Chapter 197 - Very Wary of Hades

They focused on a male in black garments and white slippers. He didn't look beaten up, but his hands were both bound behind his back. The man was waking up, and he even sat up slowly on the rolling bed in the middle of the hallway. His voice came through Yun He's speaker and through the earpieces given to the spectators.

"Ouw… what happened? Where am I now?" The man looked around, and it showed on Yun He's screen. From Yun He's perspective, the camera was fitted on the same earpiece edging from the man's right ear.

"Hello, can you hear me?" Yun He pushed on the button to communicate with the man, and the man wasn't loudly shocked. It was as if the man did feel like he was fitted with a transceiver on his right ear. Yun He spoke again, "Hi, I'm Nurse Yun. I'm guiding you through this place. Can you tell me your name?"

The man looked around and found a flickering green light. He then whispered as if knowing that the person was watching him through it. "It's Li Feng."

Yun He sighed off-mike. He knew what he was supposed to do, but he had no idea who the guinea pig was. For now, he could only speak with this Li Feng to find out more about the situation. Then again, based on what he had on-hand, this was going to be ugly. Yun He spoke again: "Okay, Feng, what's the last thing you remember?"

The creaky wheelchair continued to sound and irritate Ruan Jin's ear. One of the aunties was actually pushing him around the floor as if introducing him to the different rooms and patients that were not even allowed to leave their rooms. Of course, she wasn't walking anywhere close to the doors. She kept on telling stories as if reliving her days as a geriatric nurse.

"It's a little funny, but once you heard about everyone's story… you will notice the little and big things about everyone." She then slowed down as she got to the big door that would open only once in a while. A small smile came to her lips as she imagined leaving. "Like how everyone in our support group is actually medical professionals, military and police personnel… it was as if… we are all being thrown here to hide secrets…

"You must have dreamed of being outside these halls, too, Jin. It's just too bad that no one actually knows when it would be all over..." She combed through the hair peeking from the bandages. Then, she continued rolling and slowed down at the vacant room where Liu Xiaodan used to be. "Do you know? Xiaodan used to room here. We all used to be so scared to take a look at him, but when something happens… we can only call out to him.

"Save me… save me..." She hummed before rolling past. However, the door actually opened, and the old nurse was shocked. No one was inside, only a big black bear sitting on the bed. She pulled Ruan Jin back and made him face the room so she wouldn't be alone in doing so. "The door opened..."

She then stared at the big black bear's eyes as if it was telling her something. However, before she could push Ruan Jin inside, a voice spoke: "Hey, there. Can I take a look at him?"

The old nurse recognized the doctor's uniform and pushed the paralyzed patient towards the doctor. He then took over, and the auntie only waved at them before going back to her room. The doctor then pushed Ruan Jin back to his room, and he kneeled in front of the paralyzed patient. He did do the routine checks to see how responsive Ruan Jin was.

"I'm actually not a doctor for the fourth floor, but the third floor deals with the ones like you. I'm actually surprised that you're not on our floor. The other doctors said the same, but they just leave it be." The doctor spoke, trying to establish a friendship.

However, Ruan Jin only focused on those strange earrings on the doctor's ears. They looked normal for fashionable ones, but it was giving him a strange feeling. When they stopped swaying from the doctor's movement, Ruan Jin realized that the doctor was only looking at him by then.

"You look very healthy… just paralyzed." The doctor held onto one of his hands, but Ruan Jin was surprised when he saw that the doctor was showing him a syringe hidden in the doctor's hand… for collecting blood. The doctor continued to speak as he was skillfully drawing blood in secret. "Don't worry. You'll be fine in no time. I'll just need to speak to Nurse Yun about your treatment, Jin."

Ruan Jin stared at the doctor with a horrified gaze, but the doctor only smiled at him. "By the way, in case I forgot to introduce myself. It's Dr. Jiu… Yuan-li…" Wink.

When he first woke up, Li Feng didn't know what to do. He had no idea what those red lights were about, but since someone was willing to speak with him and keep him company, he decided to stick with this Nurse Yun. Fan Meiling might be with Yun He, but Li Feng still proceeded with what he did remember. He then asked, "Do you have any idea what she exactly meant when she said she knew what to do with me?"

Yun He glared at his screen, but it didn't let it show. "Effective earlier morning, you have been removed from Red Scales. Right now, we're hoping you can help us with the project Dr. Fan mentioned. It's called Project Hades. I can't tell you more than this, but your current task is quite easy. You need to help us locate… Patient 4-29, known to you as Mo Xingli, a former participant of Red Scales Noah."

The one beside the nurse actually gave him files regarding the involved participants. It seemed that both Mo Xingli and Li Feng were relocated from other projects. Seeing this, Yun He was more convinced that Ruan Jin was also from another project. However, what caused them to cripple him to total paralysis?

"How should I help? Standing live bait?" Li Feng frowned as he listened to Yun He's explanation. In fact, standing as live bait was indeed quite easy, but surviving Mo Xingli and everything else would be a different story. He then asked, "Nurse Yun, tell me the truth. Are the ghost kings set free like what was done in the last test? I can fight Mo Xingli, but her companion is a ghost king..."

"..." Yun He moved his gaze to Wu Zhong who only smiled and nodded even if he wasn't watching Yun He. The nurse then continued, "The red lights are indeed a sign that the Kings are being set free. However, only Pacman moves around. God Raven, Abbadon, and the rest hadn't stepped out of their paddocks yet.

Yun He couldn't help chuckle as he lifted his eyes and saw Liu Xiaodan phase into one of the camera's view. "They're very wary of Hades after all."
