Chapter 601 - 188: As I Expected, It Is A Trap

"Cathy, I have bad news for you."

"Say it. I guess nothing can be worse than it," Catherine showed the program list and said.

"I have checked. It has nothing wrong with the program list. In other words, you have to perform on stage."

Cecil, Anna, and Ethel were worried. They didn't know about it at all, including Catherine.

The party was going to start ten minutes later, and Catherine was the fourth one. She had to improvise.

"They knew I didn't have the rehearsal."

"Yes! They knew it, but they put you on the list."

Catherine wouldn't come here if it is unnecessary. Catherine would rather stay in the dorm.

Most importantly, Catherine's singing was awful.

Catherine thought to herself, "Damn it! I have not even taken part in the competition, and my sound is terrible. What the hell!"

"Sister Catherine, are you going to perform? Are you good at singing?" Madison walked over and asked with a smile.

Catherine glanced at Madison and sneered, "Is it funny?"

"Sister Catherine, why do you ask such a question? You make me confused."

"Don't pretend to be innocent," said Catherine.

Catherine thought Madison set a trap for her.

"During the rehearsal, I didn't know you will perform. I just know it. Thus, I guess you asked to perform in private."

"I am not a fool," Catherine thought to herself.

"I need to change clothes and put on makeup. Sister Madison, it is time for preparation. You are the fourth," said Madison with a smile.

When Madison saw Catherine looked sad, she was pleased.

Madison thought to herself, "Catherine has no choice. Even if she refuses to perform, she will feel shame too. All of the students and teachers are there. What a shame!"

"Cathy, how to solve the problem?"

"Let it be!"

"Are you going to sing a song? Do you need to change clothes? I can help you put on makeup."

Catherine was silent and thought to herself, "Don't place me in a dilemma."

Of a sudden, Sophia called Catherine. Sophia was anxious when she knew Catherine was going to be on stage.

Both of them grew up together. Sophia knew Catherine very well. She knew Catherine's singing was terrible, and it was a trap.

Thus, Sophia called Catherine to discuss how to solve the problem.

"I need to go out. If the student counselor asked where I am, you could tell her that I am practicing the song."

"Do you need help?"

Catherine's roommates were worried about her. The time was limited. Although it was not easy to change another suit, it was not easy to put on makeup. Most importantly, Catherine hadn't sung the song before. Probably, she didn't remember the lyrics.

"I will let you know if I need it."

As Catherine ran backstage, she saw a few temporary booths where many students who were going to perform were sitting there or wearing makeup.

When Pearl and Iris saw Catherine, they exchanged glances and smiled.

"Catherine, are you going to perform now?"

Catherine just wore a white t-shirt, jeans, and a pair of white shoes. She didn't put on makeup but looked young and pretty among these beautiful girls.

Iris checked the time and then said to Catherine, "The party will get started. I kindly remind you that each program will last five minutes. That is to say, only twenty minutes left."

Catherine sneered, "Thank you. The most beautiful woman, Pearl. And thank you, Miss. Iris. Thank you all for putting me on the list. I must perform very well. I won't let you down."

Since Iris knew Catherine was mocking them, her mouth couldn't help twitching.

"It is not a big problem. We are friends. Otherwise, we wouldn't put you on the list."

Pearl put on makeup and a white gauze skirt, which made her perfect. Her body and her gestures all looked perfect and charming.

"Sincerely speaking, thank you for your kindness. It is my opportunity."

"Of course. We are so kind and tolerant."

"Uh-huh." Catherine couldn't help sneering in secret.

Most people at Kings college respect Pearl because they knew Pearl was rich.

As for Iris, she is the mayor's daughter. It was natural that everyone respects her.

"One more minute passed. Attention," said Iris. She reminded Catherine on purpose.

Madison already put on the makeup and wore a beautiful skirt.

She walked to Catherine gracefully and said, "Sister Catherine, I have a suggestion which can help you overcome the difficulties."

"Really?" Catherine raised her eyebrows and asked. At the same time, Catherine thought to herself, "Is she so kind and helpful?"

"But Miss. Johnson and Catherine should cooperate with me."

"As I expected, it is a trap," Catherine thought to herself.

"No problem. I can cooperate with you."

"Sister Catherine, you need to listen to the music again and again, and then you should pretend to sing the song."

"You mean, lip-syncing?"

Madison looked around, checking no one paid attention to them, so she added, "Basically. I can sing the song backstage, and you lip-synched it."

Catherine said with a meaningful smile, "I don't know whether I can trust you."

"So, you got a better idea? Sing the song by yourself?"

"You put my name on the list without my consent. I just knew it when I checked the program list. Now you suggest me to lip-synch the song, but how can I trust you? Do you think it is funny?" said Catherine.

Catherine guessed it must be a trap. Otherwise, Madison didn't have to suggest she lip-synch the song.

"Madison promises she will sing the song backstage, but if she breaks the promise. What should I do? Am I a fool on the stage? Will Madison tell everyone that I lip-synch the song? They are so mean. I can't believe them," Catherine thought to herself.

"Sister Madison, I want to help you."

"Help me? I think you want to play with me."

"I don't know about it. When I see your name, I am astonished too."

"Uh-huh."

"Is she passing the buck?" Catherine thought to herself.

"Catherine, I think it is a good idea. Have a try."

Catherine sneered, "Okay. Miss. Johnson, you are the host. Since you have the right to add my name to the list, could you please delete it directly? I think you really want to help me, right?"

"All the students have the program list."

"Don't explain. You want to prank on me. I know it."

Pearl was impatient and urged, "It is almost seven o'clock. I don't want to talk with you anymore. It is your choice."
