Chapter 283 - What Happens Next

Wang Yusheng only gave a deeper, meaningful smile before leaving. He actually had a lot of things to do after he was assigned to watch over the patients from the facility that were accepted in this hospital. If Sun Yinxie kept on calling for him because of Liu Xiaodan's friends' antics, he might have to ask the father to deal with the problem.

After the doctor left, the three hors.e.m.e.n only sat on the edges of the bed. Liu Xiaodan then cleared his throat. He then turned to Li Feng. "They saved Director Sun?"

"They needed his signature for your official release forms," Chuan Nayi answered for Li Feng, sighing as if it was not something that could be helped, "It seemed that Mr. Li's foresight is a lot further than any of ours. I actually didn't want any of the bigwigs to survive. Then again, the liability for those experiments was not solely exclusive to the facility. There are actually people who fed the facility with subjects, with their own consent or none."

"Sergeant Song confessed to that." Liu Xiaodan even got one name from that man. Perhaps, Li Heilong could help him track down all those people. However, this time… Liu Xiaodan was surprised that Tang Mingming didn't b.u.t.t in. Perhaps… "Wait, I think I have to go see Director Sun now."

Li Feng's face twitched. "Your children are all getting out of hand."

Liu Xiaodan got up from the bed and jogged to the door. However, he still stopped when he heard Li Feng's words. A mischievous grin then spread on the other's face. "Yeah, you're the only one behaved—"

"Piss off!"

Numb. Sun Yinxie had grown numb. He didn't care that a black-haired child was sitting on his l.a.p and that three more unspeakable things were lounging on the couch. A black teddy bear was sitting at the corner while a black horse stuffie was boring its gaze into his body.

He didn't know why they were all watching over him, but he figured it was because the black horse was there. Now, if only the black horse would be taken away by someone…

"Mr. Five?" Liu Xiaodan quickly located the rest and opened the door. As his voice echoed, he saw Sun Yinxie die completely—no one could save him now. The father walked in and took a look at everyone who was waving at him. These naughty entities thought that they were free to disturb a random person, ah.

"Baba, Big Brother is watching over him." Guangru pointed at the man on the bed, and Liu Xiaodan took a look. Director Sun didn't seem to be doing fine. He lost a lot of blood, and his organs were damaged. They had already performed surgery, but his body was taking too long to heal. Based on what he knew… if Director Sun didn't wake up in forty-eight hours, he might not make it anymore.

"Baba, worry not about him. We cannot keep on performing miracles..." Heima spoke to the father's mind, and Liu Xiaodan actually smiled at him. He circled around the bed and perused the black horse. "You're also stitched up. Old Xiong was as well. Thank you for enduring..."

The black horse's eyes glinted with a happy light. Liu Xiaodan stroked at it before he placed the guardian back at the nightstand. He then began speaking with Sun Yinxie even if his back was turned to the latter. "After your father recovers, will you chase after me?"

Sun Yinxie had his head pulled back, but he moved it down to set his gaze at that back view of a monster. "Who wants to chase you? Who wants to run into you? Just give me my dad, and we'll be going back to his ancestral home somewhere. He's already old. Even if we used the entire money of the facility as compensation for everyone, I save up enough for both of our retirements. Leave us alone."

Even if Sun Yinxie's tone was not good, Liu Xiaodan only kept his silence. He then turned his head to look over his shoulder. "He still had to sign my release forms and see it through."

"Release forms? Heh, is that why he's still alive?" Sun Yinxie almost spat. His father's life was reduced to a single signature. "If you want your release form going through without a hitch, you'd need Dad's signature… as well as your attending nurse's and doctor's. Too bad two of them are dead."

"...then, that means his signature is not needed anymore?"

"No, I mean—shit, what do you really want?" Sun Yinxie felt like his entire body shuddered. He shouldn't have said that. What if they suddenly thought it was not worth it to save his father?

"...an official release. I only need to confirm it with Judge Wen, right?" Liu Xiaodan turned around and cast a neutral gaze, but those lifeless eyes were enough for Sun Yinxie to freeze. It was as if he was staring at a dead person whose status was rather contagious. It was as if he could touch anyone and kill them just the same.

Sun Yinxie then slowly realized what he had just said. "I don't know about that part. All I know is the doc.u.ment that you'd need from the facility's end."

A smile pulled on Liu Xiaodan's lips. "So you can help them prepare it?"

The soldier twitched and curled like a shrimp while avoiding the child on his l.a.p. He was too scared to commit to this because he didn't know what to do with it as well. Maybe his father was really the person they needed, but… "Only Dad can help you. Then again, what happens next? You'd kill him, too?"

"We'll probably deal with the Qiao family and anyone who tried to attack us. If your father kept himself out of that trouble, he wouldn't be harmed by me or my ghosts." Liu Xiaodan had to say 'by me or my ghosts' because he had no idea how the Qiao family would deal with Sun Yinxie and his father. "I can only promise that, as long as he's under our watch, he'll be safe."

"Dammit..." Sun Yinxie sighed. What else was there to do?

Late night…

Liu Xiaodan couldn't sleep even if Chuan Nayi's warm and soft body was next to him. He started thinking of the next things that they should be dealing with. Even if the incident's investigation was not yet over, there should be preparations already at his end. What were the things that he needed to deal with, and what were those that he didn't have to deal with?

The father got up from the bed and walked around the house at night. However, he ran into a figure that he never thought he would ever see. Within the white main lobby stood an elderly woman in her white sleeping robes. When she turned to face Liu Xiaodan as she felt his presence, her eyes met his gaze…

Liu Xiaodan couldn't help but freeze and tremble.
