Chapter 701 - 26: Don’t Play Games With Me

She had been 'reborn' for only so many days, yet what she had experienced as Angelo, she had not experienced anything like that her whole life as Angela Watts. If only she had not gotten injured in the shoot, this would not be happening; why was God so cruel to her!?

Angela put her phone down and closed her eyes. She was done being the victim, she was done being a damsel in distress. If Stella wanted to play dirty, she would show her dirty. Stella, it is you who helped me out on your own, Angela thought to herself.

Angela knew who it was without opening her eyes when she heard footsteps enter the room. The enamoring scent of Drake filled her room. She breathed in deeply, reveling in his familiar presence.

"Explain." Angela heard a cold voice speak up from beside her.

Angela opened her eyes and looked at Drake with a bitter smile. When she had been injured and sent to the hospital, he did not bother to show up; but when, unexpectedly, the fake news of her engagement with Stella broke out on the Internet, he came right away!?

Of course, she was nothing in Thorne's family when compared with the family reputation, she was only an adopted child.

"There's nothing to explain," replied Angela, in a light voice. Having understood her real position in the Thorne family, she would not refuse Stella's request anymore. She had a plan in mind, one that did not involve being Drake's little puppet.

Now, for her, the most important thing was to find evidence of her death in her previous life. And she would find that through Stella Hill.

"Don't play games with me, Angelo. Are you really engaged to Stella?" said Drake, in a colder tone.

He had been inclined to support him before, but this had crossed all lines. What's more, he knew clearly what the Hill family wanted to do with Angelo. He was just a stepping stone for them in Harbour society. Everyone knew Baron Hill was a cheapskate, always looking for ways to raise his head higher.

"Why do you care, Drake? I'm eighteen, I can do whatever I want."

Angela peeled her gaze away, afraid her eyes would tell the truth, which would ruin her plan.

Drake was exasperated after hearing Angelo's words. "Angelo, you'd better tread carefully," said Drake, in a deathly quiet tone.

Angela could not help but shrink her neck; she still could not control her fear of Drake when he used that tone with her. She knew that if she continued to talk with him, he would figure out she was lying.

"Okay," Angela simply replied to make him shut up, hiding her face underneath the blanket.

Drake frowned in disappointment. He clenched his fists tightly and angrily reciprocated, "Okay then."

His chair flew back into the wall as he stood up and stormed out of the room.

Hearing him leaving, Angela pulled the quilt down. Recalling her words just now, she suddenly felt a little regret of treating him that way. She could only rely on the protection of Drake within the Thorne family since everyone else despised her. But now, having Drake on her bad side may just make her life even more difficult.

Thinking about it, Angela grabbed her hair and g.r.o.a.n.e.d. Heedless of any other consideration, she was only concerned with revenge through the Hill family at that time. She should have been more tactful! She should have reassured Drake and kept herself in his good graces while plotting her revenge. But there was no use crying over spilled milk now; it was too late.

The four days Angela had to spend in the hospital were torturous. She was irritated and bored out of her mind. Her injuries had been healed under the careful care of the nurses, however. Angela had a feeling Drake had something to do with it as she had heard them discussing Mr. Thorne's instructions while they thought she was sleeping.

As for her engagement with Stella, it had already become the fact that no one in Thorne's family has refuted, including Drake, which was surprising for Angela.

"Are you excited to leave the hospital today?" asked Hale, who was sitting beside her.

Bless her, Angela thought. Hale had been the only constant companion throughout these four days. No one had visited her, not even Drake, which made her a bit sad, even though she did not like to admit it.

"Yes, I want to leave this dreadful bed," Angela replied while shifting position on her bed.

Hale laughed, "Be thankful you are not in the other ward, Young master Thorne. This bed is luxurious compared to those!"

After finishing the discharge procedures, Angela was able to walk out of the hospital. The cold air hitting her face felt like heaven. She stood there and closed her eyes, just feeling the fresh air surrounding her. There was no smell of pungent disinfectant crowding up in her nose. She took a deep breath to clear her head.

"Angelo, you are finally out!"

Her moment of peace was interrupted by a very familiar voice.

It was Stella.

Seeing her, Angela's hands tightened into fists in annoyance and anger. However, she quickly masked her emotions when she thought of the revenge she was planning.

Today, Stella was dressed in a pink tracksuit with pink runners and her hair in a high ponytail. If she had not suffered so much at the hands of the Hills, she would admit Stella was a pretty girl, your usual preppy blonde but more beautiful and alluring. No wonder Patrick was in love with her.

Stella was looking at Angela with trepidation. After all, she had made a big fat lie and gotten Angelo involved in it.

Stella was expecting a blowout, swearing, anything but the calm complacent look Angela was giving her now.

Angela ignored Stella and continued into the parking lot, following Hale.

This would not mean she necessarily had to be nice to Stella. After all, Stella did make up the lie and make her life more difficult.
