Chapter 139 - What did You Do Last Night?

"...how many have you consumed for so long?" The Mother's eyes glittered as she tried to snatch the blood seed, but Guangru moved away to avoid her hands as if he was protecting the candy on his palm. The Mother then calmed down as she kept her hands to herself. "What do you want, Guangru?"

"Leave the anomalies to me. I will take care of everything that bothered my Baba. As for you, you should just sleep for a long time." He then smiled like a giddy child, his eyes glinting red in excitement. "Like you said, there will be Hell in this place in a few days. Human souls are delicious, but I have never eaten a king for a long while. That one from Baba's school had just risen. The souls are not even drenched in agony and despair.

"As for this place, there's no telling how much darkness had acc.u.mulated inside those engineered bodies." Guangru then reached out his blood seed again, the Mother calmly taking it like it was a 100-carat diamond. "Take this and sleep. Let me have a feast in this place on your behalf."

The Mother stared at the red seed before looking up again. "Why do you wish to grow stronger again? I thought you wanted to be reborn as a human child. If that happens, you might lose everything you have. There's no point in regaining your old power, ancient wishing tree. You will be lost..."

Guangru shook his head. "That might sound like that, but the last time, I have nothing but a wish of my own to protect. This time, I have my Baba, and he's a magnet for disaster—not to mention a person who jumps before he thinks. Some kind of big league is going after him, and they have spirits at their disposal as well. They would be the most satisfying to consume." The child then grinned. "Aren't you excited? I'm excited."

A strange gleam flashed across the Mother's eyes before she retreated outside the room. This child spirit… he was the most dangerous when he was smiling the fullest. If he wanted to devour the Kings for his Baba, then the Mother wouldn't stop him anymore. "And so I shall sleep, Guangru. Try not to go berserk and eat me."

"Bye, bye!" Guangru waved at the closing door before he landed in front of the man who was already knocked out from fear and fatigue. The child moved his hand and took the man to bed. He spotted the nightlight and turned it on, casting light on himself and a shadow of a dead tree behind him.

"Liu Xiaodan is my Baba… if not my food lest he declined me in the future. Everything that he owned is mine, every life he treasured is mine… every little problem that he thinks of is mine." Guangru then smiled kindly as if he could see something in that soft light in the room. "So what if he's a property of this Qiao family? I found him first, and he's mine to keep."

Shiver. Liu Xiaodan was jolted awake by some kind of trembling that made his skin crawl. He sat up and realized that the day had come. A hand rubbed his eyes, and he proceeded to stretch for the morning. Liu Xiaodan pushed his door open, only for the alarm siren to blare all over the floor. It wasn't the first time Liu Xiaodan had heard it, but it's the first time it resounded without him doing anything.

"I just woke up!" Liu Xiaodan then noticed that a female nurse had run back from the stairs to a room with an open door. It was Min Ye's room. He then frowned and thought of investigating, but the main door was then opened by the special guards. Three and Seven directly gazed at Liu Xiaodan, and so he raised his hands as if he was being aimed at by their guns.

"Check the others." Captain arrived with them and wasn't shocked that Liu Xiaodan was about to go out of his room. He then assigned Three and Seven to stand guard around their category five threat, but they didn't have to cuff him. The female nurse came out and urged them with her eyes to investigate immediately.

Liu Xiaodan saw the two approached him, but he was more worried about Min Ye. He then asked as he got inside their earshot. "What happened? Did another ghost attack?"

Three's eyes only flickered behind her mask, but she soon shook her head. "We have no information. Just stay there until asked otherwise."

Behind her then ran two more male nurses with a stretcher, Yun He trailing behind them. They entered Min Ye's room and got him to a stretcher. When they rushed him out, Liu Xiaodan could clearly see that he looked like he was badly dehydrated overnight. His eyes had grown red, and he was trembling underneath the belts of the stretcher. When their eyes met, Min Ye forced his hand to reach out.

"Xiaodan! Help!"

Captain gently grabbed the hand and pressed it back towards Min Ye. Three and Seven were quick to grab Liu Xiaodan in case he ran to them. Before Liu Xiaodan could force it, Three spoke, "They need to check up on him first. If you want to see him, wait for Nurse Yun to give you the chance to do so. If you keep on breaking rules, you will have fewer chances of helping them."

"Ah… I see..." Liu Xiaodan stopped fighting the hold on him and only frowned. "What could have done that? I have never seen that before."

"...those people you might know as Wanwan and Wuji? The same thing happened to them, but they were deceased when they were found again. Did this mean that he was attacked but spared by that entity they called the Mother?" Three spouted words that Seven would call nonsense, but Liu Xiaodan understood what she was saying.

He only murmured in response. "The Mother, huh. She probably knew Min Ye was going to be taken for treatment today. Then again, why did she leave him alive if he agreed to come with her?"

Three sighed and released Liu Xiaodan before taking a good look at him. "Let's leave that for him to answer. As for you, why are you sleeping through breakfast? There should be an alarm for late risers, and yet you slept through that as well. Are you planning something? What did you do last night?"
