Pure rage welled inside Liu Xiaodan as soon as their car stopped. He was known not to take things lightly when it came to things putting his family in harm's way. He then murmured in icy coldness, "Dad, just give me a few seconds."
Liu Xiaodan wanted to summon his Kings, but someone suddenly went to tap onto their window. Apparently, some people actually saw how their car almost spun out of control. In the face of concerned people, Liu Xiaodan couldn't help but rein in his anger and act like he was clueless about what happened.
…
"A dog?" Li Feng was on the phone with Liu Xiaodan. The latter actually stopped his driving lesson just to deal with this dog. The spirit dog dared to harm his father who was in the car with him. If it was just him, he wouldn't be so mad. Right now, he wanted to know if the said dog was a nuisance… so he could just straight-up eat it.
"Yeah, it's strong enough to push away the car while it's moving." Liu Xiaodan was walking along the streets, trying to look for that dog, but it was no longer at the spot where the accident happened. It didn't help that he was staring at the skid marks his tires had made.
"...be careful, it could be a Fu dog. Then again, I didn't see any temple in that neighborhood. Let me look it up." Li Feng sounded like he was splashing water.
Liu Xiaodan frowned. "Are you taking a bath?"
A chuckle came from the other end. "No, it's just a Jacuzzi." After a few moments of silence from Liu Xiaodan, he began to speak again. "Okay, so… there's a demolished temple five kilometers from that neighborhood. Based on the photos, the Fu dogs seemed to have endured a lot. As for why it came there, I have no idea."
He then twitched. Since it was something connected to the protection of human lives and structures, Li Feng thought things couldn't be so simple. Moreover, it might even pose a bigger danger. "Uhm, you should probably try to ask either Old Xiong or Heima about this. Fu dogs are also holy beings like the guardians. They might know why something like it had strayed too far from its designation."
"Alright, I'll look for it some more before going home to ask Old Xiong." Liu Xiaodan then frowned his brows. "Also, can you not answer the phone when you're taking a bath?"
"Like I said, it's not a bath. It's Jacuzzi." Li Feng laughed out as if mocking Liu Xiaodan over the phone, even draping his arm on the girl next to him. "You should build one. It's awesome." He snickered, inviting Qiao Shan's giggle, the girl failing to keep quiet.
Liu Xiaodan only sighed before saying 'yeah, yeah' before hanging up. "What a show-off…"
He then pocketed his phone and looked around again. He wasn't really pissed, but he really wanted to find that dog. It better should have a good reason for endangering a human now that it could be a temple guardian.
However, after a few more hours of walking, he could only walk back home. By then, he ran into the dog… who was sitting at the curbside facing a familiar house. It was the house of the Chuan family. Liu Xiaodan walked up to it and towered down its small stature. It might be a Fu dog, but it's really just as small as a Pekingese.
"Hey, you. Are you the one from earlier?" Liu Xiaodan hummed as he took a good look at the Fu dog. The dog then finally turned to him with a rather confused expression. "Yeah, it's you. I don't think I've ever seen a Pekingese that so small and muddy like you."
"Who are you calling muddy?! How dare you insult me?!" The Pekingese growled and barked with its small yapping sound that Tang Mingming found cute and funny. However, he couldn't go out and say it… after discovering that it was actually powerful like a King. "This great one will cause doom to befall on your family!"
Liu Xiaodan proceeded to glare. "Curse my family, and you're dead."
The Pekingese yapped in fear as it backed off. It wanted to scuffle away from the sight of this strange yet bone-chilling existence, but as a guardian dog, it didn't want to back down from a terrifying spirit. That made it wonder again. "Wait a minute! You're clearly human! How could you radiate like a demon?!
"It must be from the ones inside you then." The Pekingese grew serious, its aura starting to show as it started to glow. Its originally white fur gleamed like snow reflecting the sun while the yellowish smudge of color on its face was turning red. "Worry not, mortal being. I will get rid—"
"Baba..." Guangru showed up from behind and grabbed the head of the Pekingese dog. "You shouldn't talk to spirits out in the open."
"Hm… Guangru, you're home." Liu Xiaodan lifted his brows. At first, the father actually thought that Guangru was just hanging out with his mother now that she was going around. However, she was actually at the Wu Family Estate, stuck working with her needed doc.u.ments for the company. Since she heard that Liu Xiaodan was training to 'combat' the sun, she just wished him luck for now.
Guangru only smiled at the father before dropping the smile as he looked down at the Pekingese that was shaking under his hold. The rather impressive glow was gone, and all that was left was a Pekingese that was terrified shitless from the touch of an ancient demon. He then moved his hand and picked up the small dog that was not too big in the arms of a six-year-old. Heima just moved to perch himself on Guangru's head.
The child then turned the dog to face him. "You… dared to harm my grandfather?"
"...I didn't mean it. I just thought that the car was only filled with ghosts..." The Pekingese couldn't even lie at the face of the child. However, it was turned around again and hugged by the child. "Please release me. I'm just an insignificant guardian. I am nothing compared to you..."
"Shhh… stop barking." Guangru hummed before looking up at his father. "Baba, did Big Brother Feng say when you will take care of that King in this house?"
Liu Xiaodan then looked at the house again. "We don't know yet. We got involved differently." He reached out a hand to the child, only patting the child's back since Guangru was holding onto the dog. "Let's head home first."
The child, however, shook his head. "This doggie is bad. Guangru's not taking him anywhere near Grandpa." He had a child-like speech, but his eyes were a lot colder than the depths of hell. The Pekingese shrunk, but it was still eyeing the house—this unable to escape Guangru's eyes. "Let's kill the King tonight."
