Chapter 245 - Moving the Camera

"Guangru is sealed?" Song Qixi twitched as he heard those words. He thought that he would never hear a piece of good news anywhere. For it to come from one of the Kings…? Song Qixi pushed up his glasses. "Where did he run to? I have to find him. No, wait… stay here and digest. When you're ready, we'll look for him. If you want to please me, at least let me watch him die."

"Agreed." Abaddon saw no point in declining. Besides, it wasn't the one waiting—it was the one that needed the time to digest. However… "Master, I need one more favor..."

"Say it."

Song Qixi said that, but the King just moved too quickly as if it was already granted permission. Then again, what permission did it need? It was a King undergoing transcendence. In a few minutes, its power would change into a higher being. All it needed… was a place to rest.

The sergeant didn't know what happened in the next few seconds. All he knew was that he was covered by the black flood as if Abaddon forced itself to nestle inside his body. Song Qixi only hugged the head tightly until he collapsed on the nook. As long as no one new had gone to the Treatment Hall, there was no way he would be found unconscious.

The leader's eyes were on the screen the entire time. He watched the black flood vanish in one direction and failed to show up again. It was as if it had found a place to cramp itself in. The shaman not-soldier just told him that a King would need to sleep before rising into a stronger form… just like every other ghost. There's a chance that a new demon would be in the Treatment Hall soon.

He then turned to Captain who was still holding onto the radio. Just earlier, reports had come in. A few had run away from the black flood, but most of them had been eaten. Even their field officer was actually left to deal with the creature to stall its movements.

"Command all units to retreat. It would be awful if they f.o.r.c.i.b.l.y awaken a demon."

The shaman was watching with the leader, and he knew exactly what everyone kneeling on the floor was thinking. He had to look over his shoulder to advise Captain. Moreover, there was still this demon chasing a dead body around. It would be bad if that demon lashed out on those soldiers.

Captain looked down at his radio and issued a command. They were indeed pulling out now.

"This is the captain speaking. All personnel, mission abort. I repeat, mission abort. Get out of there." Captain issued the order, and all the teams decided to stop their pursuits and run back to their rendezvous spots. They didn't want to stay in that place longer than necessary, especially after hearing about the experiments.

The leader didn't stop him, but he still kept an eye on others who might disobey orders. It's just that they saw one group passed by a certain floor, one where they actually saw strange things on the floor. The field officer then reported to the Captain: "Captain, this is Seven. We just found Patient 4-29, Mo Xingli. It's just the head, though."

"Sir, there's another body here..." One of the soldiers discovered the remaining parts of Chu Youlan, but they were only limbs most likely. The head and central body were missing. He reached out and picked up a combat knife on the floor. "Sir, this is not a standard issue. Looks military to me..."

"Noted on your report, Seven. Just get back here," Captain called out again, and the group decided to hurry down. The soldier that found the knife, however, kept it before moving on.

"Phew! Ay, sir, Rooms Hall cameras are working now, ah!" 'Lady Love' sighed and waved his hand before the other tech person worked on displaying the Rooms Hall feed. There seemed to be no movements at all. The analytics guy then whispered to the other tech person, and the latter focused on the fourth-floor cameras.

One of the doors actually opened, and a rifle nozzle took a peek. The analytics person spoke, "Sir, it's probably our little deserter and the ballsy piece of shit. Oh, look, they're walking out."

The shaman walked back to his spot, and the leader took out his radio. He switched frequency and tried to make contact using the frequency used by the radios worn by the elite squad. With the other members switched to another frequency, those two were the only ones who would hear the lead soldier of the saboteurs… and, of course, the ones in the Control Room.

"Nine, Six, this is Control. We have visuals on you." The leader grinned as he spoke. Of course, it scared Mian Qingtao who only looked down at his radio. That wasn't good news if they were being seen.

"You're late." However, Du Zhizhuo only growled as he replied, taking out his radio and speaking to it. These radios were only secondary communication devices if ever they lost their helmets. It wasn't really feasible if they were working in stealth and secret, but that wasn't the case right now.

"Haha, what are you two doing in a very private place, ah?"

Du Zhizhuo looked around and tried to find the camera, only noticing that the once-dead one was flashing green light again. He then flipped the bird at the watchers. After that, he cleared his throat. "There's a dozen more inside, waiting out the storm. How long have you been watching? Did you see Treasure?"

The leader frowned. "We just activated the cameras again. Some guy with Lipstick remotely turned them off. We don't have any visual on Treasure. What's his last known location?"

"Here. On this floor. One of the civilians said he just walked out to check something out. He's not yet back."

"Why didn't you go with him?"

"If you get whacked by some f.u.c.k.i.n.g ghost King, you might want to rest your body, sir." Du Zhizhuo growled before looking around as if assessing the dark floor. "We'll be heading out for a look—"

Du Zhizhuo paused because he just saw a shadow peek from a side. He quickly held onto his rifle, and Mian Qingtao took a quick sweep as well before slowly moving in. Du Zhizhuo spoke softly, "Do you have eyes on that corridor, Control? I saw a shadow."

The leader looked for the particular feed from that place, but the cameras in the Rooms Hall were just catching the same thing that he was seeing. "Nine, we do see a shadow. Just… just a shadow..." The camera then moved its sight away. "Hey, why are you moving the camera?"

"I'm not controlling it." The hacker frowned as he was trying to make the camera look back at the previous spot. However, it wouldn't respond. They were all stuck to watching the camera turn and then stop at an angle. In the dark, they were starting to make out the figure… but it was actually crawling on the ceiling.

"Nine, do not proceed. There's a ghost in the area," the leader whispered at the radio transmitter as they stared at a pair of glistening purple eyes in the dark.
