Ruan Jin was very sure he didn't want to see that demon child anywhere. Besides, the coldness coming from Guangru's skin and his strange weightlessness against Ruan Jin's c.h.e.s.t was proof that it was indeed him. Ay, this was all real; Guangru was here. The paralyzed man murmured, "…hello?"
The demon child only stared at him before patted his head. The child then turned to the father who couldn't face his friend on the bed. "Baba, he's poisoned. It's the same one being injected into Mr. Li, but in a different spot so it has different effects. Don't worry, he's not dying. He's just paralyzed. Dr. Jiu should be formulating a cure or something. Let's go find Dr. Jiu, too."
"You can't help him with the poison?" Liu Xiaodan lifted his brows, but the child only stared at him. The father seemed to understand something, and then he turned to Ruan Jin. "Jin, we're going to look for the doctor, okay? You're very safe here. You don't need to be so scared."
"What about you?" Ruan Jin murmured before he forced his hand to move and weakly grasp at Liu Xiaodan's shirt. "…where's… your safe place, you punk?" His painful hand trembled, but he didn't want Liu Xiaodan to leave. Who cared if he was safe there? What about Liu Xiaodan? If this place was safe, why wouldn't he stay?
Liu Xiaodan gently pried his friend's hand off of his shirt. "I'll be okay, Jin. I still need to do a lot of things. We will be right back, and before you know it, we're all going home, okay?"
A strange smile was rising from the lips of his friend, but Ruan Jin still looked like he was going to cry. "Hey, do you know? I saved Li Feng's a.s.s one time, right? Do you know… what I got in return? A ten-million-dollar condo unit. It's really great… I'll show it to you… when we get out of here. Mom also left the douche… damn, Xiaodan, don't you… dare not come back. Help me get a Maserati out of Li Feng next..."
"You scammer." Liu Xiaodan laughed out before patting his friend's face. "Let's make him shit four of those, one for us each."
Guangru led the way as Liu Xiaodan closed the door while Ruan Jin and Old Xiong watched. As long as Old Xiong was with him, the child was confident that Ruan Jin could flee from this place anytime.
Even if Liu Xiaodan wanted to have Ruan Jin treated on the spot, Guangru declined. Ye Ling was not inside the friend, and it would be dangerous to get caught in the battle between a King and Guangru. It would be better for him to stay paralyzed so he had no choice but to wait. The only thing Liu Xiaodan thought of was getting the people from the Sick Hall here. This place looked more reliable.
"Let's ferry them to this place instead." Liu Xiaodan decided, but he suddenly froze. Another wave of terror hit him, and that only meant one thing: Li Feng was agonizing out of mortal danger again.
…
Minutes earlier…
The group just finished their own cans, and some had decided to take a nap while waiting. The place was rather safe after all. Li Feng was leaning against the bed while Chen Anna was let on it because of her limping state. The chef, the nurse, and Meng Guo napped with the wounded woman. The two soldiers were keeping watch, especially when they didn't have the superior creature with them.
However, Mian Qingtao was actually dozing off and snoring softly while Du Zhizhuo was busy updating himself with the movements of the rest. Sabotaging a facility with advanced technology and occult masters seemed to be harder than it was on paper. Then again, it wasn't undoable.
Skidding noises then came from outside, and Du Zhizhuo held onto his rifle. The presence woke up the two men from the Mian family, and they had all grown alert. Li Feng quietly and carefully woke up the rest while the soldiers readied for contact. What terrified Mian Qingtao was that a black flood was rolling from the direction of the stairs. He held onto his rifle tightly.
"Please don't be Abaddon..." He murmured almost inaudibly.
Dennn! The lights from the hallway all shut down, leaving the mortal eyes to be on their own. The whole place was completely in the dark.
Old Doctor actually had his eye closed to not disturb the humans, but he was awakened by the presence. He was tasked to protect these people or just serve as Liu Xiaodan's beacon. When the light coming from his eye shone at the glass door, everyone saw humans pressing against the glass wall!
The gasps of the normal humans were all held back. They didn't realize that a bizarre creature was inside the room with them, but the combatant males didn't even care about it. They were more concerned about the people pressing against the glass wall. Soon, the people outside started getting pressed against the wall as if something was pushing them against it with force.
Tck-tck! The protecting formation of the room started to crackle, and that only meant that an entity was causing damage to it. The bodies continued to be squished, and every passing second was becoming more and more torturous to the people inside. Du Zhizhuo and Mian Qingtao knew that this was Abaddon, and yet they didn't want to be so loud. They wouldn't be able to control the panic of the people inside if ever.
"Ah, this room had live people… and protection..." A low voice came from the hallway, and huge red eyes appeared in the black fog outside, through the gaps of the people's heads. "Sorry though… I am very strong. Let's see how long this could keep you… safe."
The people's head was starting to explode against the wall from the pressure, and the protective formation started to crackle loudly—it was as if it was screaming from the pain the King brought. The women patients were starting to scream while the nurse could only use her body to hide them with her lithe frame. Frustration began to rise as the group knew that it wouldn't hold in the next minute.
Li Feng gnashed his teeth. He didn't want to call for Liu Xiaodan right now, but he really had no way of defeating a King. He didn't have a ceremonial soul sword, and he didn't know how to earn such a thing. If only he didn't forget about contingencies, he would have trained for that first before coming here.
"I see one of Xiaodan's pets with you..."—Abaddon chuckled maliciously—"but I'll pretend that I don't know him. I promised not to harm the father after all… only him." A huge black hand slammed against the glass wall, shattering it without any efforts at all.
"Shit!" Li Feng covered the rest with a blanket to protect them from the shards while the two soldiers began to unload their cartridges at the black flood. However, the King just swatted them both with his waves of corpses. He then reached out towards Old Doctor. "You're mine now!"
