gone to the girl's dorm either."

While working on his coffee, Hung Guangjian recalled the notes of the court case against Liu Xiaodan. As a man of science, he never believed in the existence of ghosts. However, it seemed so hard not to keep this belief especially with things like these sprouting one after another.

He came back to his computer and saw an email forwarded by their internal affairs office. He opened it while sipping on his coffee, only to spurt it out on his screen. Everyone else in the office then turned to him in curiosity and concern.

"Guangjian?" "Detective Hung?"

Hung Guangjian ignored them as he wiped down his screen and reread the email carefully. He then frowned. "What are they thinking?! Letting the Mian family in the school? Cleansing the place? They're sick..."

The man then leaned against his back support and sighed before sipping his hot coffee. Ting University had fallen into the scheme of ghost offenders. How could they not trust the police now? Then again, the detective handling their cases in school had always arrived at similar evidence…

Perhaps the only thing they were sure of was that Ren Ditian and his friends were killed by Liu Xiaodan… nothing else.

"Detective Hung!" A young female officer walked in and delivered a folder for the detective. "Have you seen the email? That's official… here. They sent these to you for references."

"I can't believe we'll sink this badly." Detective Hung accepted it and looked at Officer Yu. "Officer Yu, your cousin is friends with Liu Xiaodan, right?"

Officer Yu blinked once and then bit her lip. "Did he turn up in the case again?"

Detective Hung shook his head. "No, I just wanted to ask a few questions. Can you call him to come in today?"

Officer Yu only went to call Ruan Jin and asked him to come down to the station. The man, who just woke up, had no choice but to go. Ruan Jin prepared to leave, bid goodbye to his mother, and walked the streets towards the station.

He was then on his phone, exchanging messages with his cousin sister. However, he flicked his gaze up to find someone waiting at the corner. He also realized that a few strange fellows were following him. His last text to his cousin sister only contained an address before he pocketed his phone.

"You look like you can just kill whoever you want, ah."

Ruan Jin stopped walking as he knew that this scene was somewhat familiar. He then turned to look at the man leaning on the wall, a smoke on his lips. "Not willing to see someone else doing what you guys normally do, Tang Ernian?"

Tang Ernian spat out his cigarette and walked towards Ruan Jin, towering in front of him for more than fifteen centimeters. "Don't act too arrogant. You'll only hit rock-bottom much faster.

"Tell me... why is Yueyue getting close to you, ah?"

"Hey, I'm not interested in that chick." Ruan Jin inwardly g.r.o.a.n.e.d as he heard the man mention Ren Shanyue. "If you want to know, why don't you ask her?"

"Tch, not only did you f.u.c.k with Ditian, but you guys are also playing the sister?" Tang Ernian flicked at Ruan Jin's cheek like taunting the shorter man. "You think you're a big-shot now? Come on, show me what you got."

Ruan Jin only backed off, not wanting to get into a fight before going to the police station. If he got caught brawling with these guys, he might just be lectured more than necessary. "Hey, I'm not in the mood to—"

Bang! Tang Ernian's fist flew and hit Ruan Jin squarely on the face. Before Ruan Jin could fall down, the goons grabbed onto him so Tang Ernian could beat him up. However, before he could deliver the next blow, dainty hands went to catch his elbow from behind.

All the men turned to look behind him and frowned at the pretty chick that showed up. Her smile was pretty, but her misty eyes made their hearts ache for her. She looked like she would beg them then and there.

However, Tang Ernian froze as he got a glimpse of the woman. He then violently tried to take his arm away, but the woman's grip was extraordinary.

"Holy shit! Let me go!"

The goons didn't know why their boss was acting like he was staring into a person that would kill him in an instant. Ruan Jin managed to get away from the goons and crashed to a further spot. He then went to sit on the ground and consoled his sore face.

Ye Ling then hummed and stared straight at the man pulling his arm away. "Why are you so terrified? Ah, wait, I think I've seen you before. You're that guy, right?

"That guy who managed to run away?"

"F.u.c.k, get away from me, you ghost!"
