Chapter 254 - I will be the Gift

Ruan Jin's eyes widened so badly as he looked up at the face of that girl he prayed to see again. He started crying, but Ye Ling only reached out to wipe the wetness off of his eyes. "Shhh, I'm sorry… it took me a very long time to find you again." She moved down to kiss his cheek. "Let's wait for him to finish with Guangru… someone carved a seal on your body. I can't get in… I can't even find you..."

"Ling..." Ruan Jin then closed his eyes. "That's it, I'm dead..."

"Not yet, Ruan Lang." She only giggled before nuzzling against his face. "I will never forget their faces. I will kill them. It doesn't matter if they're already dead, I will kill them again. Ruan Lang, just stay there for now. I might have to ask around for information."

Ruan Jin couldn't hold onto her, but he didn't want her to leave again. "Just stay here. We'll ask around when I feel better. Don't leave me alone, Ling."

She then sighed. "Alright, if my Ruan Lang wants it..."

Ye Ling only waited for Ruan Jin to fall asleep again. She had left Chuan Nayi's body when the doctor came and injected something inside Ruan Jin. Ye Ling thought that the doctor was doing something vile to her hubby, but the doctor's words to Ruan Jin proved that he was actually trying to reverse whatever that sergeant had done to the poor horseman. Right now, she wanted to know what happened.

Why was Guangru sealed, and what should they do now that their strongest backbone was like this?

After feeling that Ruan Jin was sleeping heavily again, she moved to leave the room. With the guardian spirit called Old Xiong protecting Li Feng from being disturbed, she didn't have to worry about Ruan Jin being in trouble all of a sudden. She exited the room and looked around. Her white dress fluttered around and saw a group of three ghosts at a side. They were all sitting on the floor like students in detention.

"Hello, can I ask you a few things?" Ye Ling approached them gently, trying not to startle them. However, the purple-eyed ghost only looked at her and smiled. Tang Mingming had been around Liu Xiaodan for so long that he could recognize Guangru's siblings even just the slightest whiff of their aura.

"What do you want to know about?" Tang Mingming readily answered, but he didn't stand up. He just accepted Yi Junhai who moved to get inside him. Old Doctor was only staring at this woman who looked so human despite being a ghost. The purple-eyed ghost patted the space Yi Junhai vacated as if asking her to sit down with them.

Old Doctor couldn't do the things that Tang Mingming could, and so he went to ask: "Ming, who?"

A naughty laugh came from the other male ghost. Tang Mingming flashed a grin at Ye Ling. "What do we call Xiaodan's handsome shaman cousin?"

"…Big Brother!" Ye Ling's lips spread in an agreeing grin.

Blink. The ritual circle from under his feet vanished, and Li Feng actually fell to the floor with a loud thud. Ruan Jin was so deep in his sleep that he wasn't awakened. A groan came from Li Feng as he went to sit up. He felt his body had grown so stiff from his attempt at fixing the seal. Even if he managed to salvage the broken parts, he had no idea how Guangru was planning to break out of this seal.

Based on what he learned while fixing it, the spell was… not Mind-Boxing Seal. It was a rather nasty version that destroyed the consciousness of the entity being sealed. Since he was only there to fix the broken seal, he had no control over what would happen to Guangru's intellect after this. All he managed to do was to complete the seal to be able to have something to break. Breaking a prem.a.t.u.r.e seal could lead to a lot of dangers.

One of them was for the entity to actually lose itself. Since the seal was prem.a.t.u.r.e, everything connected to it was would be affected upon breaking it. If the broken seal was completed, it would only have influence over a fraction of the affected area. It's like having a seal trying to close one's mouth, but if the seal was left prem.a.t.u.r.ely, it would affect the face and the throat area.

If someone broke the spell, the person might lose their ability to make sounds or even their nasal airway.

Li Feng wished he had so much more to work on, but that spell was probably from the Qiao family. He could only do so much for Guangru. The shaman then crawled to the wooden statue and held on the head that looked so horrifying. He used both thumbs to feel the shallow indention of the pareidolic face and sighed. "If only I was as strong as Mommy, I would be able to help you from the outside…

"That's right. Maybe I should try to see if I could improve a little. Maybe by then, I would be able to help you." Li Feng didn't want to give up and leave it be. Even if the child spared efforts in saving his father from the stabbing and his family from Xiao Luan, he was able to save them nonetheless. A weaker being like Li Feng didn't have that option; he could only work hard to pay the debt.

Assuming the meditative stance on the floor, Li Feng started to disconnect from his physical body again. He then managed to find a void somewhere around Guangru. Since Liu Xiaodan was able to jump into dreams and the black horse had once helped him cross, Li Feng figured he could be able to do that to help Guangru break out. It's just that the void was producing this very resentful state and burning aura.

It was rather scary…

"Don't go inside. You will only lose yourself." Old Xiong's voice echoed, and Li Feng decided not to do it. The guardian spirit was versed in fixing things like this. If he believed that Li Feng wouldn't be able to do it, the latter didn't want to risk it. It was not a matter of proving himself strong; it was a matter of life and death.

"You don't have to wait for me, Guangru. However, if I could help you, I would when I'm done." Li Feng came back to his body and started cultivating his energy. If he could get to a certain level, he might be able to summon his ceremonial soul sword. By then, he might be a lot more reliable.

Deep in that void was a wisp of consciousness. It was extremely passive, but it was rather moving violently. Like a wisp of fire, its light flickered like the embers that it remembered in its darkest memory. Then, a low soft voice started to chant to itself: "What's so good about having a child? Why do they want to have a child so badly? Is a child synonymous with a gift? A very precious gift from one person to another?

"I want that, too. I want to have a child, too. Ah, no… this time, I will be the gift. I will be someone's child."
