When dinner was ready, Shuqin carefully placed it on a tray on the table. “Master, would you like me to serve you dinner?”
Lin Yunxu raised his eyes and sized her up indifferently.
“Come here.”
Shuqin was overjoyed. She walked over with small steps and lowered her head, revealing her snow-white neck.
Lin Yunxu pulled her in front of him and played with her hair with his fingertips. “Your face is far from that of Jiaojiao. It’s so coquettish.”
“I’ve been with you for so long, you’re used to it.”
Lin Yunxu’s actions were unrestrained.
Shuqin played along and put her arms around his neck. “Other girls would pounce on you when they see you. That Yue Jiaojiao has never seen you before. If she saw you, she would definitely abandon her useless husband.
“After all, no one else is as vigorous as you.”
Lin Yunxu lifted her chin, his eyes shining. “Really?”
“Of course it is true. I’ve followed you for so many years. I know your good taste in women. That Yue Jiaojiao is soft and weak. She’s just a little sharp-tongued, but in reality, she hasn’t experienced what’s called the ultimate bliss in the world.”
Dingli, who was standing at the side, quietly left the room and closed the door. He stood at the door as if he hadn’t heard the impudent movements in the room at all.
They ate and drank to his heart’s content.
With Shuqin’s help, Lin Yunxu tidied up and changed into a black robe with a layer of dark patterns on it. He held a folding fan in his hand and knocked on Yue Jiaojiao’s courtyard door gracefully.
Hearing the door open again, Yue Jiaojiao’s action of holding the book only paused for a moment, then she continued to read it with a calm and composed look.
It was obvious that the knocking was not Zhao Zhan’s. Even if she pretended to not be at home, no one would know. She was too lazy to deal with messy people.
The smile on Lin Yunxu’s face was so stiff that he almost couldn’t keep it, but the door in front of him didn’t open.
As expected of the woman he had taken a fancy to.
He wouldn’t mind waiting a few more months until she matured.
Guessing that Yue Jiaojiao might have fallen asleep and found it inconvenient to open the door, Lin Yunxu suppressed the unhappiness in his heart and returned to the next room for the time being.
Zhao Zhan returned to the courtyard under the moonlight. As soon as he knocked on the door, Yue Jiaojiao, who was only wearing a pair of socks, quickly walked over and opened the door. The moment she saw Zhao Zhan, she rushed into his arms and said in a delicate voice, “Zhao Zhan, why are you only back now? You weren’t here this afternoon. I was bullied by others.”
It was clearly her who had rendered others speechless, yet she still complain righteously.
Zhao Zhan’s heart ached as he looked at Yue Jiaojiao’s face. As he carried her into the room, he asked softly, “Was it the neighbor next door? What did they do? I’ll seek justice for you.”
“She came to my door with desserts, but I didn’t want them. She even tried to force me to take them.” Yue Jiaojiao skillfully found a position she was used to and lay down. Her voice was soft as she spoke, “She didn’t give up even after she went back. I don’t know who she got to knock on the door after that, but it’s disturbed me from reading.”
Zhao Zhan didn’t put Yue Jiaojiao down even after he entered the room. When he heard her complaints, he lowered his head and looked at her aggrieved face. His eyes were filled with guilt. “I’ll go and see who’s living next door later.”
