Chapter 261 - Bubbly, Neighbor-Friendly Young Man

God Raven's eyes glittered as it opened its beak, expecting something to be pushed inside. Chuan Nayi stared at it and felt terror just by thinking of what was being asked of her. What if this thing bit her hand off? When she reached out, Liu Xiaodan moved his hand as well and put it inside God Raven's mouth. If the bird decided to bite Chuan Nayi, his hand would be the first to bleed.

Of course, God Raven wouldn't dare to do anything stupid. This Liu Xiaodan had endured the most powerful sutra God Raven had ever heard, and this bird had also run away from it. This transcendent being, however, walked in and claimed the object that was being suppressed by the sutra. Guangru was already an ancient demon; how powerful could Liu Xiaodan be?

Upon sliding their palms against the hook at the tip of God Raven's beak, the skin was split apart and drew blood out. Then they both smeared their palms at the bird's tongue. Surprisingly, Liu Xiaodan… still tasted like a piece of prime-cut meat that he used to be. It was as if the faded blood was not transferring outside his body, as if the faded blood was only contained inside him.

Was it because the faded blood was turning into Kings? Or because other ghosts were feeding on it? God Raven didn't know, but he was so motivated to try looking for the shaman.

"I will contact you again." God Raven didn't care about transcending anymore. It could sleep for a long while after everything was settled after all. The bird then suddenly melted into the floor, jumping into his portal just like that. The Mother only watched in envy; she still needed a lamp to travel around freely.

"Their Mother, we'll be going now." Liu Xiaodan felt like he shouldn't move around a lot while waiting. He wanted to find Li Feng, but with someone who was more mobile on the case, perhaps he should take care of other things like… checking up on Ruan Jin or asking Tang Mingming about a few things.

Just like that, the two had left. The Mother only hummed as she was left on her own in the hallway. As if getting ideas, she hid in the shadows and crept around the walls of the floor. When she happened to reach the room where most survivors had gathered, her lips began to curl into a smile.

Tak! Tak! The sound of someone walking with a crutch echoed in the dark hallway. On his hand was a standard-issue pistol while the nurse next to him held the flashlight. Just earlier, the electricity just went out, and the whole infirmary suffered from the black-out. Even if Eight was amputated, he still volunteered to be the one going with his nurse to see what happened.

"Mr. Eight, I don't think we should continue anymore. There's no one around..." The nurse clutched on her c.h.e.s.t. She didn't know why no other souls were on their floor. It was the same floor where the security personnel was stationed. Even if they had been running around the whole facility, this kind of vacancy had never happened before. Could it be that the place was evacuated without telling them?

"Imagine going back and saying something that would alarm everyone. Let's at least find someone who could tell us why the power went out." Eight didn't like it either, but he didn't want to be stuck in a room with a lot of people. He might not be a bad person, but he still wanted to survive. Escaping was way easier if he only needed to think of himself and the other person with him.

"Mr. Eight, someone's approaching." The nurse turned her attention in another direction and saw the group taking Sun Yinxie to the interrogation room. "Isn't that Yinxie?" She then ran to them, making Sun Yinxie calm down at the sight of the young nurse. "Yinxie, Yinxie, what happened to you?"

Eight's eyes instantly grew narrow and cold. If he found the need to escape, he's not taking anyone. He didn't care if he had to limp all the way. What a very bad taste. Still, he wondered why Sun Yinxie was being dragged like a criminal. Since they finally found other people, the two followed them, Eight asking questions.

It was strange. Eight knew the sergeant quite longer than most. Even if Song Qixi was prone to do stupid things like burning buildings down, he wouldn't be someone who could sabotage the facility. Why? Because like most who had been trapped here, this place had been his life. How many people in this place didn't leave as this was all that they ever knew?

Moreover, it was more shocking to know that they were attributing the sabotage to Liu Xiaodan! Who was Liu Xiaodan when he just came there? Wasn't he quite the bubbly, neighbor-friendly young man? How did he become a person who could risk getting everyone killed?

"Hmph, that man wouldn't resort to cheap tricks like causing chaos just to kill people." Eight knew that Liu Xiaodan had the capability to mass-murder a lot of people, but he was also the type who wouldn't implicate the innocent. Hearing that this was his plan made it feel very absurd.

The group arrived at the interrogation room. Strangely, even the Captain and the heads of the security operations were all detained in that very room. When Eight and the nurse walked in, one of the soldiers guiding them aimed a gun at the nurse's face. He said, "Sit down over there."

Eight was shocked. Why were they being detained as well? He instantly regretted not going back. He only looked at the nurse who didn't have an ounce of care on her face since she was just very worried about Sun Yinxie. As they were seated, Director Sun arrived.

"What are you doing? What's the meaning of this?!" Director Sun himself was being detained, but they only asked him to sit down on a chair. He wasn't cuffed or anything as he was already an old man. What could he do against trained operatives? "Yinxie! There you are!"

"Dad!" Sun Yinxie got on the floor and crawled towards his father. If he stood up and ran, he might get shot dead. "Dad, what's going on? Are these people nuts?! Me sabotaging your facility? What's going on?!"

Captain turned away. "We're also held at gunpoint. Those thugs even dared to threaten us with bombs. Tch, who knew they were really going to use those when necessary?" He could still remember how they had been captured and how laughable it was for a military-trained person to fall victim to a mercenary.

However, Captain couldn't determine if those men actually had military training as well. "Anyway, it's not wrong that Xiaodan is with them. If anything, all of this could have been done because he was sent here."
