Chapter 335 - There He Stood

The woman demon actually liked the look in the eyes of the hybrid. Moreover, since he was recruiting as he said so—the meeting spoken to her by Tang Mingming earlier. She then prepared herself to speak again as if she only had one chance to impress the hybrid. "...I want to go with you… free food..."

Liu Xiaodan lifted his eyes at the woman and smiled. He could always just test this one in battle after all. He believed that this demon would surely be intimidated to rebel after seeing three spawned demons.

"...you're just letting her join?" Li Feng raised a brow, to which the woman demon panicked a little. What if this man messed up her chances to regain her power? Whether she would stay long or not, at least she had a way to regain a fraction of her power.

She then turned to Li Feng and remembered what everyone else had said. Whenever this man would get angry, she had to verbally appease him. Now that he wanted to keep her out, she must beg him like a normal human. "…please… let me join you… Big Brother…"

Piak! Li Feng ended up breaking the chopsticks in his hand when it balled into fists. He didn't glare at the woman but at Tang Mingming instead. The purple-eyed prankster hid his laughter at the secret test for newbies that Old Doctor had passed long ago. As long as someone with sentience came with them, they would have to go through this rite of passage.

However, Liu Xiaodan didn't hold back his reaction. He ripped loud laughter that even made him curl down and hide in case Li Feng threw something at him.

"I'm home!" Liu Xiaodan called out as he opened the door. As his words echoed in the main lobby, the maids present reciprocated the greeting. They all stopped whatever they're doing and greeted back, "Welcome back, young master!"

Still, Liu Xiaodan would take a long while before getting used to this. He was only used to hearing his parents' voices back in high school and his friends' voices in college. Now that he had moved into a big house with a lot of maids, there were things that he had to not be shocked about. Moreover, wasn't it like this back in college as well? In his first year of dorming, he wasn't really used to having three strangers sleep in the same room as him.

He then approached one of the maids and handed her the two bags of peaches he received from Mian Tianni. Actually, the Mian Residence had eaten a lot of those peaches, and most of them were already sick of these peaches. However, those peach trees were Mian Yunmi's pets; Mian Tianni couldn't neglect them. It was good that even if a lot of peaches dropped before harvest, she had someone to accept them.

Actually, she could basically use these as Liu Xiaodan's pay for every entity he took care of.

What were these peaches? These fruits contained purified yang energy from the sacred grounds and from the daily purification in their residence. The ground was too pure now, and that was why the fruits were too many that some actually drop from the branches. The guardians would basically treat these as their own blood seed.

Surprisingly enough, even the friends ate this peach. On their way home, everyone was busy munching on one. The yang energy in one was comparable to a person so even if it had no blood in it, the yang energy they consumed was like eating one. The demon woman was extremely happy.

"Mom, Dad, I'm home." Liu Xiaodan walked into the waiting room where Wu Qianqian was perusing some old albums while Liu Li was having his tea. He was immediately attracted to the album as he figured it was old. The young man walked behind his mother and looked down… "Is that…?"

"We were cleaning the bas.e.m.e.nt when we saw this kept in a locked box." Wu Qianqian chuckled. "I can barely recognize anyone in the faces of the photos, but here… take a look. This is Mama, your grandma, Xiaodan."

She handed him the album and showed a rather blurred photo of a small child holding onto the sides of her skirt. She looked so aloof and evasive, but she still took a photo with her brother and two sisters. She… looked very similar to Liu Xiaodan as if he was a female version of her. No wonder Wu Zhong could identify him so easily.

His eyes, however, narrowed lightly. This girl… it was that same girl he had seen before. She was the one who couldn't activate her talismans and kept on summoning spirits into their house. If that was indeed Mian Lengleng, then perhaps he managed to awaken her blood in his by then.

Still, they felt like they shared the same vibe of childhood.

"She's really pretty..." Liu Xiaodan was surprised when more and more shots were shown to him. At high school age, she had begun to change. The aloof aura around her was beginning to recede, and the normally impassive face had a smile curling her lips. However, it was too passive as if she didn't have opinions at all. However, within those dark eyes was a strange wormhole to the abyss of her soul.

Liu Xiaodan blinked and saw people who resembled Mian Tianni and Mian Tianyu. There was also this one girl that Wu Qianqian identified as Mian Tianshan. She was supposed to be the eldest, but she was too weak that Mian Tianni ended up inheriting the Matriarch position.

Wu Qianqian even hummed. "I don't really have a lot of memories about Bingbing's mother. It was like she had swapped with Auntie Leng when they grew up. I barely saw her in the residence, and she was even said to have run away with another man after five years of marriage. Oh, here, here, this is Auntie Chang."

The mother met Mian Qingwei and Mian Qingtao during Song Qixi's funeral so she remembered a few things about her third auntie. Mian Chang was quite like Mian Lengleng but less gullible. They did look alike, but she tended to be what Mian Lengleng was not. When Mian Lengleng had her hair in plaits, she wore her hair long. When Mian Lengleng wore pink, she wore blue.

To Liu Xiaodan, he could only find the similarities between Mian Chang and Mian Qingwei. They looked so similar that one would say they were twins. Then, he felt a spike of anger and resentment coming from inside him. It was coming from the woman demon. He only held onto his c.h.e.s.t and looked at the next page.

There he stood. Wu Zhong.

"...I have forgotten that Dad was a real looker back when he was young. As much as I remember, he was supposed to marry someone from the Song family, but he ran into Mama when he was helping Auntie Xue escape from the Mian family from time to time." Wu Qianqian hummed as she pressed her palm on her cheek. "I wonder what kind of father he would have been if only he didn't obsess about Project Hades."
