Chapter 852 - 177: What Was He Doing Here?

"Yes, sir," replied the man with his head low. Then he left the living room quickly.

Angelo raised her head to look at McCoy, and her eyes were cold.

Because of the wound on the neck, McCoy couldn't walk quickly. He moved slowly to Angelo and then asked, "What do you want to drink?"

"No. Thanks. I'm here to ask you about something," Angelo refused.

Somehow, she felt he betrayed her.

"Please go ahead," said McCoy calmly. He seemed to be quite patient with Angelo. Even his mask couldn't cover it.

Angelo took a deep breath. She had known McCoy from her previous life, and he had never cheated on her.

She had offended Drake, so she didn't want to annoy McCoy.

"Are you going to take over the Watts group?"

"Of course not."

Angelo was puzzled, "Then why do you…."

But McCoy's words stunned her, "The Watts group was different from before. It's stinky and dirty now."

"I don't want to take it over. What I want to do is to rebuild it."

Sure enough, McCoy was not like what people thought of him. His eccentric character was just a cover in case others approached him and then found his real face.

Angelo knew that when she was Angela. But she didn't explore the reason. After all, she lived hard at the Watts house.

In some way, she was similar to McCoy. They both lived their lives depending on lies.

"What about the Watts group? I heard that you have taken over the company. Those people who just left here must be shareholders of the company, aren't they?"

Angelo knew the shareholders. They usually came to visit Parker with gifts when it came to the holiday. She thought they were close to Parker then. Now she understood that it was all because of the crime they committed together.

At that time, she had never expected that she would come back to life dozens of years later and had such an entanglement with them.

"Yeah. I have announced that I'd hand the company to Ivy later," replied McCoy.

Angelo stayed, "You knew the condition of the company?"

"Any clever man can see that. If they can't see it through, they may be blind."

Under the mask, McCoy smiled, and his eyes curved like he was thinking of something funny.

Angelo was surprised. She began to wonder if this was the McCoy she knew. Was that the real face?

"You seem to be different from before," Angelo said her thoughts directly.

McCoy was also quite honest with her, "People should hide something from others, or they may not even survive."

Angelo became silent because she thought of her death in her previous life.

He was right. People should hide something from others. She once showed her faithful heart to others, but then they took her heart out with a knife. Things like that could happen again.

After the trip to the Watts house, Angelo didn't get an answer to her confusion but got more puzzles.

As soon as she got back to the Thorne house, she went to sleep to avoid meeting Drake.

When she woke up, she learned that Drake went abroad on business yesterday afternoon.

In the following days, she didn't see Drake. She was supposed to feel relaxed, but she was strangely disconsolate.

One day, as Angelo was idle, Hale came over, "Mr. Clarence comes to visit you, sir."

"Clarence? The director?"

"Yes."

"Come for me?"

"Right."

What was he doing here?

Angelo was confused. She had loved Clarence in her previous life. But now, things have changed. She even felt weird when she thought of him.

"Please invite him in."

Angelo gave up thinking about it. Too many things happened these days, and she felt quite exhausted.

Hale turned to leave. When he came back, Clarence was behind him.

Angelo looked at Clarence but didn't get up to greet him. She was like a spoiled kid.

"What's wrong, Mr. Wilson? What can I do for you?" asked Angelo.

When Clarence saw Angelo, he was still stunned by her face. Honestly, Angelo looked the same as Angeline. They were twins. And they looked the same except that… Clarence looked down from Angelo's face, and then his eyes stopped at her throat.

Noticing Clarence's gaze, Angelo lowered her head and covered her throat a bit.

"What's the matter? Just say it, or I'll go to bed," said Angelo impatiently.

Clarence smiled, "It's afternoon now. Are you going to sleep till tomorrow, Mr. Angelo?"

"It's none of your business." Angelo rolled her eyes. She wouldn't do that when she was Angeline.

"Yeah. I come to ask about Angeline. I can't reach her again. There's a movie, which I think is quite appropriate for her. So, I want to invite her to be the heroine," said Clarence honestly.

His words raised Angelo's interest. But also, she sighed inside. She would have devoted herself to acting had it not been for her complex identities. Besides, she just became famous. If she didn't have more work, she would be a flash in showbiz.

"I'm not sure. Many things happened recently. Angeline is very busy. I'll ask her tonight," replied Angelo casually. But inside, she started to think about the switching.

She had been valuing Clarence's movies and didn't want to miss the chance.

"All right. Thank you, Mr. Angelo. Please inform me when you get her answer. I'll arrange the time for her."

Hearing him, Angelo felt guilty. It suddenly occurred to her that she had signed a contract with Glamor. Clarence was the most significant Glamor shareholder, so it was insane that he couldn't reach her and had to come to the Thorne house to look for her.

Maybe because of her guilt, she took back her lazy look and walked Clarence to the gate when he left.

While Angelo thought her job was done. Clarence suddenly said, "Are you available now, Mr. Angelo? I want to talk with you about something. So, how about we eat while talking? It's on me."

Angelo took a while to understand his words. It turned out that he didn't come for Angeline only.

"All right." Angelo agreed and then got into Clarence's car.
