Chapter 134 - If I wasn't Your Mother

Bang! Wu Qianqian fell to the floor after hearing what her father had said. The wireless house phone then echoed with the sound of an ended call. Wu Qianqian dropped the phone and held onto her c.h.e.s.t. Tears glistened from her watery eyes as she tried to ground herself to stop her panic attack.

Her sweet little boy was taken away from her reach when he was sent to the mental institution called Cherry Medical. Getting a pass to that place didn't seem to be a problem before Li Heilong was sent to the hospital. Then, this happened…

Her dad actually decided to turn his eye at her Xiaodan and remembered that accursed experiment they played on her mother. Right now, she was very sure that everything happening to her son was her fault. If only she did not pass on her blood onto him, he probably wouldn't be this unlucky.

She then got up from the floor and placed the phone back in its spot… before deciding to call Liu Li. She needed to let him know what happened. Wu Qianqian knew that she could not do anything on her own. If she tried to sneak out and cause trouble, it would only worsen Liu Li's health.

"Xiao Qian, what's wrong?" Liu Li quickly picked up his wife's call, recognizing the number as their home phone.

"Xiao Li, please come home." Wu Qianqian couldn't help but cry even if she was trying not to. Like she expected, crashing sounds came from the other end. It was Liu Li jumping out of his chair and snagging at a lot of things on his way. "Xiao Li, be careful. I'm fine, I just need you here."

"W-What's wrong? Did someone come? Did someone call?" Liu Li consoled his sore abdomen before he picked up the folders that fell to the floor after he almost flipped his table. "Is it about Xiaodan?"

"Yes." Wu Qianqian sniffed as she wiped her own tears. "I don't want to say it on the phone. Please come home."

Liu Li only promised to come home. Even if he had a lot to do after being away for a long while and there were only three hours left before clock-out, he chose to leave the office again to come find his wife. The company was in the good hands of the deputy after all. He quickly told his secretary to deal with everything else as he packed up to leave.

It took him ten minutes to come home. After he pulled up in the parking space, he quickly walked in to find Wu Qianqian on the couch. She was only holding onto an old photo album, and Liu Li knew exactly what it contained. He then sat next to her. "Xiao Qian, did something happen to Xiaodan?"

If nothing did, she wouldn't be holding onto his baby picture album, wouldn't she?

"Xiao Li…" Wu Qianqian sniffed. "I'm sorry, I… I promised you that no matter what my past was and where we came from, I would be a good mother to your child. Wuwuwu, I'm sorry. I'm sorry I turned him into a monster. I didn't really know what was going to happen…"

"This again…" Liu Li frowned. "Wu Qianqian, how many times do I have to tell you that you're not at fault in anything? Turning Xiaodan into a monster? Who told you it was your fault Xiaodan turned into something like he is now?"

"…Dad called. He said that whatever he did to Mom… it was supposed to come out in me." She started to cry again, but Liu Li was there to wipe her tears this time. "But it didn't so they threw us out; they let me and Mom leave. Just now, he called… he said that… it was showing on Xiaodan instead…"

Wu Qianqian kept on sobbing. "I knew it, this is my fault. It's not just my mother's blood; even that experiment got passed to him. I shouldn't have given birth to my Xiaodan…"

The male could only hold onto his wife while she was wailing. It didn't matter what he said; it wouldn't reach Wu Qianqian right now. She was going to cry until she slept. When she woke up, her head would be clearer, and Liu Li would get a better chance at 'absolving her of her crimes'.

It was another day of meal time in the Food and Leisure Hall, and Liu Xiaodan was once again left in the company of his co-patients from the fourth floor.

The oatmeal dripped from the big spoon when Liu Xiaodan didn't put it in his mouth as soon as he tilted it. He suddenly felt like something painful had struck his heart, but it was not physical pain. It was nothing compared to the tingly sensation every time Li Feng was asking for help.

He brought down his spoon and stared at the table. His eyes clouded over as he got lost in thought as suddenly recalled his parents. For some reason, he remembered the pitiful look on his mother's face when she apologized to him that day.

'It's better for you if I wasn't your mother…'

That was what she said. That was what she said that Liu Xiaodan didn't understand. She would blame all kinds of misfortune Liu Xiaodan had in his life on her as if she had given him a bad start. If anything, he didn't get to live the life of a little prince.

His father had a company he owned so they didn't have to grind for every food on their table. It was in its biggest state yet, and it had connections with a lot of other big companies in the capital because of Li Heilong and Mian Bingbing.

Liu Xiaodan had a very caring mother who would defend him from others and everything that scared him. He was protected from anything that could harm him; even a strand of his hair couldn't be touched as long as he stayed in his parent's home province.

The only different thing about him was that he could see the paranormal.

To think about it—ever since that day, Wu Qianqian had started to curse herself every time Liu Xiaodan had gotten in trouble because of his ability. He forced himself to ignore them so he could save himself and his mother.

To think about it, she would always say things like these when it had something to do with the paranormal…

Liu Xiaodan blinked and realized that three people were staring at him. They seemed to be worried because Liu Xiaodan was spacing out. He apologized to them and continued to eat his oatmeal. He should probably try if he could find out anything the moment he came back to his room.

"Old Xiong! I missed you!" Liu Xiaodan jumped on his bed and hugged the black bear.
