Chapter 586 - 173: Her College Journey

Kings College conducts a two-week compulsory military training for freshmen. To put in other words, Catherine couldn't get back to Sean's mansion for at least two weeks, which didn't concern her.

Catherine went to see Sophia in law school. The dormitory she stayed in was a bit far from hers, and she only had one roommate.

Times sponsored Sophia's college tuition. She didn't have any money on her and had to borrow some from Maria. The first thing she thought about was how to find part-time jobs to make money.

Catherine gave Sophia a set of skincare products as a gift and told her to put on sunscreen during military training if she got sunburnt.

Sophia wouldn't take it at first. Then she did since Catherine made a threat.

Kings College covers a large area with two campuses. Catherine and Sophia were taking a walk on the campus to get familiar with the surroundings. Unluckily, they met someone they wanted to see the least.

Madison came over with two other girls. She looked good, and it seemed she shook off the trauma Adam caused.

When they crossed by, Madison called Catherine's name.

"Hey, Catherine."

"Hi, Madison."

Madison smiled and said, "So we are in the same college now. How surprising."

Madison has seen the class address book. The class master registered a chat group, and every student joined it for further notification and management.

Then Catherine saw Madison's name.

They chose the same major and were in the same class. That was the last thing Catherine wanted.

Catherine never knew Madison was a fashion design major. In Catherine's last life, she got involved in show business before she graduated. She seemed to participate in a competition and won.

After becoming a talent, Madison forgot all she had learned. Catherine felt bad for her because she put in so many efforts to come to Kings College.

"I think I'm jinxed."

Madison felt awkward but said, "You live on campus?"

"Yeah. Feel free to drop by."

"You too."

"Okay."

"Bye."

They finished the formalities of greeting. But as for what they were really thinking about, only they knew.

Sophia sneered, "Catherine, be careful. I don't like her."

"It's okay. She's not capable of doing anything."

Madison must be terrified of Sean because of the Adam incident. She would not mess with Catherine.

"It's such a nice campus. But there are some annoying girls."

"You mean Iris and Pearl?"

"I've never met them. But I could tell they are sophisticated from the stories you told me."

"It's okay. We might not run into them."

"But we just did."

Catherine smiled and said, "Yeah, that makes sense. But if we meet up, so what? I'll think of something. BTW, I'm not scared of them."

The two-week military training commenced.

Catherine could stand the tough training for the first three days. But by the fourth day, the sun got so scorching that it could burn one's skin.

Catherine thought she was in good health. She remained the standard military pose despite the sun and wouldn't move. And she wouldn't dare to wipe the sweat tipping in her eyes.

The military instructor had sharp eyes to say every subtle move. He'd stare at you even if you just moved the eyeballs.

Some girls couldn't take it and wiped off the sweat. One eagle looked scared at them, and they stopped moving about.

"Alright, take a ten-minute break!"

The second he said, the students started getting down on the ground.

There was a series of complaints.

"We have such bad luck! Look at the other squad, they receive training under the tree shade. And their military instructor is hotter than ours.

Catherine found the comment amusing. She said, "Are you jealous of them because they have a hot instructor?"

"It's one reason. Besides, their military instructor isn't that stern. They take more rest. But ours drills us like new recruits. Damn it!"

"Ours is a bit stern. I hear he's the more strict in all our instructors."

"Keep your voice down!"

Catherine sat down under the tree and listened to girls gossiping. She had one straw in her mouth. She felt jealous of how energetic they were.

She didn't miss college in this life. She would not elope with Marco. She could have a normal life. Although she married young, her husband was nice.

"Catherine, the boys are peeking at you."

Ethel sat down next to Catherine and grinned, "Especially the class monitor. He looks over every now and then."

"What are you talking about?"

"I'm serious. I heard boys voted you the most beautiful girl in our class."

Catherine said, "Boring."

She wasn't interested in becoming the prettiest girl in the class or the department.

"Some other girls voted for Madison. She got lesser votes and came behind you."

"Catherine, Madison looks a bit like you."

"She's my cousin."

"Really? I thought you are related."

Catherine smiled, "It's okay. I'm not keeping it a secret."

"I think you're prettier because you're a bit icy."

As they were talking, Madison came over with a bottle of water.

"Catherine, have some water. It moisturizes the skin."

"It's okay. I have my own."

Madison didn't force her and sat down.

"The scene is lovely, right?"

"Yes. I like that ginkgo tree the most."

"I heard they had a vote for the prettiest girl in the class."

Catherine didn't respond.

"I know you're better looking than me. You deserve the honor."

That sounded jealous of Catherine.

"If you like it, you can have it."

"Catherine, it was a vote. I can't just have it."

Madison thought she didn't take handouts. If she took the title, it would be a disgrace.

"I don't care. Madison, if it means a lot to you, take it."

Catherine wanted the least attention. She only wanted to get through with the four years with the least drama with a low profile.

Besides, if she made herself the center of attention at the campus, Sean would be displeased because he was easy to get jealous of. She shivered, thinking of Sean's poker face. She'd better behave for her own good.

Madison and Catherine didn't have much to say. Her enthusiasm wasn't responded to by Catherine, so she went back.

Cecil and Ethel were staring at Madison and said, "Catherine, Madison seems to want the title very much."

"Okay. It's hers if she wants it."
