Three days after…
Loud footsteps echoed all over the hallway as someone sped to the bathroom after the body of the feet banged open the door of their bedroom. Liu Xiaodan was quickly awakened and thought that something very bad had happened. However, when he chased after Chuan Nayi, it was just her throwing up miserably on the toilet. He then helped her rub her back as she kept on emptying her tummy the wrong way.
Wu Qianqian and Matron Yuye came closer and were shocked at the scene. They exchanged glances and went to deal with it as they were knowledgeable in the area. Liu Xiaodan was left to stand at the side and not get in the way for now. He was only let to watch them work while getting worried about Chuan Nayi's pale face.
In the end, the young master was asked to get the maids to serve the breakfast since Matron Yuye was assisting the poor sickly woman.
When he got to the dining hall after making a trip to the kitchen, he spotted his father seated at the table already. He was on his tablet while enjoying his brewed coffee. Liu Xiaodan walked towards him and stretched his neck to see what his father was doing. It seemed that he was taking a look at the stock market. It was that complicated stuff that Liu Xiaodan didn't like… only Yi Junhai enjoyed working on that.
"Good morning, Dad." After settling on a nearby seat, Liu Xiaodan greeted his father. Since he was already around before he spoke, Liu Li was not surprised by his presence. The father waited for the maid to serve breakfast to Liu Xiaodan first before he spoke to his son: "Xiaodan, what happened upstairs?"
"Nayi started throwing up all of a sudden. She looked so sick and very pale." Liu Xiaodan took the small honey jar and poured some on the pancakes he had for himself. "Do you think I should take her to the hospital later?"
For some reason, Liu Li gave him a long stare before the father went back to checking his tablet. He took a sip from his coffee. "Let your mother accompany her instead. You work on the groceries. You should move around again now that you're fully rested from your last mission."
Liu Xiaodan scratched his head and only nodded. Did he do something that made them hate him?
…
The car door of the metallic blue Ford Edge closed with a loud sound. Liu Xiaodan, the young master of the Wu family, was out with a young maid to buy the groceries. It's not that he didn't know what he was supposed to buy, but that he needed someone who knew the pantry inside and outside. He was not familiar with the brands they were using, and he couldn't pick off the freshest ones for the produce.
Well, Matron Yuye didn't expect much from a college boy who had limited funds back in his university days. He might be able to buy some things perfectly, but the possible mistakes were a waste of money and time.
The maid was the youngest one in the household. She was only twenty-five and had come to help out her mother. Since working as a maid in the Wu Family Estate gave more salary than a normal clerk position in a hotel, this young maid chose to work for them instead, despite her vocational degree. Walking next to the young master was a little nerve-racking for her… considering that Liu Xiaodan was too familiar with the Li family.
"Would you like to pick out the items, or would you like to push the cart?" Liu Xiaodan asked, and the maid only stared at him for a while before saying, "Let me man the cart, Young Master. We will look like a couple if you push the cart—" The young maid froze; why did she even say that out loud?
"You're right. I'll let you deal with the cart then." Liu Xiaodan was fairly easy to talk to. He only pulled out one and rolled it for a bit until they got to the shelves. The two then started to get busy with the list, Liu Xiaodan with what he knew and occasionally asking about some items.
She only had a small smile as she sighed inwardly. She was not ready to endure a young master who didn't know how to do the things they were supposed to do together. When she was about to turn to the shelf next to her, a small child walked up to her. He was carrying bags of snacks.
"These, too, Big Sister… can we buy these, too?" The maid took a look at the child and felt like he was so pretty. With a very smooth and milky complexion, no one would not want to kiss this child's face. His silky black hair and round dark eyes also entranced her into giving in. However, she only took one of the bags. "No. These are junk food. Why don't we get some biscuits instead? They're healthier. Xiao Ru, be good. No junk food."
Sigh. She almost forgot about this strange child that would often show up around the young master. He was supposed to be the young master's child, but the young maid could tell that the child was a little strange. Nonetheless, as long as he presented himself as a child, he would be treated as a child of the Wu family.
Guangru only pouted. Those were also for the others. He couldn't be the only one getting snacks, right? Before he could speak again, Liu Xiaodan had already placed down a can in the cart. He also took the bags and placed them inside while smiling at the maid. "Erm, don't worry. Those are not just for Guangru.
"What do you say, Guangru? Should we look for the baking items next?" Liu Xiaodan carried the child, and Guangru held onto his father's neck. The child then giggled as he glanced at the maid. "Pancake! Pancake!"
"Young Master, how many friends do you have at home?" As if feeling like she almost made a mistake, the maid casually asked in a sigh. When she received his answer, she frowned. "Eh? But there are only five bags. Should I get two more for them?"
"Nuh-uh. They like cupcakes more. I just can't carry more, though." Guangru only smiled at the maid, and she took note of it. At this, the child wondered how the rest of the maids reacted to the friends that they couldn't even see for themselves. Was it normal for them not to question their masters?
