Liu Xiaodan didn't even have to squint to see the small entities that had attached themselves to the wife. He could see the wedding ring, and she was even trying to work it off of her finger. She started to yell, not caring if a nurse would come to shush them: "You are nothing—that I thought you were! You really deserve to be left by anyone!"
The ring was stubbornly clinging to her finger that she was even scratching her skin just to clumsily get it off. Liu Xiaodan decided to cut in. "Missus, please calm down. That ring looks expensive. Don't throw it around. Besides, it's a ring. Your shoe already hurt; what if your ring got into the ventilator?"
"What?" The wife heard a different voice, and when she thought an orderly was talking to her, she actually saw a young man who seemed to be in his early twenties. He was in casual attire, looking good in his simple get-up. Perhaps, seeing another person reined in her anger. Moreover, when he was hovering his hand over hers, she felt the need to shy away from a stranger.
"Who are you? What do you want?" She backed into the room and straight to the bed where her daughter was. Liu Xiaodan used her action as an excuse to enter the room. However, he was still looking at the panicked woman. "I'm not going to hurt you, Missus. Actually, you were the one who hurt me. You threw your shoe at me when I was just passing by."
"Huh?" The woman twitched and murmured to herself as if thinking, trying to recall the first time she had thrown her shoe.
While she was occupied, Liu Xiaodan turned to the patient. She looked like she was just eighteen or nineteen. Her body was so skinny, but it was not because she was toning down her food. It was because she was also being fed on by the spirits. She looked really pale, and she seemed to be in comatose already. A blood drip was on her arm, and the need to expose her arm showed off the lines on them.
The poor girl must have done something to rid herself of the ghosts that terrorized her.
His eyes then turned to the mother who was despairing on the couch. She could only cry at her hands. He then walked towards her. "Did the doctors say anything about her?"
"She won't wake up anymore. She lost a lot of blood, but she was supposed to be healthy enough to survive." The mother continued to weep. "But she… she won't even wake up for four days now. This is even the third hospital we went to. My little girl… my little Fangfen! How could I even let this happen to you…?"
"Have you considered coming to the Mian family to see if they could help?" Liu Xiaodan was so sure that ghosts were causing it so mentioning this wasn't random for him. However, he didn't expect a rather gurgled ridiculing laugh to come from the mother.
The woman lifted her face and actually laughed at Liu Xiaodan. "Is that what you are? Are you one of those money-grubbing people who would fool others of their money? Go away! I don't need you here! Leave!" She sprung to her feet and pushed Liu Xiaodan at the expense of her balance.
However, Liu Xiaodan was able to catch her without a problem. He might not have muscles, but his body was strong. "Missus, please. You don't have to push me. I will leave since you already told me to do so."
"Leave! Go away! Leave us alone!" She said that, but she grabbed onto his shoulder and cried so loudly on him. Anyone with a heart wouldn't be able to leave someone despairing like this. "...why… why can't anyone help me?"
"...don't get on my face," Liu Xiaodan whispered as one of the ghosts took fancy of him and tried to get on him instead. The ghost didn't pay attention to his gaze… unless he actually flicked the ghost off of the woman. They were weak things so it was rather easy to get them off, especially at Liu Xiaodan's strength.
The mother heard him and thought that he was talking to her. She wanted to say something, but she noticed that he was staring at something behind her. She then moved to look over her shoulder and found nothing that he could be looking at. It's just that the moment she looked back at him, he was already looking at her.
Liu Xiaodan frowned lightly. "Missus, I know you don't believe in things like this, but the ghosts on you are annoying me. Do you mind if I get rid of them? I mean, I might do something weird..."
"What are you talking about?" The mother didn't know what to say. Her daughter had been telling them that she had been seeing things that no one could, and they were s.u.c.k.i.n.g the life out of her. The mother thought that her daughter was just being very lazy on days that she couldn't even get out of bed because of 'weakness'.
Someone actually said 'ghosts'?
Liu Xiaodan helped her to stand on her feet and retreated to a spot. He took out a self-defense ring from his pocket and used the small blade to poke a hole in his palm. The bead of blood formed rather quickly and vanished from sight as Cyclops appeared in the room. The temperature grew colder in an instant, and both the woman and the ghosts froze—only the entities capable of seeing the King that emerged out of thin air.
Thin tendrils shot out of Cyclops' body and captured all ghosts in the room. They wailed in despair as they were instantly fed to the King. The only thing that crept Liu Xiaodan was that he was looking straight at Cyclops whose vision was transmitted to his mind. He was looking at his body from a hundred sets of eyes.
It didn't help that some eyes would blink when his physical body did.
"What happened here? Why is it so cold?" The father from outside felt the frost even from his seat. He was already intrigued when his wife started screaming from inside. However, when he came inside, Liu Xiaodan was already pocketing something, and his wife looked like she didn't know which planet she was on.
"Yueji, what happened to you?" The father grabbed the mother's shoulder and shook her awake. "Yueji, talk to me! What did he do to you?!"
Liu Xiaodan was just finished taking Cyclops back when his eyes landed on the father. On his back was the gray-skinned woman who looked like it was wondering where the rest had gone to. When it went to take a look behind it and saw Liu Xiaodan, the man smiled. "Ah, I forgot about you. You're probably wondering where they went. Don't worry, you'll find out soon."
