Chapter 178 - Rip Apart

Ruan Jin was walking with this one junior that he ran into. This time, instead of simple red walkie-talkies, these mediums were supposed to hunt for small-time ghosts in the Treatment Hall. Even if it sounded strange for a medium's area of expertise, Ruan Jin knew that these goons from the management were here for weapons. Of course, they needed to be excellent hunters first and foremost.

Each medium had a certain ghost to find. Since they had a different ghost to look for, it was okay for Ruan Jin to stick together with this sickly chick. Moreover, the sickly chick's companion was hard to summon. As for Ruan Jin, Ye Ling was only walking next to him, even holding his hand as they went.

"Ruan Lang, the cameras of this place are active. It wasn't like this earlier back in Big Brother Feng's test." Ye Ling giggled a little at the end as she realized that Li Feng hated being called Big Brother by Liu Xiaodan's ghost friends-slash-children. It's ironic since he was the most connected to Liu Xiaodan that the father could directly materialize through his blood. However, that wasn't the point of her words.

"Yeah, I can see the strange heads moving." Ruan Jin clicked his tongue. The cameras were moving slowly and soundlessly, and there didn't seem to be any blind spot from these cameras. In every corridor, there were at least three for full coverage. "Nayi said this place is out of order? I doubt it. They were just masking it for the test."

"I could turn on the lights, but that would attract things to us." Ye Ling hummed before turning to the other girl.

The sickly girl was actually holding onto the edge of Ruan Jin's shirt. She was really happy to run into him so early in the test. Even if she couldn't kill her ghost, at least there's a chance that she would survive the hunt. Almost everyone had that innate feeling, but of course, they couldn't openly express it—unlike those Qiao members.

Earlier when they were looking for the survivors of RS Moses, a rabid transcending ghost attacked them. Before any of them could attack, the bubbly Ye Ling dashed towards the ghost and tore it apart in one swift motion. It died and was consumed in an instant like nothing happened. Moreover, Ruan Jin didn't even care much as he didn't stop walking at that very moment Ye Ling killed the thing.

Then again, the truth was that Ruan Jin didn't notice what happened until Ye Ling told him about it.

"Brother Jin," the sickly girl called out his name softly as if wanting to ask something, "are you also brought in by those scary men? With your companion's strength, I doubt you're really here for the money. Moreover, you were flexing your aura back in the bus."

"I was what?" Ruan Jin twitched, but he then figured it could be Ye Ling who was leaking her own aura to keep the rest at bay. He only scrunched up his face and scratched his head. "Erm, I actually have no idea. I just went with my friends. Whoever big shot got us on board, I don't have a name or a face for that person."

'He only wanted to come and kill ghosts?' The sickly girl was secretly terrified; however, her hold on his shirt tightened. 'You wouldn't… offer to kill my ghost soon, would you?' She then turned to Ye Ling who was even prancing next to him. 'It doesn't even look like he was haunted by this spirit. Did he just happen into owning a ghost without care and decide to feed her?'

Before the sickly girl could speak again, Ye Ling then twitched. She then hopped in front of Ruan Jin, stopping the two mediums in their tracks. Her ghost aura then began to emanate solidly from her body. "Ruan Lang, stay back. A greater ghost is coming."

"Huh?! Are we… are we in trouble?" The sickly girl trembled and held onto her pendant, which she used to summon her companion from inside her body. However, that would take a lot of begging. If she was unlucky, she would be dead before she could even convince the companion to listen. She was afraid because Ye Ling sounded like it would be a fight between her and whoever was coming.

Ye Ling then turned her head towards the sickly girl slowly, not even bothering to turn her body. Her head went almost 270-degree to the back. A menacing grin rose from her lips. "Not really."

When the greater ghost entered their sights, Ruan Jin retreated and pulled the sickly girl back as well. They could see a huge snake-like thing darting its way towards them. It was shrieking loudly, its huge eyes glinting red in hunger. The mouth then unhinged and opened wide as if aiming to latch on Ye Ling's torso.

Ye Ling untwisted her neck, went to bow down, and covered her face with her hands. Howling came out of her as she began to cry, the sound of her crying echoing with a bone chill. Her fancy blue dress then faded into white, and the edges rolled out into becoming a fog all over the place. The snake ghost didn't care about it even if the rolling fog slowed it down.

In the next moment, Ye Ling brought her hands down to show off her face. Blood had marked her face as if it was streaming down from her eyes that had turned red as well. Her hair flayed into the air, and blood started flowing down from her neck down and staining the white dress. She dashed towards the snake ghost with her hands turning into sharp claws.

Bang! She pierced through the snake's jaw and slid through the side of its body. With the injury almost three inches deep, the snake ghost only screeched louder. However, it continued straight towards Ruan Jin and the sickly girl. Ye Ling landed on the floor and twirled around to face the ghost. Her red eyes glowed brightly.

"Rip apart…"

Her voice echoed just as the snake ghost was in front of Ruan Jin. Instead of running away, the man only used his free arm to block his face. Bang! The snake ghost made a strange movement and exploded on its own. Nauseous blood splattered all over the two mediums.

Ruan Jin then made a disgusted noise. "Geez, this is really my most hated part—even when taping!"

Ye Ling then fluttered towards them, slowly returning to her bubbly girlfriend image. However, when she landed in front of Ruan Jin, she turned in a direction and smiling directly into the camera. Her eyes looked so menacing that even the operators felt the suffocating chill coming from them.

'Tick-tock…' she mouthed as if she was counting down to something.
