When Song Qixi heard that, he knew something was wrong. He quickly turned and aimed at the body, but the supposed immobile dead body rolled out of the way. Thick fog had also rolled in, concealing the surroundings further than a meter. Song Qixi quickly grabbed onto Chu Youlan as Sun Yinxie pulled on Fan Meiling. Qiao Ni stepped forward to silence the King with the talismans, but the sneak attack wasn't launched yet.
Tap, tap, tap. It was the sound of someone's feet running towards them. Song Qixi and Sun Yinxie fired in the direction of the sound at a slow rate. The sound stopped, but with the fog still there, it was hard to see if they had indeed hit the body.
Chu Youlan's face was all red again now that she was pressed against Song Qixi's body. However, the Qiao Yun disguise was stopping her from breaking out of character. She then remembered something and squirmed around to check her own tablet. She had a tracker on that body because of what Song Qixi wanted to do with it. "Boss, it's in the hallway… but it's staying still."
"Why would it stay still?" He looked down at the tablet and saw that the body was indeed in the middle. Estimating the position in the map, he then aimed at a certain spot. However, before he could pull the trigger, a strange voice whispered in his ear.
"Shoot yourself."
Song Qixi suddenly moved his hand, and to Chu Youlan's horror, pulled the trigger when the gun's nozzle met his head. If the woman didn't grab the gun, her boss could have been dead. Bang! Song Qixi's bullet only shot his glasses off, but the man was trying to fight against Chu Youlan's adrenaline strength.
Qiao Ni used a talisman on the man to disperse the whisper of the Weeper. The sergeant woke up in an instant and immediately brought his gun down. He then roared at Qiao Ni as if she was one of his underlings. "Kill that thing! Explode the body—I don't care!"
The shaman didn't mind this one time, but the fog quickly dispersed. The body seemed to have run away based on the location being shown on the map. Chu Youlan immediately checked on where it was going even if she was still sitting on her boss. Strange… "Hm? It left the floor? Why would it flee now? Boss, it's headed… I'm not sure. Why didn't it leave earlier?"
Song Qixi could endure the position because he couldn't see anything with his glasses. However, listening to Chu Youlan, that was indeed weird. He then massaged his forehead. "I don't care. Can you find my glasses? Even if it's broken, I need it."
"Ay..." The woman then turned to the side and saw the glasses. She reached out for it and checked if it's still usable. It only suffered a crack from the force of the bullet. How good was it to have reinforced items? She cleaned the lenses and put it on Song Qixi's face before she realized she needed to get off.
That was also when Song Qixi got up as well and flattened the crease on his shirt, only to notice something. He then began to look around. "Miss Yun, can you check what key card opened the door out just now?"
"Hm? It's still yours… I mean we just went through there. Wait… it logged the activity twice?" Chu Youlan then twitched and raised her eyes to meet Song Qixi's blackened face. "It stole your key card!"
"The thing has intelligence." The sergeant's face twitched, but he ultimately glared at Fan Meiling. It was her fault that the girl still existed after all. Then again, there was no point in pursuing that matter or the actually possessed body of Nurse Yun. "Let's just see this project you're so proud of."
…
Liu Xiaodan had no idea what time it was already, but it felt like time had become a concept to him. Without seeing the outside world, he only knew if it was time to sleep or time to eat. However, it looked like it was late night in the facility. All lights in the hallways of the Sick Hall were turned on, but the rooms were all dark. Even though there was nothing but pitch-black darkness, Liu Xiaodan could still see the movements within.
The humans left in this place were really brave. They didn't escape to their protocol rendezvous and chose to stay with their patients. Then again, some of them were actually just here because a ghost was wondering that time. Right now, though… there didn't seem to be anyone out here right now.
"Baba, what do you think happened to Jin?" Guangru was riding on his shoulders so Liu Xiaodan wouldn't have to bother carrying him with one arm. Besides, if he kept that arm occupied, Liu Xiaodan would burden him with the task to draw a wound every time. That… actually made Guangru angry and uncomfortable. Why would he want to keep on wounding his own Baba? "…Guangru didn't check yet."
"It's okay. Don't worry, it shouldn't really be that bad..." Liu Xiaodan said so, but he didn't know if that was true. If anything, Ruan Jin would be tinkling with the electronics if he was not feeling ill.
Then again, that very mental image hurt Liu Xiaodan. These people came here to fetch him, but they were all getting harmed because of a certain man. If it was Wu Zhong or Li Xiaodan himself, he didn't really know. However, he really did hope that Ruan Jin wouldn't be in big trouble at all.
Tick, tick, tick. Scratching noises echoed from the next hallway, and Liu Xiaodan was bound to meet another spirit. When he took a look, it was a person leaning against the door. He was using his finger to scratch off the knob, making a hypnotizing tick-tick-tick.
Liu Xiaodan didn't bother with the ghost. If it attacked him, he will let someone eat it. It should be enough for Yi Junhai to snack on again. However, as he walked past it, the ghost moved its head like how an owl would. The ghost eyed the father and stopped ticking his nail against the knob. It then started following the father.
"Do you need something from me?" Liu Xiaodan stopped walking and looked past his shoulder to find the ghost who stopped in its tracks. Getting a good look at the ghost's face, Liu Xiaodan could see the sullen look on its face. Then, he watched it take a few steps towards him.
"Help… help me..." The ghost reached out his hands towards Liu Xiaodan as if trying to touch him from afar. "Help… help me..."
Liu Xiaodan turned around and walked towards the ghost. He took a hold of the hand of the ghost, the ghost seemingly realizing that Liu Xiaodan's hand was a lot colder than its own. "What do you need?"
The ghost only stared at him as if it was very… very troubled.
